- cg4et, on 05/01/2008, -13/+359But the feds have been claiming that there was a connection between smoking marijuana and cancer.
Wait, the government wouldn't lie to us . . . would they? - imacommi, on 05/01/2008, -9/+179"All the more reason to toke it up man!"
~half baked - NikoKun, on 05/01/2008, -6/+166There are actually some studies, which suggest Marijuana, specifically THC, has anti-cancer properties, and can actually slow the growth of, or even reverse certain cancers. Which would certainly explain why there is no link between Marijuana and cancer.
In light of that... - Heysal, on 05/01/2008, -5/+133This isn't new info by a long shot - it;s been known for decades -- and all the synthetic fibers we wear, cordially produced by Dow Chemical, instead of natural hemp fibers are carcinogenic. But we can't have people's health stand in the way of a billion dollar industry now can we?
- TheFeds, on 05/01/2008, -2/+122No, we wouldn't. Seriously.
- Jimmyb207, on 05/01/2008, -11/+96The ***** eating grin of people who are stoned means that nothing bad has happened to their bodies. The thing I could see happening while being stoned is going deaf by listening to Sublime at volume #10 and overdosing on Lays potato chips....there are some hazards ; )
- inactive, on 05/01/2008, -3/+80"While no association between marijuana smoking and cancer was found, the study findings, presented to the American Thoracic Society International Conference this week, did find a 20-fold increase in lung cancer among people who smoked two or more packs of cigarettes a day."
Wait, which one is legal?
2006 article be damned. I am sure this is the latest information ;-) - Sonof8Bits, on 05/01/2008, -9/+84I'll roll one up now, to celebrate!
- socialrebel, on 05/01/2008, -4/+63Google for them but you can mainly find them on NORML.org and you can also find more marijuana myths busted at http://www.drugpolicy.org/marijuana/factsmyths/
- racco, on 05/01/2008, -8/+63well duhh,
large numbers of humans have been "rocking the ganj" for thousands of years, if it was bad for us we would know by now. it would be blindingly obvious. - stronglikedan, on 05/01/2008, -2/+54If by "evidence" you mean "propaganda", then yes, that exists. If you mean actual evidence that it negatively impacts the brain and the body, then there is only evidence to the contrary.
- Jimmyb207, on 05/01/2008, -3/+52How about legalizing Marijuana and subjecting it to the same laws as a much more dangerous drug, alcohol?
- serif69, on 05/01/2008, -1/+49I think marijuana might be the ONLY thing that studies say doesn't cause cancer.
- McSwankypants, on 05/01/2008, -3/+50I'm not calling you a liar -- because I haven't looked into the specifics either -- but tar is not tar. Tar is made up of NUMEROUS plant materials and chemicals. Tobacco tar is not marijuana tar any more than tobacco tar is what they use to put shingles on one's roof.
- turner050, on 05/01/2008, -1/+45Only users lose drugs.

It did manage to find the Doritos though.
- Elderon, on 05/01/2008, -1/+39Would I trust them? Yeah, why shouldn't I trust them? Would I want them working on me while they are stoned? No, but neither would I want them working on me or operating machinery while drunk either. Don't just assume that because people would like to use it medically or recreationally means that it will be ok to be intoxicated on the job.

So, yeah, not alot of suprise that you doubt this. - NikoKun, on 05/01/2008, -2/+39Sure thing:

Do a google search, there are actually several studies out there now on this specific medical purpose. - jb0nd38372, on 05/01/2008, -4/+40Even though this article is 1.8 years old all I really want to say is, "***** yeah". Now i'm gonna go smoke one.
- musters, on 05/01/2008, -4/+40Smoking anything is still bad in my opinion.
That is why you should Vape not Smoke! You'll feel great and the amount of herb you save in the end will end up paying for the Vaporizer. - Yage2006, on 05/01/2008, -1/+36". Their are not vary many successful pot heads"
Such a delusional ignorant comment. I suppose you cant count all the musicians, artists, actors, writers, scholars And even some Nobel price winners scientists many in the IT field, I could just go on and on and on but I'll stop there.
So ya no successful people at all.
Keep living in your bubble buddy .
Not saying that you should smoke pot but I cant stand little personal anecdotes like the one you just said that attempts to generalize everyone. Your as ignorant and dumb as fox news.
- JohnMGD, on 05/01/2008, -3/+35*Exhales*
What were we talking about? - sickanimations, on 05/01/2008, -3/+30Why did you randomly capitalise words?
- Neticule, on 05/01/2008, -0/+26If I remember my marijuana history correctly I think that the cotton industry was one of the main things that made weed illegal, simply because they were too big of a threat, and the industry was already in the pockets of the politicians, of course.
- inactive, on 05/01/2008, -1/+26He wasn't innocently asking, he was implying that there MUST be evidence that marijuana is bad for the brain...
- dizilbdog, on 05/01/2008, -9/+34Digg me down but with the Government we have and will have in the future Pot will Never be legal Unless there is a real change by the people to change the government.
- DteK, on 05/01/2008, -2/+27My problem is smoking blunts. Cigars are not meant to be inhaled (I dont think anyway) and smoking 3 blunts a day has to have some negative effects. Herb aside, smoke in any form cannot be good for your lungs. ***sigh*** Oh well, as I light this dutchmaster I will seriously start thinking about making butter more often to enjoy my favorite hobby in a less destructive manner
- Freaknik, on 05/01/2008, -1/+25So you use one example to generalize a ton of people? How about a black kid stealing your bike does that make them all steal? I'm a pot head and make 6 figures a year at an investing firm, therefore under your logic most potheads are now successful.
- bdawg123, on 05/01/2008, -0/+23Sounds positive to me.
- Murdats, on 05/01/2008, -0/+22And if those who did the study where drinkers of alcohol, would you trust them? How 'bout driving a car or flying a plane? How 'bout doing dental work on your teeth?
- Neticule, on 05/01/2008, -1/+23I think your on to something!
- demonologue, on 05/01/2008, -4/+26Not to be an *****, just genuinely curious, what are the health risks of smoking marijuana then? Surely, there are some?
- wacki, on 05/01/2008, -9/+31Marijuana is full of tar which is the same tar that causes a 20x increase in cancer among tobacco smokers. I honestly believe that a potent weapon to fight cancer is hiding in marijuana. That is the only plausible explanation for why there is no increase in cancer among pot smokers IMO. Weed may one day be responsible for the cure for many forms of cancer.
- smotpoker, on 05/01/2008, -0/+21Paper industry was threatened as well
- Yage2006, on 05/01/2008, -0/+21I remember in the 70's they use to claim there was a link to hair loss and men growing *****.
Thats when I knew the feds were full of *****. - thechr0nic, on 05/01/2008, -0/+21use of a vaporizer completely destroys your argument.
- Drax0n, on 05/01/2008, -1/+21They explained it in the article (wouldn't be nice if people read the article before posting) they believe the THC in pot kills any aging or dieing cells before they have the chance to mutate thus making cancer a lot less liekly..
- ericcire, on 05/01/2008, -3/+23OM NOM NOM NOM
- gilzow, on 05/01/2008, -0/+20Funny, I hang out with quite a few "potheads" all of whom live on their own (or are married), hold steady jobs, are active members of the community and make a very decent living. No offense, but there's probably a good chance that your brother would be living at home with or without pot. Correlation does not imply causation.
- InsaneMachine, on 05/01/2008, -0/+19guess what? Car engines release Carbon Monoxide (CO) during combustion too, and you inhale much more CO from cars than if you were to smoke weed, just think of all the cars that pass by you.
- m3th0dm4n, on 05/01/2008, -2/+21Who cares if it's illegal? ***** you, it's my body.
- LogicBomB, on 05/01/2008, -4/+23People have been smoking tobacco for a very long time as well but only recently (relatively speaking) has the health issues come to light.
I'm for legalization but I just want to say that looking back at a period of time where medicine was hardly as sophisticated is not a terribly strong argument. - jcaino, on 05/01/2008, -0/+19Make some weed butter and you can make just about anything your heart desires. Brownies? Pfft...forget that - go gourmet!
- scain, on 05/01/2008, -0/+19Looking around the office, I can see lots of people who don't need weed to overdose on the Lays.
- Bilabrin, on 05/01/2008, -1/+20But they were'nt. RTFA
