- miqal, on 02/01/2008, -0/+13Who's your daddy?
- J3R3MY, on 02/01/2008, -1/+13Great, one more reason women don't need us men.
- danc4498, on 02/01/2008, -3/+14BOOOOOOOOO Bad science, BAD!
- souljaboytellem, on 02/01/2008, -4/+14I guess they'll be working on creating a womb for the gay guy now
/sigh
Should be working on a cure for cancer.. - FrequencyX, on 02/01/2008, -2/+11What the *****
- BigManOnCampus, on 02/01/2008, -11/+19I'm actually hoping that this does happen. Because the first biological lesbian couple that gives birth to a straight girl will be quite an eye-opener.
It would mean that homosexuality is not genetic, or at least very recessive. - kylere, on 02/01/2008, -2/+9Dup of the one with 1300 Diggs from 12 hours ago http://digg.com/general_sciences/Males_irrelevant_ ...
People do not even bother to search anymore do they? - inactive, on 02/01/2008, -0/+5No, Children need a STABLE, loving home with more interaction than one parent has time for. The divorce rate is the most under-rated cancer on modern society.
That said, something about this seems wrong. Gay/Lesbian adoption is a good thing. Not so sure about this, for scientific/biological reasons. - inajeep, on 02/01/2008, -0/+5I have to admit I like the title on this one better. Less sensationalism.
- sonicomega, on 02/01/2008, -2/+6Here here....three cheers for this user. Glad someone understands civilization.
- overkilpro, on 02/01/2008, -5/+9as someone who has never had a father I can tell you that no, you really don't need a father
- J3R3MY, on 02/01/2008, -0/+4If you actually read the article, it states that this has not happened yet, they are just researching and testing it. The article clearly states that women do not have the correct amount of genetic material to produce offspring on their own.
- Dagreenman, on 02/01/2008, -0/+4Long story short, we are now useless. This was the only reason women put up with us. Now what the ***** are we gonna do?!?!
- thehoof, on 02/01/2008, -0/+4Brings new meaning to "not if you were the last man on earth".
- truthiness, on 02/01/2008, -0/+4What do you know about this subject? Here's a guy with firsthand experience stating there is an overemphasis on having a father & he's fine without one. Yet you somehow feel you can pass judgment about his life, saying he "still needed one"?!? How stupid & arrogant.
Look, we've all got problems & issues: Simply having 2 parents will never change that fact. - delafere, on 02/01/2008, -0/+4Let me get this straight: you're actually _hoping_ that the science proves out that homosexuality is not genetic or that it is at least very recessive? That's kind of bizarre.
Your screen name indicates you probably aren't old enough to have a gay son or daughter, so it probably isn't that you want to be absolved from... whatever. Got a gay sibling you want to blame really badly for their nature? Or maybe you just want to them be "bad people" like that book says they are? I can't figure it out.
Also, there are other developmental, yet genetically involved reasons that have been put forward as the potential source of this set of traits. Way to oversimplify while being emotionally involved in a scientific inquiry. Good thing you're not going to be doing that study and cloud the results.
Also, the rate of homosexuality in the population seems to remain relatively constant at around seven percent over time, according to the last study I read (my wife may have read something more recent --I'll ask). That sounds recessive in and of itself.
But what will you personally gain from this "hoped for" scientific conclusion? - RealmDown, on 02/01/2008, -2/+6A more important question: Without men, how will women know who is automatically wrong anymore?
- Agalychnis, on 02/01/2008, -2/+6If homosexuality was tied to Mendelian genetics, we would have figured it out a long time ago. It's probably quite a bit more complicated than that. I know a pair of identical twin women, one is gay, one is bi; who knows how much of that is genetic, pre-birth environmental, childhood development or any combination of all of those. I'd bet a lot that most of it happens before birth though, and is at least largely genetic.
- sonicomega, on 02/01/2008, -0/+4hey strait from Venture Brothers, "surgically implanted baboon's uterus."

- sonicomega, on 02/01/2008, -1/+4why these suits spending so much time and money on helping out fruits instead of saving people dying of cancer and *****. "Where's our head at...where's our head at...where's our head at at at at."
- ghank, on 02/01/2008, -0/+3Ahh home videos, how they bring back the memories.
- wbreim, on 02/01/2008, -2/+5What sin? what are you talking about?
- legom, on 02/01/2008, -0/+3because you edited the comment, the link no longer works. here is the working one: http://www.digg.com/general_sciences/Males_irrelev ...
- RealmDown, on 02/01/2008, -0/+3Wii sex
- RealmDown, on 02/01/2008, -1/+3I have first hand experience with having two parents.
And having an opinion is not passing judgment. - binarymelon, on 02/01/2008, -0/+2Worst news ever. No man will get a date, ever again.
- mcool119, on 02/01/2008, -0/+2Science. We're all about coulda, not shoulda.
But at least now we know who eric cartman's father is. - veilrap, on 02/01/2008, -1/+3WoundedCow you're a ***** idoit.
- stellandfly, on 02/01/2008, -0/+2I think it's abnormal and wholly unnatural. I have nothing against lesbians procreating, but the consequences could be dire. And people wonder why some babies are born with all sorts of ***** up illnesses and congenital deformations. Science goes too far sometimes.
- oneniner, on 02/01/2008, -3/+5Back that up with some unbiased scientific research and historical examples. I mean, seriously, a child needs a loving and safe environment. The gender of the parent or parents is irrelevant.
- veilrap, on 02/01/2008, -3/+5Actually you just need a loving parent. Father or mother makes no difference.
- RealmDown, on 02/01/2008, -1/+3Outside of "bad people" I think that everyone needs a mother and a father.
- DasCrackbaby, on 02/01/2008, -8/+10I saw on TV that retards and midgets can have normal children.
- RealmDown, on 02/01/2008, -4/+6I'm sorry for your loss of a father in your life, but surviving without one, even successfully, is not the same. You still needed one.
- bennyfreshness, on 02/01/2008, -2/+4you're wierding me out...
- zaqarov, on 02/01/2008, -0/+2I don't believe it is genetically determined if whether or not you are gay, but what you say doesn't make sense.
If they'd give birth to a straight girl/boy, it wouldn't prove it's not genetic. It may be recessive, there may be multiple genes involved, etc. The only thing it would prove is that it's not dominantly genetic. Recessive genes are still genes.
Also, I don't understand why you use the word "very" in combination with "recessive". You can't say anything about the degree to which it is recessive until you know how many genes are involved.
The only thing that could easily prove that being gay is not genetic, is if they'd create sperm cells, then insert them into the same woman, effectively cloning her. If she then has a straight boy/girl, you have your proof. - wbreim, on 02/01/2008, -1/+3if you take the last book of the bible as prophecies you have no place in academic discourse... you should be laughed out of any halls of serious discussion.
- Chompy, on 02/01/2008, -2/+4But not in your case, right?
- removesstains, on 02/01/2008, -0/+2Yuck, if this happens. Poor Kid, that can't be healthy.
- bdig7, on 02/01/2008, -0/+2Let's just fix that:
"Children need strong role-models from both sexes."
There, that's better. Children do not need either a father or mother. As likesoy said, they need a loving home, and they need healthy role-models and interactions, but that needn't come from parents. - stellandfly, on 02/01/2008, -0/+2It's abnormal and unnatural IF done in the way the article suggests. Lesbian couples have babies all the time, but NOT using sperm "produced" from their own bodies, as we all know.
- PassDaGravy, on 02/01/2008, -0/+1Ah and I see the secret evil cult of WHP (women hating penises) strikes again!
- Tochi, on 02/01/2008, -1/+2"Search"? What's this "search" you speak of? I take what the almighty frontpage gives me and I like it!
- wbreim, on 02/01/2008, -1/+2that's an incredible claim there! this concept of sin is amazing ! something people are born with wow must tied in with DNA amazing! please link me to some research on the subject.
I can't wait to see the extraordinary evidence for your extraordinary claims! -
