Spectacular Aerial Photos of Ocean Islands Around World
photography.nationalgeographic… — [Nat Geo] Beautiful shots. From the "almost perfectly circular Blue Hole" near Belize (400 ft deep, an "opening to what was a dry cave system during the Ice Age") to Bora Bora, Fiji, & others.

*Edit* And on St. Patty's day too - Qtip42, on 03/16/2008, -6/+3isn't the blue hole where that one russian kid died and it was captured by a camera mounted to his head? yuri something or other. Sad movie......on youtube somewhere.
- SmokeyBong, on 03/16/2008, -4/+2Awesome wallpaper.
- withoutamartyr, on 03/16/2008, -3/+4Nice seeing aerial pictures of my home island of Palau.
- snowwrestler, on 03/16/2008, -1/+0I was just in Palau a couple weeks ago visiting friends. Surfing at Ngeremlengui, kayaking and snorkeling in the Rock Islands, the cultural sites on Babeldaob...it was great. Not sure if you're on the island--my friends there are the Corbins, Carmen was on TV while I was there for a legal education programs she's started.
- zeeeg, on 03/16/2008, -2/+14Thought a couple of them would make a nice desktop wallpaper so I clicked that link and..
1024 x 768 pixels—best for larger monitors
..what year is this?- radarbeam, on 03/16/2008, -2/+2Yep, noticed that too.. lol where's my 1680x1050?
- yoshman, on 03/16/2008, -1/+21997. Want to join my webring?
- HiKevinRose, on 03/16/2008, -3/+2Diving in the Blue Hole would scare the living ***** out of me. Something about deep holes of water is just terribly unnerving.
- HiKevinRose, on 03/16/2008, -2/+1Oof. I just realized how ambiguous that comment was. I literally mean large holes filled with water in the earth. I once swam in a water-hole in Mexico (you know, one of those things the Mayans drank out of, it begins with a C) and scientists hadn't ever figured out how deep it was, it just kept going over 400 feet. I did it just to prove I had a semblance of testicular presence, but it was really unnerving.
- bbardlbradd, on 03/30/2008, -0/+1***** that, I would have climbed out like a wet cat, all ready to ***** myself and even if god tried to put me back in the water I'd be clawing my way out. I hate swimming in anything other than a pool, lake or river. The beach is /ok/, but don't put me in deep water.
I don't know, maybe I'm odd. I just don't like Dark Waters. (lol)

- kruzztee, on 03/16/2008, -2/+2What kind of photgraphy setting (camera and lenses) did the photographer use for all of this image? Do anyone know?
- bbardlbradd, on 03/30/2008, -0/+1It's obviously the ninja turtle kodak from the early 90's but modified to accept the National Geographic logo. Lens: flat plastic.
- zevgreen, on 03/16/2008, -3/+1Which one is the Lost Island?
- tacojohn, on 03/16/2008, -3/+1Not on there- it's filmed on Oahu in Hawaii...
- theillbehaviord, on 03/16/2008, -3/+1This island has no car?
- elliam, on 03/16/2008, -3/+1No pics of the island of trash floating in the pacific...
- Daiken, on 03/16/2008, -3/+1Man, I wish I had the money and resources to buy one of those islands...
- WickEd101, on 03/16/2008, -2/+1I wonder when National Geographic will realize the age of 1024x768 resolution screens has long passed.
- yoshman, on 03/16/2008, -1/+3Probably the same time my best friends mom will stop telling me that 1024x768 makes her "screen too small", and changing it back to 800x600. She also uses CompuServ with broadband and believes that when she signed on AIM with her CS account, they started sending her porn spam... :/
- WickEd101, on 03/16/2008, -2/+0I think I can make out Sawyer...
- j3ff86, on 03/16/2008, -2/+0Additional generic Lost joke!
- looper, on 03/16/2008, -2/+0Why all the Bora Bora love but no Moorea love?
Most beautiful island we've ever seen!
http://www.ianandwendy.com/OtherTrips/SouthPacific ... - snowwrestler, on 03/16/2008, -2/+0Sweet, I've been to 3 of these--Palau, Tahiti, and Cape Hatteras. Beautiful pics.
