- misreto, on 03/27/2009, -0/+44That is awesome and kinda scary at the same time.
- dazparkour, on 03/27/2009, -1/+30I can almost feel for the poor little cell, trying to struggle and get away.
It reminds me of a game where, basically, two programmers create a robot. That robot can create new robots and interact with the robots around it. If you come across an enemy robot, you can either turn it off, before it turns you off - best programming wins there, OR transfer new code into it so that it becomes yours. - Dinsdale77, on 03/27/2009, -8/+36Does that count as porn?
- buddamus, on 03/27/2009, -4/+30Bill HIcks had it right, "The day we cure AIDS there will be ***** in the streets"
- dazparkour, on 03/27/2009, -1/+23There's ***** in the streets now, we call it dogging.
- wavesmachine, on 03/27/2009, -1/+20That's some scary ***** right there...
- Gareth321, on 03/27/2009, -1/+18Did you just rule 34 HIV? D:
- brandnewx, on 03/27/2009, -1/+16Yes it's rape porn.

'STRANGE THAT STRAIGHT PEOPLE CATCH IT AND SPREAD IT' - christoast, on 03/27/2009, -0/+13are you blind or just not even look at the article?
- divinediva, on 03/27/2009, -1/+14It could be the predominant mode of dissemination.
- cdnbmatt, on 03/27/2009, -1/+13I agree..it was pretty unnerving to watch. It almost looks like that cell made a conscious effort to escape.
- dazparkour, on 03/27/2009, -1/+13Strange that straight people catch it and spread it...
- tgc1, on 03/27/2009, -0/+11AIDS is only one of a host of many viruses that can be spread sexually. So no, this is not going to happen.
- Velvolver, on 03/27/2009, -1/+12I didn't want to, but I loled
- ApokalypseNow, on 03/27/2009, -1/+11Are you being serious, or are you really that ignorant?
- christoast, on 03/27/2009, -0/+9No *****, the point of the video was the filming of the event.
- GuertyMof, on 03/27/2009, -1/+10I'm pretty sure I've seen HIV spread on film a few times. On a related note, I do not recommend that anyone ever purchase gas station porn.
- nathan43082, on 03/27/2009, -0/+8And I was all ready to watch man-on-monkey action
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -0/+8Finally an article about scientists filming something really cool and actually including the video.
- Hindermore, on 03/27/2009, -2/+9FTA: "Researchers found that the virus is transferred from infected cells to healthy ones in a previously unknown way."
- MrChunks, on 03/27/2009, -0/+7We'll see about that.
- lydecker, on 03/27/2009, -0/+7The chances you will get HIV from risky sex with an infected partner is infinitely more likely than the chances you will get HIV from risky sex with an uninfected person.
The chances you will get HIV from unprotected sex with an infected partner is much more likely than the chances you will from protected sex.
The chances you will contract aids from anal sex is more likely than you would from vaginal sex.
It's the sex that's the problem, not the people involved. Unprotected risky sex is the problem. Not a person having an attraction to someone of his own sex. It would be best for all people to know that, especially those in Africa (who we won't be telling it's rare unless you're gay). Therefore, we can actually help both gays and straights know how they might contract it and how to prevent it. Lets help, not blame. - mclewell, on 03/27/2009, -1/+7Damn, Nature you scary!
- grungefan, on 03/27/2009, -1/+7What's up with "Aids"? It's an acronym, shouldn't it be in all caps?
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -1/+6While his remark might have had a malicious intent, it's ignorant to not know the facts about the disease. Odds are actually MUCH lower than 2% of a straight man getting infected from vaginal intercourse. However, there are variables that can increase the risk factor. such as open sores, existing weakness in the immune system, etc...
- DarkprinceArmon, on 03/27/2009, -0/+5what a coincidence.
- joot2112, on 03/27/2009, -1/+6So all those elaborate animations we've seen in every TV show about HIV ... of the free-floating virus attaching itself to the cell wall and injecting itself into the cell ... were speculative ***** presented as fact.
- whytey, on 03/27/2009, -3/+8The cure for AIDS is a large dosage of highly concentrated money injected directly into the bloodstream.
- taox, on 03/27/2009, -0/+5fap fap fa
No. - atchon, on 03/27/2009, -0/+4"This allowed scientists to see the cells on digital video, and capture the way HIV-infected T-cells interact with uninfected ones. "
This is how infected cells interact with uninfected cells. What you are stating is how the virus interacts with a cell. The free floating virus attaching itself to the cell wall still stands.
and FTA
"For decades it was believed that HIV was mostly spread around the body through freely circulating particles, which attach themselves to a cell, take over its replication machinery and make multiple copies of themselves.
In 2004, scientists discovered that cell-to-cell transfer of HIV also occurred via virological synapses, but it was not understood why the process was so effective in spreading the virus." - Thex1138, on 03/27/2009, -1/+5The 2009 remake of 'The Blob'
- Javlington, on 03/27/2009, -2/+6AIDS is not a virus.
- solid12345, on 03/27/2009, -0/+4I'm gonna get you, and your little white blood cell too!
- Delta009, on 03/27/2009, -3/+7I was expecting an article from The Onion about a pornographic movie.
- thegrantman, on 03/27/2009, -0/+4This looks like a scene from The Andromeda Strain.
- iXam, on 03/28/2009, -0/+3Nah, John Holmes was way before him.
- mediaspree, on 03/27/2009, -3/+6Incurable STD? Don't let it slow you down brother!
http://www.STDmatch.net - inactive, on 03/27/2009, -3/+6Stay klassy, MikeDM.
- Iskate4salomon, on 03/27/2009, -0/+3All of the good scientific articles I read come from the Telegraph. Something the brits can do correctly. :P
- OmegaOdy, on 03/27/2009, -0/+3also FTA:
"In 2004, scientists discovered that cell-to-cell transfer of HIV also occurred via virological synapses, but it was not understood why the process was so effective in spreading the virus. " - MikeDM, on 03/27/2009, -9/+12hmm, that's weird. I thought that Magic Johnson's "special" video was the first time HIV spreading was filmed.
- stevensj2, on 03/27/2009, -0/+3Some stretching, a few warm up maneuvers, and Yanni's Greatest Hits album.
- AlyxVance, on 03/27/2009, -0/+3I would have liked to see the infected one become completely green
- solid12345, on 03/27/2009, -6/+8Bill Hicks is also a dead junkie.
- jbnumba1, on 03/27/2009, -0/+2I agree, it looked like it was pulling with all its might to get away..
- catachip, on 03/27/2009, -0/+2AIDS would have continued to kill huge numbers of people if it were not for the development of the drug cocktails in the mid 1990s that transformed HIV disease into a still debilitating, but chronic disease with potentially normal life spans for affected individuals.
So, thank you very much to all of the protesters, activists, and scientists who recognized this problem, mobilized money and resources that led to, not yet a cure, but a very effective treatment regimen. - uptown, on 03/27/2009, -1/+3Wait ..... what?
- joelsmif, on 03/29/2009, -0/+1Did someone say "sex with a monkey?" SIGN ME UP!
- b33x, on 03/27/2009, -2/+3I thought they are gono film some unprotected sex.
I was disappointed.
And the Pope was right, condom can't help. -
