- drimo, on 02/08/2008, -2/+27I'm not really sure why this is special. There are already naturally occurring species that have this attribute, such as the freshwater Glass Catfish: http://www.dkimages.com/discover/previews/746/7331 ...
- MrFancy, on 02/08/2008, -4/+29I shall name it Casper
- julianwan, on 02/08/2008, -1/+17I want a see through baby, then i'll be impressed.
And see through marshmallows. - ClarkNoHeart, on 02/08/2008, -0/+15Fantastic! Now on to curing cancer...
- Diabolos, on 02/08/2008, -0/+13Can I poke it?
- ElbertF, on 02/08/2008, -1/+10Pretty amazing to see yourself go in and out.
- noahhoward, on 02/08/2008, -1/+7The point is this particular type of fish are somehow biologically similar to humans. By making them transparent it can make it easier to see the effects of some experiments.
- Blitz_G, on 02/08/2008, -0/+6Why would you want to eat a baby????
- borez, on 02/08/2008, -0/+6Next week...non-see-through glass
- pajamamoose, on 02/08/2008, -2/+8I second your opinion. I had glass tetras in my aquarium 15+ years ago. Not sure why they went through the trouble of breeding a new "see-through" fish when they already existed... Not to mention I'm pretty sure my tetras were bigger than these little danios.
- thomtomw, on 02/08/2008, -0/+6's clothes.
- mattes5, on 02/08/2008, -1/+7... I thought these were already around.
- quomen, on 02/08/2008, -2/+7If i'm not mistaken, that would be extremely disgusting.
See through clothes on the other hand would be a huge success. - bjs3171, on 02/08/2008, -0/+4maybe they're gonna make human ghosts. and you thought albinos were weird looking.
- nocam, on 11/10/2008, -0/+4"Dr White mated a breed that lacks reflective pigment, called "roy orbison"...
DUGG - frem001, on 02/08/2008, -0/+4Yeah I used to have see through fish with bright neon coloured bits along their spine, can't remember what they were called, not neon tetras, but they kept attacking the other fish.
- Aridane, on 02/08/2008, -0/+4Yes, people, there are indeed species of fish that are transparent in nature. But RTFA!
"zebrafish are genetically similar to humans and are already in widespread use as models for human biology and disease." That is what makes this scientifically important. Jellyfish and glass catfish are all well and good, but they have almost nothing in common with humans at the genetic level. Zebrafish have a great deal of similarities, which makes this discovery very important in the study of how disease develops and spreads in the body. - themastersb, on 02/08/2008, -0/+3Isn't there already a transparent fish?
- piesforyou, on 02/08/2008, -0/+3But then it would be hard to eat them!
- shoover, on 02/08/2008, -0/+3I have some tetras that are see through...
- mbrindam, on 02/08/2008, -0/+3The ones I had died within a couple days... finally I realized how they got to be painted, and decided never to buy them again. Sure, they're just fish, but that's still just cruel.
- shoover, on 02/08/2008, -0/+2Don't be so paranoid.
- Minivolt, on 02/08/2008, -0/+2they did this because zebrafish has been largely used in labs to study biology. They are easy to maintain, breed, work with and they are a proven scientific model. And as a bonus nobody care for these fish if they are sacrificed, right? Your tetras on the other hand might not be that easy to work with....
- racco, on 02/08/2008, -1/+3go science!!
- Encablossa, on 02/09/2008, -0/+2DIGG ME UP IF YOU HATE BLACK PEOPLE.
Do you feel something familiar? - iambagels, on 02/08/2008, -0/+2is there something i don't know about roy orbison that makes that funny or is it just funny because it's random?
- disco5896, on 02/08/2008, -0/+2That's cool, but when are they gonna make tuna fish already filled with mayonnaise?
- 10scott10, on 02/08/2008, -0/+2these have been around for so long
- matthewf01, on 02/08/2008, -0/+2what happens when you cook it?
Also, where is the see-through frog? - nimawin, on 02/08/2008, -0/+2scientists created a see through fish last year that was almost invisible too.. here is a pic:

- wrestlingnrj, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1Am I the only one that has seen these at pet stores before for 10/$1. I distinctly remember buying see through fish as feeder fish for my Oscar when I was younger.
- inactive, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1We are one step closer to laser mounted sharks.
- inactive, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1finally, something for my see through chips.
- yujie, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1Sounds fishy to me
- eatkitten, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1Transparent fish cannot tell a lie.
- henhouse0, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1Um, don't you see these in the water all the time at the beach?
- FotoGeek, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1Invisible Sushi!!
- 1807, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1Weren't those japaneese killer bees a genetic experiment? They look like honey bees but they're different or something. I seem to recall seeing a clip about them on Digg sometime ago.
- RedForLife, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1I got a bunch of those transparent fish in my aquarium, ill go study human biology on them.
- richardPM, on 02/08/2008, -1/+2where the ***** is my see-through skin?!
- padrebuf, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1guys, you're not helping your anti-creationist argument.
- stanleyfresh, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1It'd be awesome to have a tank o' those little guys for Halloween.
- moletimer, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1I want to flush it down the toilet. Muhahahaha...
- sakuraz, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1How about see through bras
- sayuki288, on 02/09/2008, -0/+1guess we'll be having a lot of transparent fish nowadays
- known, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1What will happen to my Sushi?
- akira117, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1Please tell us the differences at a genetic level between that fish and say a Red Phantom Tetra?
pic: http://www.dkimages.com/discover/previews/970/3500 ... - piesforyou, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1I shall name it gutsy
- HairyPoter, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1very useful a transparent fish. After digesting it, will your ***** be transparent?
