- cledford, on 08/28/2008, -2/+31A better question is why do we HAVE to sleep after sex...

- cartman005, on 08/28/2008, -1/+20"The definition of adulthood is that you want to sleep.”
- Paula Poundstone - boner79, on 08/28/2008, -0/+18...or eat a ham sandwich

- monkeysama, on 08/28/2008, -3/+18It's perfectly obvious to any layperson that the body's humors get jostled around during a day of excitement, and only the sedentary sleep allows them to find their way back to your gallbladder, which is where the feeling of alertness comes from.
No science is needed here, we have a perfect understanding! - colonelxc, on 08/28/2008, -1/+15Dammit. Who typed a question mark on the teleprompter?
- StormyAaron, on 08/28/2008, -2/+14Because when we sleep our body makes repairs to damage we did to our self during the day, micro bone fractures, and other general wear and tear.
- mescad, on 08/28/2008, -0/+11What do YOU mean by "we"?
- tallguyg, on 08/28/2008, -0/+9well take a nap...
THEN FIRE THE MISSILES - Evolutuon, on 08/28/2008, -0/+9I'm crossing my fingers on that outcome when the time comes.
- Gee1004, on 08/28/2008, -2/+11Some people die in their sleep
- TheRouzer, on 08/28/2008, -1/+9thanks for that information genius
- SQLDigger, on 08/28/2008, -0/+8@Recessive, I read it with more of a Dave-Chappelle-as-Samuel-Jackson twist . . .
- GTRagnarok, on 08/28/2008, -0/+7So that we can dream about having girlfriends. That sustains us a little longer.
- FLarsen, on 08/28/2008, -0/+7They're referring to this: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/end

- speel, on 08/28/2008, -3/+10We are all walking Windows machines and we need to be rebooted every night.
- mrsteveman1, on 08/28/2008, -0/+6*****, its a 99.99999999999% (is that enough 9s?) fatality rate, and I, sir, will be the exception.
- TheDreadDiggerD, on 08/28/2008, -1/+7So that our threads can synchronize. Without sleep, too many object remain in memory and eventually we have a system crash. So much data, so little brain.
- keyforce, on 08/28/2008, -0/+6We aren't animals?
- Poochyfud, on 08/28/2008, -0/+6I for one would go insane if I couldn't sleep.
- marcus1060, on 08/28/2008, -2/+8Because what else would men do after sex?
Talk? Cuddle? Yeah right. It's an out. - aftern9ne, on 08/28/2008, -1/+7I thought we already knew why we sleep.
What I want to know is why do we yawn? - CATSCEO2, on 08/28/2008, -1/+6Dugg for creativity.
- riggs32, on 08/28/2008, -3/+8im pretty sure memories are stored into long term memory while we sleep. if you never went to sleep, it would be very hard to tell how long ago something happend to you. just ask anybody who works midnights what day it is, it'll probably take them a moment to respond.
- ASSASSYN360, on 08/28/2008, -6/+11What do they mean by we?
- zooey1234, on 08/28/2008, -1/+6Well, if we didn't sleep, what would we do for the extra 7-9 hrs a day? Become even more digg addicts?
- thegrantman, on 08/28/2008, -1/+6So I can dream about Jessica Alba.
- xptoast, on 08/28/2008, -0/+5I four three two one...blast off... Wait wait I meant I for three sorry...
- mohsenxp, on 08/28/2008, -0/+5I read it like a Chinaman. I wish my inner Chinaman would leave me alone :(
- palehorse864, on 08/28/2008, -1/+5To sleep, perchance to dream?
- xptoast, on 08/28/2008, -0/+4That is why they ask you to rest more when you are sick. The energy is moved to different tasks. Great point stormy. But why do we dream? Why do animals dream?
- SQLDigger, on 08/28/2008, -0/+4I noticed the same things back when (somewhat ironically) I worked as a sleep tech. I've also noticed a similar effect when over-sleeping, or varying your sleep schedule. Your sense of time gets thrown way off.
- lolwutpear, on 08/28/2008, -1/+5You have children *****? Are they as bad as full grown *****?
- suckaPU, on 08/28/2008, -2/+6i thought they already knew why we sleep.........

- jroowizzle, on 08/28/2008, -1/+5Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
- SQLDigger, on 08/28/2008, -0/+4But we have to pursue the question to its logical conclusion, so good people can help come up with treatments for sleeping-related illnesses, and so bad people can misuse the knowledge to ***** with us. It's part of the wonder that is human nature . . .
I wonder if sleep has anything to do with it? -
