    "She says the ancient fish had quite advanced reproductive systems considering sharks today have a similar system."

    That's just silly because the sharks arose at roughly the same time as this bad boy, and they have not changed all that much since. The shark reproductive system is likely representative of the ancient system (that was present in the common ancestor of sharks and placoderms), and the similarity between this 400My old fish and sharks would lend weight to that idea. It's like how the platypus lays reptile-like eggs because it's lineage split from the rest of mammals when the mammalian ancestor still retained more reptilian characteristics.

    I think she has it the wrong way around, and I think she's wrong to imply that present organisms are necessarily more "advanced" compared to past organisms.
