- praseodym, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@ssanders: you really can't read. it's a REVERSE test, so if you CAN see things in the images you ARE colorblind. not like you said.
- bpowah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Here's a link to the standard test:
http://www.toledo-bend.com/colorblind/Ishihara.html
and in response to makbryan, I STill cant see the images even after knowing what they are.. Perhaps there are differences between monitors, display settings, etc.. - capn_caveman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Evidently I'm not colorblind! This submission reminded me of another submission on digg that I found interesting: http://digg.com/general_sciences/What_Digg_Would_Look_Like_If_You_Were_Colorblind...
- rcomegys, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Never ask a colorblind person "what color is this?"... it's the most annoying question that you could ask. It's like asking someone who's paralyzed "what can you feel with your legs?"
- Jakelshark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3yay I saw it...I am color blind
now I have that cocky feeling of "what, you cant see it?" to non-color-blind people doing that test that they have when I do that colored dot thing - marix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4hey studdering sanders, as he said. Im pretty darn sure im not colorblind. What hes saying is that although he isn't colorblind he can still make out the shapes in the pictures. While im sure both of you have the ability to ready, its the comprehension that you seem to be lacking.
- nodrew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3sssssssanders, I'm pretty sure your ability to read is what is in question here. FTFA: "If it's painfully obvious that there's another image there, then you're probably colorblind to some degree in the red part of the spectrum."
This is why it is a reverse colorblindness test. Most tests when you can find something or can see something, it means you're ok. This one means that you're at least to a slight degree color-blind. It doesn't mean that you're crazy color blind, but it does mean that you may not see a particular color as vividly as you may have thought you did. - batguano, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I have taken colourblindness test before, and they have shown that I am not colourblind. However I too could see the 'hidden' images on this reverse colourblind test. i think that this needs some work.
- harpreetgiani, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I am colorblind, and the images were so clear. I was thinking ... how can anyone not see them - there are plainly in sight.
And then i recalled when the exact same thing happens when i am shown an isihara standard dots test chart and i can see nothing but random dots - and i get the same reaction from everyone else - how can u not see it!
But more importantly, too many people have too many wrong ideas about colorblindness
- being color blind does not mean u see the world in black/white
- yes, i do need a color tv - i do not need a black/white tv
- the problem is generally greatest when u have to distinguish between shades of colors
- i end up with a dark-blue/purple, pink/blue, red/green, red/brown confusion generally.
- if the "real" base colors and not the shades are being used, the problem is much lesser
- yes, i can read traffic lights - if the top one is lit, its red and if its the bottom one, its green. color blindness is not the same as being stupid!
- colorblindness affects males mostly.
- females can carry the colorblindness gene but rarely become colorblind
- they do however pass on the gene to their male children, who can (though not always) be colorblind
- its not a disease
- its not surgically correctible
- you can't take any medicines for it
i did read about some goggles though that tint colors slightly so that the shades are reduced to the primary colors and are easier to identify - i have been looking for the website for ages now - if anyone knows what i am talking about, do tell me. - batguano, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2OK,
Just tried on a CRT, and could barely see the hidden images in the reverse test (i knew what they were, so that might have helped a bit). Plus the last image on the standard test was plainly a '5'... I guess this test doesn't work so well on LCD's. - makbryan2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I am pretty darn sure that I am not colorblind, but I could easily see the images. I think this guy might not have any idea what he is doing.
- Teaboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I'd hardly say it would be ruined.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claude_Monet - AutoSciz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is a test I'm glad I failed.
- batguano, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yup, I took this test (the one bpowah linked too) and suppposedly I am not colourblind. One intersting thing:
The last image at first glance looked like an '8' to me, but then I saw the '5'... once i read the text and it stated that normal vision would see the '5' whereas red/green colourblind blind people would see a '2'. I looked at the image again and saw the '2' WTF? Did I see an '8' the first time because i muxed a '2' and a '5'? Do I have supervision? Can I see through dresses? (runs outside to check)
Of course it could be my LCD, will try on a CRT later - 81v3d07g0d, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I have really good eyesight, even better than 20/20 but I know that I am color weak its very strange seeing things that others don't or the other way around. In the reverse test I can see the image in the red gradient pretty clearly but not in the second one until I knew it was there.
Same thing with the real color blindness test, the only one that is clear for me is the one on the top left. In most of the other circles it looks like someone has erased something really well, but I can still almost make it out. On the lower red/green test its a bit hard to see but I see both the 2 and the 5 faintly.
Only thing that sucks is being an artist I have ruined more than a few pictures by using the wrong color. It is kind of interesting suffering with this for so long that this is an easy way to show other people what its like. - chaosmachine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it's a bit easier to see if you 'highlight' the images by click drag selecting them.
- thekak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This doesn't work. I work with a red/green colorblind guy and we saw the same things. Story = Lame.
- Scynet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I'm colorblind and I could see the pictures pretty easily, epsecially the first one.
- picaman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm not colorblind. I couldn't see the images before I saw the answers, and I couldn't see them after I knew the answers either. Amazing test...definitely dugg.
- digga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Amazingly bad spelling for a supposed college student.
- ModernTenshi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It took me a while on the second image, but eventually I could see the difference in contrast. I'll have to try this out on a CRT later to see if I can find the ring in the second image faster (we're pretty much all LCD here at work).
Yes, I am colorblind, though saying I could see the "hidden" images in the . . . images in the article pretty much solidified that statement already.
Cool test, though. - miguelrdp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is nice! although it can bring terrible surprises to someone who doesn's know he or she is colorblind...
- Barryke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Same here.
Looks like its because of my screen brightness (laptop, but hey) because some other more credential color test also told me i was partialy colorblind.
Im not, / never ever noticed anyway. - BoobooKittiFuk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pretty cool
- Barryke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1ok.. insight you've got.. like ...
never hit a fly with a hammer, they wont survive. - BSKTrekkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It worked for me. I'm not colorblind and coudn't see the imbedded images until I knew they were there.
- GregorDV, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't think the tests are quite up to snuff; I'm certifiably Red/Green colorblind, and I couldn't see the top of the first image or any of the 2nd image. The link by bpowah - totally borked the test. Could see the first one, the rest are just noise.
- Dielji, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I could see the first one somewhat clearly, and the second one just barely. Screw around with your monitor's settings if you can see them but you don't think you're colorblind, that might have something to do with it. Although, I imagine it's possible that you're just slightly colorblind and don't know it. I have just a little trouble with the standard test bpowah linked to; though I can still make out every number, they aren't all 100% clear to me. I suppose that could mean I'm only slightly colorblind.
- Ravenhaft, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I saw it, but get this, I'm NOT colorblind. Picked both of them out instantly. Maybe I just have exceptional recognition skills? My friend used to be red-green colorblind, then he got a terrible cold, and sneezed himself to normal! He's not colorblind anymore.
- Jakelshark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think there is a LASEC surgery that can correct color blindness now....keyword I think. I know there are some cheap fixes like wearing special made contacts
- cnrd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0 This test is designed to be a kind of 'anti' colorblindness test - i.e. it's one that colorblind people will be able to pass, while normal vision will fail.
This seems pretty straight forward. - Jakelshark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it is espcially annoying when they dont understand the concept of different types of color blindness
the closest way I could ever describe it is if you take your TV and lower the color and contrast... - harpreetgiani, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thanx. I looked at the site. Looks good to me. I think I'll probably end up buying a pair!
- nomadpete, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0h,
i think you might mean these guys: http://www.colourvision.info/index.html - KCorax, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Best dupe complaint ever !
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -17/+2I'm pretty sure you might not have the ability to read.
The title clearly says "REVERSE" colorblind test.... which means if you can see things, you AREN'T colorblind. Even in the text on the site it says something like "if its painfully obvious to see whats in the image, you are not colorblind"

What is Digg?
