  • S4MF1SHER, on 07/12/2008, -0/+6You know, I always found it interesting when people would ask, "Can I see that?" or "Let me see that" and start reaching for the object in question. They obviously saw it, but actually touching it helps them "see" it better.

    Ive tried the "stand up desk" method and it really does work. See Ben Franklin for one of the sources of this method.

    "If you are reading for enjoyment, put your hands near the display, " he said. "You are going to be less likely to notice, and be distracted by, typographical errors or anomalous sentences. If you are proofreading, put your hands in your lap because you're more likely to detect those incorrect sentences."

    So, yes, dpatel would be more concentrated on the actual content using his finger to follow the words, so he's not wrong. If he were proofreading, he'd avoid reading with his finger, which would have his focus shift to the individual elements rather than the "bigger picture"
