- Junkyarddawg, on 10/12/2007, -3/+70That's just a baby.
THESE are the smallest puffers: http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Oddbal1219.jpg
Tetraodon travancorius grows to just 1", and is a fairly popular aquarium fish.

He was referencing the inflation, not the breathing.
Anyway, they clearly fill up with water. There's no way they could summon a gas out of nowhere like that. - topace3000, on 10/12/2007, -3/+40Comment: Digg has the most absolute titles EVER
- Wonkanobi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31Cool pict, but can we please stop using "EVER" to describe everything?
I'm pretty sure the validity of your claim will be expressed in number of diggs. - Gracieduck24, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23It is so cute i love it, i want one!
- garfonzo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21I have a one in my tank right beside me. They are Drawf Puffers or, Pygmy Puffers. Very cool fish with great personalities!

- Stuart750, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Introducing the newest snack craze, Pocketfish!!!
- thehans, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10It looks like it hasn't shaved in a couple of days.
- DeskFlyer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Hootie unavailable for comment.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Really ever?
- stou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Nice, I am quite partial to the Dog Face Puffer:

Possibly belonging to some kind of giant sailor. - mtwoar, on 10/12/2007, -8/+15They used to sell those at Wal-Mart.
- zeromancer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7no. they can't. that one is dying right in front of you AND YOU'RE DOING NOTHING!
- fudgebrown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Let's see how many fish stories we can get to the front page!
- Domza, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13FUGU ME!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Yeah kind of curious how this is Digg-worthy. These are pretty common. My sister used to have one, very cute fish. You could hand feed them with peeled snails (a nasty process).
- soopafly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7That's actually pretty dangerous for a puffer to puff like that out of the water. It's very difficult for them to exhale the air. While cute, they puff like that as a last resort of defense.
- JayLom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6a) It's not a blowfish. It's a puffer, looks most like the southern puffer (Sphoeroides nephelus) very common in FL and the most harvested species.
b) That is by far not the smallest puffer, though they can get much bigger (softball size when inflated). He is a baby.
c) It is air. They don't "summon" anything. They gulp. Underwater it would be water. Out of the water, it's air. Toss that little guy into the water and he'll (she'll?) float until he lets the air out and bolts underwater
d) Even at that size he's got a nasty little bite. He's only got 4 teeth, 2 in top, 2 on bottom in a beak like shape. Put you finger in there and he'll gladly take a good chunk out
e) Pretty cool in an aquarium but they eat everything and will nip the fins of any fish the can't outright kill
f) Big ones like to steal my damn bait
g) Inedible - thought to be possibly toxic - Filozzi23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6that was my first thought too! It is really cute :)
- addzero, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10I found a smaller blowfish:
http://www.i-code.co.uk/javascript/blowfishhtmlencryption_files/decipher.js
It would be smaller written in Perl with no whitespace though. - zeromancer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5my first thought was: put that ***** thing back in the water before it dies!
- futureisours, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6What is this? What's with all the fish? A fish trifecta in play here?
- wonkavsn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Aww.. he wants to hurt you, but he can't!
- wphj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I had one of those little puffers. He didn't bother the other few fish I had, but one day I looked and saw the the little frog in there was missing an eye. The next day the other eye was gone. Day 3, all that was left was his skeleton on the bottom of the tank.
- Morphinity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Holy crap, I just ***** my pants looking at that thing.
- ultrahombre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3ENCRYPTION BABY
- chingy1788, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i want to put the little puffer inside the 100 year old fish, and the 100 year old fish in that giant fish found in china, which was on digg a few days ago
- thephreak99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You said blow...
(Beavis and Butthead humor) - Casty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Never expected Puffers to make front page on Digg. Well, here's a picture of my Dwarf Puffers, as others said they are truly the smallest pufferfish. (1" tops usually, stores sell them about 1/3-1/2 inch. Very smart as well!)
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e260/csk2/Fish%20Pictures/Oink1.jpg - jeffsback2223, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's cute, I'll give it that :P
- tackle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wait a minute.... I've had a Pea(dwarf) Puffer for over a year... I've never seen it puff like that. When does it do this?
- prth8machine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I used to have a few of those little puffers. They were really cool. Super territorial. Put a little brine shrimp in the tank for them and it was crasy. Plus their little stomachs would swell up as they ate. Those all kinds of puffers I've kept have done that. If you can find them check them out. Just don't keep them with anything else. They like to nip at fins.
- AimlessAbyss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Those are some of the coolest fish in the world! They have such a large size range.
- Erfman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Makes a good ninja throwing weapon in a pinch.
- mrosen310, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Where can i get one
- econojon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It is SOOOO CUTE!!!!!
Can it...can it breathe out of water? - david468, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I caught a little bugger like that down here in the mudflats in Florida...blew my mind.
- nepawoods, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"It can do this ***** only 3 times in it's life dumb ass."
Where did you read that one? - wily6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Digg Pictures
