- effektz, on 10/11/2007, -15/+152It's probably a shot at 'just the right angle' where there's big open space behind the tree and panda, but he's not really up that high. Come on..

- Claw787, on 10/11/2007, -2/+59Who knows?, maybe there's a tiger under the tree.

- donwilson2, on 10/11/2007, -7/+69Maybe he's scared of all of the hippies trying to save his life.
- themastersb, on 10/11/2007, -13/+3I'm gonna make a caption on that saying "HAX!"
- titlesaysitall, on 10/11/2007, -5/+16Maybe the Panda saw a female Panda, that's why it's in a tree and Pandas are dying out.
- Renton, on 10/11/2007, -13/+5I wonder if you could milk a panda...
- Blah_Blah_Blah, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14how the hell are we supposed to know how high that is? the background could be a mile away for all we know.
- stephant, on 10/11/2007, -1/+29No wonder those things are endangered. Sheesh.
. . . and he better get down before he falls. Killing a panda must carry a huge fine and he would clearly be guilty. - quomen, on 10/11/2007, -0/+43Obviously nobody else watched Crouching Tiger Hidden Panda.

- Altotus, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Clearly, the panda is a Remo Williams fanboy. He probably dodges bullets too.
- NoStoppingUs, on 10/11/2007, -7/+2i wonder what he would taste like.
- BeyondGoodNEvil, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1The time will come when "panda" becomes synonymous with "invincible". They will dominate action movies. Even the ***** supercars will be painted to look like a panda. Do you even dare speak about the panda with less than absolute reverence and humility? If you value your soul, you certainly will not, because in this future time, all the religions shall name panda as god of the universe, and to deny it only proves irrefutably that you deserve to be tortured to death.
This is the future... IF we continue PANDering to panda vanity and confidence building.
edit: do you see what I did there? "PANDering"... it's like pandering, but with PAND capitalized so as to allude to a Panda pun.
Panda panda panda. - insecuregirl, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0It was taken just before it fell to its death...another Panda lost...
- redheadguy719, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2panda=BAMF!
- jmchez, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Darn! I saw the picture before reading the comments and my first thought was (exactly verbatim), "No ***** way... How is that tree supporting the Panda's weight?"
- mustacheo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Me a naughty panda. Me wanna see how the world looks down under.

The tree isn't holding the panda up. The panda is holding the earth down. - idontlikeyou2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1bamboo is alot thicker and stronger than most people think. From someone that has been whacked by it.

- FameMoney, on 10/11/2007, -0/+53That Panda is a master of balance.
- agrabob, on 10/11/2007, -54/+10and laziness. Even most humans don't need porn to "be fruitful and multiply."
- cankillar, on 10/11/2007, -4/+40@agrabob
...whatnow? where in the heck did that come from? - Klowner, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18agrabob is referring to panda porn, most likely, as seen here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15852885/ and http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/11/061113-panda-mate.html
- Caps, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13@ cankillar
Some endangered species of panda that are in captivity are dying out because the won't mate... - tamurlane6, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11@ Klowner: You mean that ***** is for Pandas! ... Damn.
- Drexus, on 10/11/2007, -9/+2No, not scared. Just hungry.
- DeskFlyer, on 10/11/2007, -5/+14The photographer could have provided a better effect by providing more context, like the rest of the tree it was sitting on top of. Still a neat photo though.
- rabidstrike, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13it prolly did have.. looks like cropped all the way to china.
- quomen, on 10/11/2007, -0/+19No, the composition was fine. If the photographer wanted to emphasize the height, then he would've. The picture is oriented so that the panda is the main subject, not the tree.
- DeskFlyer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Touche, touche. :)
- schmik07, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Maybe it wasn't a ***** professional photographer with his tripod walkin past. Can someone not take a picture without some cockface wanker having a go at the composition of the photograph?
I'd hate to show you my holiday photographs. You'd make me feel like an amateur. Why can't someone just take a photo for the memory or on the spur of the moment without it having to be a ***** artistic masterpiece? - heynoop, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1@schmik07
maybe because... this is from a "global news agency" that has professional photographers working for them? i mean, i'm just taking a wild guess though.
you see... typically, once you get to at least amateur status in a craft... you usually start learning more technical things... not just randomly take pictures of 'cool *****'.
- dyckdownunder, on 10/11/2007, -8/+187A Panda walks into a restaurant and orders a meal. At the end of the meal, he calls up the waiter, pulls a gun and shoots the guy dead and walks out. The Manager runs over to him.
"What the hell, man! Why'd you do that?"
The Panda looks at him before leaving and shrugs, "I'm a Panda, look it up"
The Manager Googles Panda later on.
Panda: An Asian Mammal, distinctive by its Black and white markings. Eats shoots and leaves.- zybch, on 10/11/2007, -7/+32A skeleton walks into a bar and says "I'll have a beer, and a mop."
- ajchavar, on 10/11/2007, -3/+59i got into it with a guy at a bar, he said "buddy, i'm gonna mop the floor with your face"
i said, "yeah, well thats not a good idea if i were you"
"oh yeah, why nit?"

- Iolite, on 10/11/2007, -5/+4A hamburger walks into a bar. The bartender looks up and yells, "Get out! We don't serve food here!"
- spudnic, on 10/11/2007, -14/+3@dyckdownunder (#7295063)
You got it wrong... it's 'Eats, shoots and leaves'.
/pendant, but in this case it's kinda the crux of the joke - dyckdownunder, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12no I didn't get it wrong. "Eats shoots and leaves" would be the correct grammar one would find in an encyclopedia. I feel anal for explaining it to you...but since you're anal enough to try and poke holes in it....i don't feel so bad
- Jugalator, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Yes, like dyck said, obviously it's "eats shoots": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoot :-p
OK, that's another joke ruined. :-p - tizz66, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3spudnic is right, you do need a comma in there. The joke is that the panda was carrying an encyclopedia with him that had a grammatical error, thus telling the panda his species 'eats, shoots and leaves' which he duly follows. I feel anal for explaining it to you, but the way you worded the joke it just doesn't work. Your joke is based on a misinterpretation, not on a grammar error, which is the point of this particular joke. Go buy the book called "Eats, shoots and leaves" if you don't believe me.
- acebrickman, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7"...eats shoots and leaves" would be in the encyclopedia
"eats, shoots, and leaves" is what you say in your head when grasping the joke
Thus, humor.
***** - tizz66, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3Oh for crying out loud. That is NOT the joke. You are basing the joke on a misinterpretation which is NOT the joke. The joke is a grammatical error in the encyclopedia which makes the panda think he should 'eat, shoot and leave'. Look, read the section called 'Title': http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eats,_Shoots_&_Leaves
I can't believe so many people can't see the problem here. Christ. - REBELinBLUE, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8The original joke is
A panda walks into a café. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and proceeds to fire it at the other patrons.
“Why?” asks the confused, surviving waiter amidst the carnage, as the panda makes towards the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.
“Well, I'm a panda,” he says at the door. “Look it up.”
The waiter turns to the relevant entry in the manual and, sure enough, finds an explanation. “Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves.”
Notice the , in the final sentence, it is the entire premise of the joke. - ThePict, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1It's funny either way! Everyone get a life and shut up!
- CptBuck, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17Maybe if there was room for 2 pandas at the top of a tree they wouldn't be dying from the inability to screw...
- gdgi, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5in this month's 'bizarre' mag they have some pics of panda's watching panda porn...it did NOT work however (contrary to what has been mentioned here)

- OUChevelleSS, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8This is the kind of thing that gets a lot of diggs, and I'm not really sure why. Can you just picture this getting enough to be talked about on diggnation? 'Next storraaaay....panda bear not scared of heights! Look at this bear!'
- sail191912, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4The goats had their chance. It's the panda's turn now.

- DeFex, on 10/11/2007, -2/+17The GIANT PANDA
pros:
cute
unique color scheme
not on Chinese cool foods and drugs made from rare species menu
cons:
too stupid to breed
cant understand physics
eat exclusively nutritiously worthless bamboo
live in china
even without humans they would not last much longer.- Audscias, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11
Even more.
Pandas copulate once every 8 years.
Thet only have 1 little panda every time.
They have a 20% of infertility rate.
They eat a kind of bambú that blooms once every 25 years.
Wow, poor ultra-nerd panda, he just has it all.- screensnot, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1"Pandas copulate once every 8 years."

From now on unless it shows a hot ass chick, I'm burying any story with a picture as its main draw.- pferdestarke, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3There goes Digg, again, catering to the lowest common denominator
