PETA goes crazy: Your Daddy Kills Animals
fishinghurts.com — PETA just found that fish "feel pain," so they started this hilarious campaign telling kids to keep pets away from Dad because he's "hooked on killing defenseless animals." Be sure to click on the "View a larger image of the leaflet" button at the bottom.

- kwilliam71, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I'm an avid sportsman... I just LOVE PETA freaks! They are so easy to offend. "eh-um... excuse me, but you have some deer intestine on your shoe." Ha! I crack me up.
- cjurczak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I love the part about "Christian" should not eat fish...WOW I think that PETA needs to just lay off sometimes...the only reason I'm digging is to hopefully run them up a bandwidth bill...lol...
- spam, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2the dead air podcast had a really cool prank call to PETA about this this past week. check it out: deadair.tv
- kwilliam71, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Until your daddy learns the it's not 'fun' to kill, keep your doggies and kittens away from him."
Ah ha ha ha! - pandemonium, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11For the record, PETA has ALWAYS been crazy. This is not a new phenomenon.
- magister, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I wonder if we should tell the peta people that fish eat eachother? Maybe their next goal is convert all fish into vegetarians.
- Gemfinder, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1Don't laugh, they're firmly into their campaign to turn all dogs into vegetarians.
- jinksys, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I love the "ad" at the top of the page. I especially love the one that basically says fish are smarter than dogs or hamsters. So its not ok to hook fish....but its ok to put a hook in skippy's milk-bone? lol
- zediker, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Fish feel pain, right, and you can prove this how PETA? Did the fish tell you it feels pain? Even if it does, does it have enough intelligence to understand and feel pain as we do? Pain is an emotion and though a primitive emotion requires intelligence to fully comprehend aka the difference between a severed limb's pain and stubbing your toe. How intense is their pain if it does exist? Is it a sore throb or a torrent of aggony?
I will go with option C and say they are just making this up to fit their corporate agenda (I believe they are a corporation just like Greenpeace) - iamhumble, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6we must hunt PETA for the better of mankind.
- texastig, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10PETA = People Eating Tasty Animals
Humm, Jesus ate fish! - FoneJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8PETA should be lined up and shot along with all of Sony's management. What else is there to say?
- sporkman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4PETA is so gay. they kill thousands of dogs and cats each year also.
- nativeraver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2DAMNIT!
Now I'm hungry for some blackend catfish. - master_of_fm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8"dont eat the tuna", "why?", "because dolphins get caught in the nets!", "Well what about the tuna fish", "***** them, they taste good"
- ArchAngel21x, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2PETA = People for the Execution of The Animals
- TracerX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2texastiq: not according to PETA's PR people. I watched one tell Neil Cavuto that many people believe Jesus is a vegetarian... I almost fell out of my chair on that one. (She was responding to Neil's question as to whether or not we should now consider Jesus a serial killer because of the fishes and loaves rofl)
- master_of_fm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8"who are you?" "i'm an otter, I lie on my back and do cute human things", "you are free to go, next, what are you?", "i am a cow", "go over in the line with the tuna fish, NEXT!"
- slhilbert, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1OMG! I have fished before... Is there anyway I can be clean again?

http://www.getyourowntots.com - whoatemydigg, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Zediker. Youre an idiot. Go shoot yourself in the head with a shotgun and then ask yourself you do you feel pain afterward but not before you interview a newborn baby after youve cut off its legs if it felt pain.
- mcgillicutty, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Hey, this story is a little ridiculous and PETA doesn't always choose the most effective ways of getting its point across (photos of strategically covered "naked" celebrities who don't wear fur--what a joke) but who are they really hurting besides the sensibilities of meat-eaters and hunters?
They're not a corporation like Sony. Either you buy into their ethos or not. No harm, no foul (or fowl). - ThisGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's the sheer ignorance of the science which they are using to thrust forward their ego-massaging "activism" that really angers me.
Why do people choose a "cause" and fight and fight and fight until well after it becomes apparent that they are wrong, and long after they lose all credibility?
Do you think PETA members can sense pain? - CaptSnuffy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Don't they have anything better to do?
All my friends who are fish say they don't mind, so it's really okay. - nugge7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2But fish is goood.
- geuis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah fish feel pain. Sometimes PETA is on the right track, to prevent undue cruelty to animals and such. They've done a lot of good work in raising the care of farm animals and zoo animals too.
However, if this is real its ridiculous. Even when you're on the right side, propaganda pieces like this do absolutely nothing for your cause. Boo PETA. - mycatsboots, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5PETA (and most ethical vegetarians) believe in flawed logic.
I will briefly summarize their logic.
PETA: Cannot hurt animals -> animals are life -> all life is equal -> Don't kill animals because that is like killing human life.
HOWEVER!!!
Plants = Life = Foodsource
Get over it, if you respect all life then respect plants just as much as you would animals, and basically starve and die. All life is equal, but face it survival is the greatest human instinct, and we've become an adapted society that eats meat and plants alike. We will kill animals no matter how cute or fuzzy and we will eat vegetables no matter how green or orange. - mcgillicutty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Agreed, when PETA rely on sketchy science they're not at their best but I don't agree that it's ego-massaging to pick a relatively well-defined organization/cause and run with it (open-source software, anti-DRM, whatever). of course, there should be some follow-up self-education to avoid becoming dogmatic and think all the issues through.
- redban2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I love messing with PETA.. I had them real pissed with this: http://www.bluetorture.com
- craftycorner, on 03/04/2008, -0/+1Frog dead?
- ksgant, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I won't kill animals anymore. I'll only kill PETA members. Will that make them happy then?
Ok, that's satire/humor. I do NOT condone nor will I seek out PETA members to kill.
Also, does PETA go after wolves when they hunt deer? Wolves are animals, people are animals, deer are animals. Yet one can kill a deer and the other can't. Now is that fair?- Gemfinder, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1They go after orcas that kill baleen whales. Does that count?
And I wonder what they'd say if they knew baleen whales — supposedly "gentle vegetarians" — eat small fish? As in, swallowed whole and alive, digested to death?
If a dog is a rat is a pig is a boy, then how come the dog, the rat and the pig can hunt and they boy can't?
- Gemfinder, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1They go after orcas that kill baleen whales. Does that count?
- retr0spectiv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://petakillsanimals.com/
'nuff said - ksgant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Also, did anyone see Penn & Teller's ***** when they went after PETA? That was priceless.
- mcgillicutty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Perhaps this is more sketchy science (i'm no biologist, zoologist) but isn't PETA's argument for not eating plants based on plants not having developed nervous systems for feeling pain. Anybody?
- craftycorner, on 03/04/2008, -0/+1Plants react and feel things. They do it in slow motion. Watch David Atinborow's "Secret Life Of Plants" and you will see them acting just like animals under special photography.
- ThisGeek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1What are you talking about whoatemydigg? Zediker is perfectly right in stating that "pain" is a word which cannot be understood in black and white terms.
When one of those robot vacuum cleaners hits the leg of a chair, it backs away, does it feel pain?
PETA is mistaking a biological mechanism for an emotion, and think's that it is all the more superior for doing so.
I'm off to fetch my pitchfork and march on the PETA HQ (which is probably a Volkswagon Campervan somewhere. hoho) - Tracon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5i hunt turkey every year and the lady/PETA nutjob next door to my land is always out trying to spoke the turkeys away from me. and i just laugh because every year she drives them right at me and i cant stop laughing cause it works great for deer too.
BTW most fish can repair damage to there mouths within hours and can actualy digest hooks very easly. The fact is most hunters and fisherman know more about the animals they hunt than the people trying to stop them. - smhill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Damn. It seems like every-time they do something lately all they do is alienate/piss-off more people.
PETA makes me wanna go out and kick a puppy. - xylene, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah but what we really need is some more hot PETA chicks to take off their clothing on Howard Stern again. That was excellent!
- kyote, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3tunafish just doesn't taste the same now that they took the dolphin out. :(
- Fieri, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!
- giveer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2PETA is a sensationalist organization that endorses violence through silence. "We don't condone it, but we don't condemn it." Of course you don't.
Supporting the FLA and Rodney Coronado -a convicted arsonist-, killing thousands of animals per year and housing a vice-president who treats her type 2 diabetes with medicine discovered through testing on dogs tells me that the organization is full of sh*t.
Bellow your screams elsewhere like at governments that starve humans, or held back medicines for Africa.
These folk would run over 3 people to save a dog. Screwed up. - Vektuz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sorry peta, but until fish climb out the water and start shooting people, earning money, voting, and so on, humans > fish. It might not be hippy-happy but its reality.
- dotpage, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh, go hug a tree!!!
People Eat Tasty Animals RULZ!!! - FaNtAsMa, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I'm pretty sure that deer, cattle, buffalo, chickens, bears, etc feel pain too, but no one gives a ***** about them.. why should we care about fish?
- iamhumble, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1chk out http://digg.com/links/*****:_PETA_Episode_(_what_a_bunch_of_two_face_people_)
- matthiasfclark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2PETA is one of the craziest groups out there. Someone should put a leash on all of them, and drag them into the San Francisco bay so that they can enjoy the fun living down there. You might as well attach weights at the same time.
Fishing is great. Fish is tasty. It's a great sport! - darthleppard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Also, does PETA go after wolves when they hunt deer? Wolves are animals, people are animals, deer are animals. Yet one can kill a deer and the other can't. Now is that fair?'
using your logic, the next time a person is killed by a shark/wolf/snake/etc. there should be no complaints whatsoever. - digitalsin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3PETA does quite a bit of good work out there. PETA is not just about vegetarianism, but is also about stopping the cruelty to animals in lab testing, slaughter houses, etc. Unfortunately there are still too many rednecks out there that think that looking at everything PETA has to say is somehow a threat to their manliness.
Quite a few of you should do a bit of research before just spewing nonsensical flame garbage and making yourselves look like fools. - tont0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2anyone else catch the sexism in this?? they say 'your daddy' as if your 'mommy' doesnt fish. not that i really care, but if you wanna be PC about it....
- mrkoje, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have never met or seen anyone from PETA.
- ThisGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that's right darthleppard, lets form an anti-human-eating-animal-activism-group.
If we lobby them enough and creat enough idiotic leaflets then maybe these "animals" will cease and desist with their quite frankly victorian hobby of killing maiming and eating humans.
People Eaten Terribly's Allies - patonw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0goes? you mean "continues to be"
- kACE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0We had a somewhat similar case here in Norway last year when an animal rights group creates quite a commotion because the Nature Fond of Norway gave away free fishing rods to school children...
