Origins of Cancer: Rare Mutant Cells Glimpsed
sciencedaily.com — MIT biological engineers have developed a new imaging system that allows them to see cells that have undergone a specific mutation. The work, which could help scientists understand how precancerous mutations arise, marks the first time researchers have been able to pinpoint the number and location of mutant cells in intact tissue.

- Odenized, on 07/24/2008, -0/+11Love the direction scientists are going with this. It gives me a lot of hope for the future and the health of the world. =)
- msaleem, on 07/24/2008, -1/+9What's sad is that even though scientists continue to work hard to find the cure, there are millions of preventable (cancer-related) deaths each year that we the people are too stupid, shortsighted, and lazy to do anything about.
- Cuchanu, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5Agreed. My mother-in-law is dead now because she failed to get a proper diagnosis until it was too late, instead relying on a Dr. of Natural Medicine which didn't help at all. Not that natural medicine doesn't have it's place but a proper diagnosis is as important as anything.
- zwanderer, on 07/24/2008, -4/+5indian ayurveda has some best of the cancer cures i've heard ... each year a new discovey takes place but till now really nobody has been able to find a cure :P

- BradOFarrell, on 07/24/2008, -2/+1In Mega Man Star Force, alien radiation gives characters astrology-themed super powers. One character boasts that the radiation gave him Cancer.
- davidbeile, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3Closer to finding a cure; or being able to prevent it all together.
- kmattso, on 07/24/2008, -2/+2That's preposterous, everyone knows our mutants have flippers - oops, I've said too much. Smithers, get the amnesia ray.
- lead2thehead, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1This makes me realize how much it must suck to be a lab mouse.
- PopASquatt, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1I'm starting to think that this is un-curable. I want my money back.
- Radan, on 07/25/2008, -2/+1Ok, I may not directly have a doctor's degree in the research of cancer, but that title just looks wrong. My first thought was no ***** it's a mutated cell that causes cancer, in fact that is pretty much what cancer is; mutated cells.
- eggballs, on 07/25/2008, -4/+1Cancer is a plague and nothing will stop it. We must repent!
- hwy9nightkid, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2I hope they find a early detector of cancer, this is the easiest way to beat it usually.
- SiXiam, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2"I'm going to fight cancer. But since I can't find cancer, I'm going to fight this guy WITH cancer!"
-South Park : Russell Crowe - DinosWillDie13, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1this sounds like a really ***** big deal. Why is this not more popular?
- mrzack, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1*****!! Origins of cancer is when people don't eat enough anti-oxidants, or their system is too acidic and their immune system and nervous system can't defeat the cancer cells. so simple. Eat right, take supplements, drink more water. BOOM, no cancer.
- thereisnostate, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1If you want some cancer prevention cut back on your sugar intake. Cancer cells derive their energy primarily from sugar.
