Of course, it would be a waste of time to even have "people looking" molecules too, depending on how much you're interested in chemistry and such things that don't look like anything special in a macro perspective anyway. Conversely, this can be of interest and not a waste of time for people who like to do something for fun, in this case experimenting with bindings. Not everything is about spending your time most efficiently (especially proven if commenting stories on Digg), and people have different interests, that's all.
"I have to wonder about the collective Digg IQ."
Yeah, me too. - elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Wraith, that's not what he means. He's giving us another link with more information, but he's warning that it is a PDF. He's not making a comment on the article.
- shogunu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Wraithrealm, you dumb ass, he was providing more resources to his own article.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Wow... You know we've mastered a science when scientists make stuff like this.
- b0wl0fud0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Watch one of these figures end up being a cure for cancer or something....

- capn_caveman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4PDF file link - don't click if you hate links to PDF files:

Some more molecules and information in there. Diagrams 51, 52, and 53 are hysterical. - Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hehe, that's kind of interesting, although I use to quote Stephen Hawking on the question of his IQ:
"I have no idea. People who boast about their IQ are losers."
Generally I'm an IQ test non-believer as they're too limited in scope, and I think they often define IQ too poorly in the first place. Being "smart" can be so many things. Is a person avoiding fights being smart? Is a person getting laid often being smart? Surely it can seem so from an evolutionary perspective. :-) Even if I'm using extremes here a bit jokingly, I honestly think there's differences between logical intelligence and e.g esthetical intelligence. Being a software developer, I can truly look up to and admire great music composers and don't understand how they could pull *that* off.
Oh and IQ 135 sounds a bit much given that ~120 is often an average among university students, or so I've heard. :-) - Angostura, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can't believe that no-one has mentioned the compound 'Arsole' yet. Ah well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arsole
- capn_caveman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ grafenburg: do you know ANYTHING about organic chemistry? If you did, you would realize the challenges involved in this type of work.
- capn_caveman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not finding, but synthesizing. BIG difference.
- Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wish our chemsitry teacher had the imagination and spirit to do some of these to spice up our classes :-(
(or if lacking the skill, at least look into similar resources) - goatrandy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I actually did a a quick survey in an attempt to judge Digg users average IQ once. Although my crappy webhost (GoDaddy) deleted the actual content. We're actually fairly intelligent on average, I believe the average was about 135.
EDIT - Found the original Digg article though: http://digg.com/technology/Digg_Users_Aren_t_Smart__2 - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wheres the nanopornstar?
- nkassi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@Battlecry: I agree. Also I don't get the athlete one ? What is that thing on his head ?
Nic - himmler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Excellent stuff !
I hope they will give us some 3D view or electronic microscope view of those
beasts soon. - wrinkles, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2While the molecular diagrams may resemble stick men, the actual 3-D molecules would more closely resemble unremarkable blobs. Waste of time.
Considering the outrage expressed on Digg regarding the "bad science" of investigating NDE's, I have to wonder about the collective Digg IQ. - jdstorer2, on 10/12/2007, -25/+2http://scienceblogs.com/scientificactivist/2006/06/fantastical_fridays_organic_pe.php
Does that look like a PDF to you?
