- dirtmaster, on 10/12/2007, -25/+5the average digg user: atheist, hates vista, loves macs, impeach, hippie.
- KuntaKinte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17grandmas kick ass, they love and give and will defend you at all costs
- ortucis, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Bu..but my grandma spits and yells at me and slaps me whenever I cross her failing eyesight.. :(
- guitarh3ro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Dude, my grams mashed potatoes are amazing. I should ask her to make enough for all of digg to have, then we could all have a giant mashed potato and sweater knitting party.
- Jennifurret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Awesome article. I love this stuff - this is what I plan to study one day. And I swear, my grandma is in more shape than I am. She put her kitchen in the basement so she'd have to constantly go up and down stairs as a work out. Mmm, I miss Yia yia's Greek food...
Err, I digress. - skyfire1, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1My grandma is a crazy bitch that seems to think that my mom abducted her. She also screams at my siblings a lot too.
- MattJF317, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Oh... I had thought the origin of grandmas was great grandparents...
- Rosco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2God Bless the Grandma's. I miss mine, they were the best.
- lbeaty1981, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If it wasn't for my granny, I probably never would have survived past childhood. Whenever I got in trouble, she was always there to remind him of all the trouble he got into at our age. Compared to him, I was a saint!
- leahculver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Awesome. Well written and an interesting read.
- Akaji, on 10/12/2007, -28/+1Stop using Digg as your personal blog-advertising site.
- Mullers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I'm pretty sure she's allowed to submit what she wants as long as it's not spam or against terms of service. Besides, if people are willing to dig it then where's the problem? I'd certainly do it for a little more traffic.
- pennyfan87, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Yeah, like Digg would ever remove anything against the terms of service...
- jhnewt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8What about grandfathers? Because I don't have a very good chance of being a grandmother...
- Hobotime, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3@jhnewt
Don't give up. If you do, then they win. - SilverBack101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think Grandfathers play a different role. Biologically speaking they may not present much for a child, however, they could really play a big role in a childs life if the Father of the child isn't present. So, in the end they can be the male figure in a childs life.
In other cases they can be trusted to take a child out for a trip to the zoo or park. :)
Unfortunately, I wouldn't know since both my Granddad's passed away before I was born.
Still gotta love those Grandparents! - ostracize, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Grandfathers are an accented version of your own father. They let you get away with more and bribe you with candy and cash more often.
- AxeSwinger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well known fact. Children love Grandfathers no one understands why but they do.
- Hobotime, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3@jhnewt
- futureisours, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I love my gaga.

- bRUTALkANOODLE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I sent the article to my grandma who liked it too. she lives far away but i did spend lots of summers at her house.
- Nerdculture, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If you are interested in stuff like this I suggest that you read "Guns, Germs, and Steel" by Jared Diamond.
- Jennifurret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I also recommend "The Red Queen" by Matt Ridley. Talks about human evolution in terms of sex, and I'm sure everyone here likes sex.
- Slacker101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I love old ppl. So funny yet so wise. And yes I'm only alive because of them. Ok not rlly but I did love my old ppl. To bad their all dead. furnerals can be so sad.=------(

- silverchrysalis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2come back to digg when you're about 20.
- mal1964, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Oh, poor Diggers. I almost feel sorry for you, trapped in the awkward phase of diaper daze, not knowing the rich rewards of being a grown up.
- dotspace, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Great article!
My mother lives right down the street from us, and is a life-saver in the care of our maniac toddler son. She'll be 71 this week. And even survived stage-4 colon cancer in '95. "Gigi", as our son calls her, has more energy than any of us. - jgreene777, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2you guys are a little too upset with the whole ID set, aren't you? if ID was such a dumb idea, why give it merit by fighting so vehemently?
i'm a christian and i think evolution is possible. the last i read, though, there was no proof. i guess believing in evolution is a faith thing...
i think the problem you guys have is not with REAL christians. it is with people who have been taught something their whole life and they believe it even though their religion doesn't even take a standpoint on the idea. there is NO SCIENCE in the Bible and scientists should not allow faith in a god or lack of faith in a god to sway their opinions one way or the other. the problem is that when science discovers something that refutes what many people THINK the bible tells them (it's actually tradition, not the text itself) those people resent science for proving them wrong. when scientists make claims that god doesn't exist, they are making a mistake. a scientist should never take a stand on a problem when no way exists to prove them right or wrong. if no data exists and no way to measure or test exists, it is the responsibility of science to have no opinion on the subject. evolution neither proves or disproves the existence of god. the existence of god neither proves nor disproves the theory of evolution.- Jennifurret, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Um...no one said anything negative about Christians in this post. Do you just start going on rants whenever someone says the word "evolution"?
- SilverBack101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Me thinks jgreen777 posted in the wrong article.
- jgreene777, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2did you read the article and visit the site? they are pretty adamant about their hatred of religion.
- hilo4321, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1good article and especially title! i actually caught that one
- TheKingOfHell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't have any grandparents left... But I know my mother and my mother in law would make terrific grandmothers. Thanks a lot.
- UncleBadTouch, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Picture.....your Grandma.....Naked.
Sorry guys, I had to do it. - offwithyourtv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I was so fortunate to grow up within walking distance of my grandmother, until she died of colon cancer when I was in eighth grade. She played a huge role in my upbringing. I miss her. She was one of my favorite people in the world.
- WinBear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd be curious to see how much data could be gathered on women who were grandmothers by 40, great-grandmothers by 60 and how often a great-great-grandmother at ~80 figures in. My sister's oldest daughter just had her first child at 20, my sister is not even 40, and our mom turned 60 after the baby was born and impressively, her mother is still alive at 82. They were able to get a 5-generation photo a few weeks after the baby was born.
