It can be cold there in the winter. I slept in a tent on a very cold night once near the north rim and have to say it wasn't the most comfortable night I've ever had. Snow is reasonably common there in the winter.

Thought I'd be watching those great specials all the time on cool places and peoples I would never get to see in person.... instead I get the dog whisperer and a whole load of ***** shows on hauntings and other pseudo-science crap ("Tune in at 8 for the Worlds largest oil tanker!!").

      Show me an informative documentary on how the dog became domesticated and such a huge part of the human existance - *thats* what I expect from National Geographic.

    It sounds so horrible...like they're trying to appeal to 12 year old kids or something.
    It's National Geographic. It has been forever. Trying to 'cool it up' makes me lose respect for them on some level. It's a good outfit. But trying to sell it to younger people by using that terms is suspicious.
