'Living Dinosaur' Is Fastest Evolving Animal
sciencedaily.com — A study of New Zealand's "living dinosaur", the tuatara, found that although tuatara have remained largely physically unchanged over very long periods of time, they are evolving - at a DNA level - faster than any other animal yet examined.

- hcharger, on 03/24/2008, -6/+4 So, here we go again just as your comments suggests, that this research cements the age old theory of evolution that has more discrepacies in it than the Catholic church. This research study does not prove evolution beyond a doubt at all, because metabolism differs in every walk of life, animal and human.
The word evolution is easily used to explain things that are much more complex than man could ever contemplate, just as a creator who could create a complex mind that all humans possess, yet most experts cannot even break the tip of the iceberg to understand it.
So they use their educated intelligence to convince others of an issue (Theory of Evolution) that is impossible to prove and illogical to explain to reassure themselves and others that in no way they will ever be accountable to Jehovah God.- JayD16, on 03/24/2008, -1/+1hcarger knows this thing can't be evolving. It looks exactly the same as when Noah put a pair on the arc, right?
- dynelol, on 03/24/2008, -0/+7You seem stupid enough that neither side would have you represent them. You're aren't a shame to Atheism or Creationism...just humanity.
- warriormonk, on 03/24/2008, -3/+2The article doesn't say exactly "how" the creature is supposedly evolving. I know it's at the DNA level, but is information actually being added? If so, what is it? Did the researchers simply notice changes over time and ASSUME it is "evolving"? It could be simply adapting to changes in its environment, and we all know that evolutionists like to equate adaptation with evolution (like the beaks of Darwin's finches, which are simply evidence of adaptation, not macroevolution). The article leaves a lot of questions unanswered.
- gudnbluts, on 03/24/2008, -0/+2I hadn't heard this new meme. Adaptation isn't evolution? You nutters have new talking points all the time.
- JayD16, on 03/24/2008, -0/+2Adaptation IS evolution. There's no difference between micro and macro evolution besides time.

- hcharger, on 03/24/2008, -5/+4 Very remarkable, mortal men who specualate issues that support their theories, yet still do not have valid proof of Evolution because of the timesframe involved where it can never be proven wrong by common people, you come out with a statement such as, "WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW!"
Obviously Jehovah God hasn't extracted his wrath upon unbelievers such as yourself and others as he is patient and long-suffering hoping you come to your senses before he finally brings an end to this foolish wisdom of men who could never humble themselves because of an abundance of pride.- dynelol, on 03/24/2008, -2/+5I just figured you were a higher end troll. Now i'm beginning to think you're really trying to make a difference...on digg. I must've given you too much credit.
- JayD16, on 03/24/2008, -1/+2So men are prideful huh? Men, made by god, have faults god may or may not have for seen. So you're saying that
A) god is flawed and cannot make a prideless man or didn't see the pride in his creation.
B) god's plan requires men to have pride but YOU don't seem to support god's plan.
Either your religion of an omnipotent creator is false or you just don't believe in him as much as you think...
Now can we all(looking at you bobo) put this religion stuff to rest and continue having an adult conversation about science.

Incidentally, I had a book about reptiles and amphibians as a kid and it had a page or so about the tuatara. Always thought they were pretty awesome looking.

- keitarofujiwara, on 03/24/2008, -0/+1"We want to go on and measure the rate of molecular evolution for humans, as well as doing more work with moa and Antarctic fish to see if rates of DNA change are uncoupled in these species. There are human mummies in the Andes and some very good samples in Siberia where we have some collaborators, so we are hopeful we will be able to measure the rate of human evolution in these animals too."
What's there to measure? Microchips are not produced by lizards! - Pinkertinkle, on 03/24/2008, -0/+2The tuatara is older than dinosaurs. I'm writing a review paper about em.

- Djerrid, on 03/24/2008, -0/+4I wondered if the fastest evolving species might be co-dependents with another species - ie mutualism. That way when one species changed genetically, the other would have to change in order to keep up and vice versa.
