- Darren07, on 06/29/2008, -13/+106No, the brain doesn't "lie", these people are just plain ignorant.
Stupidity is not a medical condition. - jakdracula, on 06/29/2008, -10/+75Barack Obama is a DEVOUT CHRISTIAN. His favorite book is the BIBLE, which he has memorized. His name means HE WHO LOVES JESUS in the ancient language of Aramaic. He is PROUD that Jesus was an American.
There are many things people do not know about BARACK OBAMA. I hope this will clear things up:
Barack Obama goes to church every morning. He goes to church every afternoon. He goes to church every evening. He is IN CHURCH RIGHT NOW.
Barack Obama's new airplane includes a conference room, a kitchen, and a MEGACHURCH.
Barack Obama wears an AMERICAN FLAG PIN at all times. Even in the shower.
Barack Obama says the PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE every time he sees an American flag. He also ends everyone of his spoken and written sentences with "AND LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL."
A tape exists of Michelle Obama saying the PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE at a conference on PATRIOTISM.
Every weekend, Barack and Michelle take their daughters HUNTING.
Barack Obama is a PATRIOTIC AMERICAN. He has one HAND over his HEART at all times. He occasionally switches when one arm gets tired, which is almost never because he is SO STRONG.
Barack Obama has the DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE tattooed on his stomach. It's upside-down, so he can read it while doing sit-ups.
There's only one artist on Barack Obama's iPod: FRANCIS SCOTT KEY.
Barack Obama's skin is the color of AMERICAN SOIL.
Barack Obama buys AMERICAN STUFF. He owns a FORD, a BASEBALL TEAM, and a COMPUTER HE BUILT HIMSELF FROM AMERICAN PARTS. He travels mostly by FORKLIFT.
Barack Obama says that Americans cling to GUNS and RELIGION because they are AWESOME. - chicken101, on 06/29/2008, -5/+45But in America we like to label everything as a medical condition, that way we can sell more drugs and people don't have to be responsible for themselves.
- terencec, on 06/29/2008, -1/+38who the hell still thinks the earth is the centre of the solar system?
- anshuman, on 06/29/2008, -1/+29" digg is source for breaking news. " - My brain.
- Gndoab, on 06/29/2008, -1/+28Is Barack Obama the new Chuck Norris? Find out at 10.
- mrzeero, on 06/29/2008, -7/+3292% think they can communicate with imaginary beings. Damn you trickster brain!
- kansoki, on 06/29/2008, -2/+23If you read the article you'd understand what they were referring to. It's more about basic psychology and the art of propaganda: the more you repeat a supposed "fact" to someone, the less they'll remember the source and validity of said "fact". Once your brain has accepted some bit of knowledge, it'll use it as a basis for future observations, which could be seen as "lying to you".
- zwaldowski, on 06/29/2008, -0/+17Because he might be a supah-secret Muslim superterrorist in disguise to infiltrate the Great Democracy That Is The United States of America, ***** Yeah!
- coltraning, on 06/29/2008, -9/+25Is that the same 18 percent who still support George W. Bush?
- SqlByte, on 06/29/2008, -0/+14So you posted links to wikipedia to prove to us that they are wrong !?
- bassman12593, on 06/29/2008, -3/+17Dugg for "a structure deep in the brain about the size and shape of a fat man's curled pinkie finger"
Pure win. - Cate320, on 06/29/2008, -2/+14This also reminds me of an experiment I was told of in a Physiology class to show how flawed our memories are.
They took a large group of students that all attended the same party and 2 who didn't and had them discuss what happened at the party. The 2 students who weren't at the party, played along and made up party stories to tell to the rest of the group.
They brought them back a year later and asked them about those absent students. Some of the people actually "remembered" them being there, remembered interacting with them even.
Interesting stuff :) - DeathByPOGs, on 06/29/2008, -1/+13i loved this
- SuperSunny, on 06/29/2008, -3/+15I like how you used "Hussein" as his first name, rather than Obama. It's really awesome!
No it's not, you've utterly fail at manipulation. - yuanzhoulu, on 06/29/2008, -5/+16how the ***** does it matter what obama's religion is?
- inactive, on 06/29/2008, -0/+11Hahaha. There are also people who remember interacting with me at my high school prom. They remember things we talked about, what I was wearing, how my hair looked, etc. Problem is, I didn't go to my high school prom, or anybody else's for that matter. And yet, 30 years later, if it's ever brought up in conversation, they'll argue with me about it. I guess it's good for me that they all liked my dress and thought my hair was gorgeous. Funny how no one can remember who my date was though..........
- mrzeero, on 06/29/2008, -0/+11That is so ***** sad. Don't you learn that in 3rd grade?
- rayfiend, on 06/29/2008, -1/+12I think you forgot to cite your source, there:

"FROM IHT: "Rather than emphasize that Obama is not a Muslim, for instance, it may be more effective to stress that he embraced Christianity as a young man." Which would be a lie."
How is that a lie?
You cut and paste (I assume) a bunch of "facts" about Obama's childhood education before age 10. (I put "facts" in quotes because some of it is conjecture: "he would have ....") Even if they were all true, they would not disprove the statements above.
They do not show that Obama is a Muslim (though you throw it in there as an unsubstantiated aside in the first paragraph), and they do not show that he did not "embrace[] Christianity as a young man" In fact, they show that he went to a Muslim school before age 10 and that he DID start going to a Christian church in his mid-twenties. In other words, he "embraced Christianity as a young man" - dollar0dot02, on 06/29/2008, -0/+8Every night before going to sleep Chuck Norris reads his favorite book Barack Obama Facts.
- MrLlama, on 06/29/2008, -0/+7No its actually Barack. Obama is his surname.
- insomniacal, on 06/29/2008, -1/+8Buried for politicizing an article on cognition.
- inactive, on 06/29/2008, -5/+12my penis lies to me sometimes
- Ne007, on 06/29/2008, -3/+10You are stupid because your father is stupid.
So my Caucasian father is Muslim, and my mother takes me away and raises me and I became a Christian. You are saying that I'm still Muslim?
Your race has nothing to do with your religion.
But if your parents are stupid, then their children probably are going to be stupid also. - temugen, on 06/29/2008, -3/+9Probably the same people who think the earth is flat :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNC117UYsHs - stutimandal, on 06/29/2008, -1/+7Polls can only show the percent of ignoramus; their brain doesn't lie --- rather they have been reading the wrong books.
- inactive, on 06/29/2008, -3/+9Mental retardation?
- ellealle, on 06/29/2008, -0/+6There are tons of experiments like this...it's an important branch of cognitive psychology. Just go into Google Scholar and look up "false memories".
About halfway through my first class on human memory, our prof had us each write down as many of the 50 states as we could (it was in Canada). When he asked us which came out first, it obviously started Florida, New York, California, Wyoming. Wyoming? about 75% of the class had put Wyoming really high on the list...very strange. The prof used this to illustrate how ignorant we are of where our information comes from and how readily it can be misused....he had mentioned Wyoming in one of our classes 2 weeks prior (so briefly that no one even remembered this) and it was still in storage 2 weeks later. - inactive, on 06/29/2008, -1/+7i like the one about the colour of his skin
- kirakun, on 06/29/2008, -3/+9With claims like that, you either provide concrete reliable sources or you'll just be taken as a lunatic.
- mrzeero, on 06/29/2008, -1/+7Sources?
- chrillen, on 06/29/2008, -0/+6It has to be *****, I don't believe it.
- rohan1234, on 06/29/2008, -3/+8I hope Obama is secretly an atheist and just says he's christian.
- Ozzsanity, on 06/29/2008, -10/+15It seems like almost 30% of the American people think George Bush is a good president. Of course the brain must be screwing with those simple minded folks.
- FreeTalkLIve, on 06/29/2008, -4/+9People say I'm crazy for talking to myself.
Well, at least I KNOW who I am talking too.
It's not as crazy as talking to an invisible guy in the sky. - seinman, on 06/29/2008, -0/+5Do you remember who did this experiment, what it was called, or where it was published? I'm definitely interested in reading up on it.
- ozydingo, on 06/29/2008, -0/+5Way to kill the joke.
- iPirate, on 06/29/2008, -2/+7You want to talk about facts? Odinga isn't even his cousin.
- kazukisan, on 06/29/2008, -1/+5George W. Bush supporters make the baby Jesus cry.
- DamnLogins, on 06/30/2008, -0/+4I think it's more likely that 18% of Americans enjoy ***** with pollsters.
- buttle, on 06/29/2008, -1/+5there is no way that 18% of americans believe that the sun goes around the earth.
but if the point of the article is that people sometimes believe other's lies. then yes, that's true. but i think even 5 year olds have figured that out. - trizzo92, on 06/29/2008, -1/+5here I thought I was about to read an actual Scientific study...instead its more political hooblah.
- TheInformer, on 06/29/2008, -5/+9Just like the 11% that think the Democrat controlled Congress is doing a good job.
- denizen42, on 06/29/2008, -1/+5" Shut-up Brain, or I'll jab you with a Q-tip! "
- Diggnabbit, on 06/29/2008, -2/+6Nope. I'm afraid it doesn't work that way.
Muslim is not a race and not an ethnicity. Islam is a religion. If you follow it, you are a Muslim. If you don't, well, you're not. - rayfiend, on 06/29/2008, -2/+6From Snopes:
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/kenya.asp
"However, no evidence has been offered to document that claim, and the fact that Odinga made such a claim only in the immediate aftermath of the disputed December 2007 elections in Kenya (even though Barack Obama had been a prominent political figure long before then) suggests it was a opportunistic fiction invented by Odinga to provide himself with a badly-needed cloak of political legitimacy. (A few months earlier, another Kenyan political candidate, Nicholas Owino Rajula, had also claimed to be a distant cousin of Senator Obama.)"
PLUS a great deal more debunking - smitas, on 06/29/2008, -3/+7No problem, people usually do not listen to their brains.............:)
- inactive, on 06/29/2008, -3/+7im sure obama will be as great of a president as bush was
