- MacSuxWindozSux, on 08/26/2008, -1/+69There is no such thing as a "Hypercane".
Hurricanes and Tropical Storms have categories for a reason.
We're not stupid, stop treating us like we are. thx. - senkmajer, on 08/26/2008, -2/+46Heavy, heavy rain. Is it possible? Scientists say "Yes." "Hyper rain" could be our worst nightmare.
Really cold days. Is it possible? Scientists say "Yes." "Hyper cold" could be our worst nightmare.
Extra sour candy. Is it possible? Scientists say "Yes." "Hyper sours" could be our worst nightmare. - Ne007, on 08/26/2008, -5/+33Could a giant penis erect from the ocean? Scientists say "YES!"
- nicksorrells, on 08/25/2008, -8/+27Hot damn, I just imagined a Mega-Bush responding to a Hypercane-Katrina. Now there's a traumatizing thought.
- syntheticfth, on 08/26/2008, -0/+18"There is no such thing as a "Hypercane"
Exactly, thank you. The real threat is Ultracanes and Hyperinsurgents. They want our Uberfreedoms. - jmpeagle, on 08/26/2008, -0/+17Katrina was only class 3 when it made landfall, Hurricane Andrew from the 90s however was a class 5
- squafro, on 08/26/2008, -4/+21Hypercane: Do you inhale it or inject it?
- z4ce, on 08/26/2008, -0/+17We reran the numbers, and its actually coming the 2 days BEFORE the day after tomorrow.
- nypix, on 08/26/2008, -5/+21"George Bush doesn't care about hyper black people"
- TheInformer, on 08/26/2008, -5/+17Imagine the mega response from the hyper-Democratically controlled local and state governments in Louisiana that were exposed to be totally inept in taking care of their constituents. That's mega scary.
- thcobbs, on 08/26/2008, -3/+13And imagine that... Katrina did more damage to the Mississippi Gulf Coast than New Orleans. Oh, and where is the "woe is me" for the Mississippians? Nowhere... they were a Red state so no one cared. They just got off their asses and on to work as soon as the storm left.
- rondorondorondo, on 08/26/2008, -0/+9No, it hit the most vulnerable place (to tropical storms/hurricanes) in the US.
- kublerross, on 08/26/2008, -0/+8the levees were outrageously weak and neglected
- thcobbs, on 08/26/2008, -0/+8Except if a storm as big as he describes hits a coast, it will still be a hurricane many hundred miles inland.
When Katrina hit the gulf coast, it was still a Cat1 150 miles inland(if not more) - greatgatsbyII, on 08/26/2008, -0/+8Camille hit the MS gulf coast and destroyed it. Did little damage to New Orleans. Before K it was Betsy in 65 that busted up New Orleans.
- joegibes, on 08/26/2008, -1/+9Katrina actually wasn't that outrageously powerful... It just hit the US at a bad time.
- qster, on 08/26/2008, -2/+10Could an aeroplane land on your head? The answer is yes, we must start preparing for such an occurance!
- ayeroxor, on 08/26/2008, -1/+8YES!
- ayeroxor, on 08/26/2008, -1/+8So you only have tornadoes and perhaps earthquakes to worry about? Phew.
- miriv365, on 08/26/2008, -1/+8Meanwhile back in Houston we still have people from NOLA arguing for and getting free rent...
- phqu88, on 08/26/2008, -1/+7I'm going to be THAT guy....category 3 and category 5
- ayeroxor, on 08/26/2008, -1/+7EVERYBODY PANIC!
- TheInformer, on 08/26/2008, -1/+7Weather Channel reporter on scene during landfall: "We're screwed"
- markiemarke, on 08/26/2008, -0/+6sorry, not now. come back later please
- had3l, on 08/26/2008, -0/+6I seriously lol'd at "only the impact of a large asteroid hitting the tropical ocean"... Somehow I think that if we had a large asteroid hit the earth we would have enough problems already.
OMG, Hyper Asteroids, run from side to side in panic! - OMRebel, on 08/26/2008, -6/+12I live in MS and survived Katrina. The MS gulf coast got hit a hell of alot harder than NOLA did. But, what did you see:
MS - effective local and state leadership taking action, evacuating people out on school buses if they didn't have any other means. Swift actions post-hurricane helping people.
NOLA - democratic leadership in the local and state levels searching for TV cameras to complain about how it is all of Bush's fault. But that's what you get in a welfare society, which is exactly what NOLA is.
The Feds didn't fail in NOLA - it's just a classic case of how liberals consistently fail.
Contrast the leadership in MS vs that of NOLA, and it's an undeniable fact that the liberals, with their sense of entitlement, didn't do a damn thing for the city of New Orleans or state of Louisiana. They expect others to do things for them. That's the sad reality of what happens when people become part of the Welfare Society that the Democrats cater to. - NJank, on 08/26/2008, -0/+6Please bury crap headlines like this.
- GiJoeBob, on 08/26/2008, -0/+6LOL - The picture is a thunderstorm.
- jpmagnum, on 08/26/2008, -4/+9hey not to worry.By the time this happens we may have our messiah (obama)in office and he will make sure it NEVER happens.Sleep ez.
Everything will be coming up roses and a rainbow will appear in the sky. - inactive, on 08/26/2008, -2/+7It's clearly not being treated as a real word. They also put in quotations, afterall. I'm sure any thinking person can see what they're doing.
- Cheezeburgar, on 08/26/2008, -3/+8If an MIT scientist says it, then it must be TRUE.
- Tetec, on 08/26/2008, -0/+5Oh, not another Roland Emmerich movie.
- senkmajer, on 08/26/2008, -0/+5Even though I commented, I DID bury this stupid article.
- TheOther1, on 08/26/2008, -4/+9And Camille from the 69 was a Cat 5 and completely trashed New Orleans, yet people stayed knowing Katrina was coming and knowing what could and would happen.
- richirwin, on 08/26/2008, -0/+5Hypercane!
Sounds like a Sci-Fi Channel original movie just waiting to happen. - thcobbs, on 08/26/2008, -1/+6No, no, no... it says clearly in large friendly letters, "DON'T PANIC".
- thcobbs, on 08/26/2008, -1/+5Unless it was one of their slutty blonds.... then it would be "*GASP* YEAH!"
- ihavebeenseen, on 08/26/2008, -4/+8Would you like to know more?
- sb66, on 08/26/2008, -0/+4Speaking of hurricanes - Gustav is forecast to hit the gulf coast as a major hurricane.
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at2+shtml ... - inactive, on 08/26/2008, -1/+5OMG Mega-Katrina!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
***** you and your shock titles, *****. - txtphile, on 08/26/2008, -0/+4Starring Ian Ziering and Vanessa Angel! Directed by some guy fresh off the boat from eastern Europe! Written by a drunk 12-year old!
- Smaulz, on 08/26/2008, -4/+8You can't talk like that about the Democrats!!! This is Digg, dammit!
- Chicken, on 08/26/2008, -0/+3Clearly the sign is panicking.
- mr3looc, on 08/26/2008, -0/+3Yeah, was it really necessary to call it Mega-Katrina? I think Hypercane serves as sufficient explanation.
- lukeduke, on 08/26/2008, -1/+4Is it possible that I would punch this guy in the face if I ever met him? Yes...but only if his mom lets me into the basement.
- andywj, on 08/26/2008, -0/+3"From what I.n.t.e.l.l.i.g.e.n.c.e has gathered, a Hypercane would be 9/11 times 100."
"9/11 times 100? Jesus, that's--"
"Yes, 91,100." - slapded, on 08/26/2008, -1/+4the pic in the article isnt even a hurricane
- graphictruth, on 08/26/2008, -0/+3When Scientist says "Possible" Scientist does not mean "Likely." If said scientist had wished to say "likely" they would have said "likely." English; it can actually be used precisely.
- txtphile, on 08/26/2008, -0/+3Katrina, Cat 2 when it reached the city, didn't destroy N.O. and St. Bernard. A flood caused by the failure of levees that were supposed to hold did it. Only one of those levees was overtopped, and that one still failed because of design flaws. Three years later there is no excuse for not knowing this, especially when the Army Corps took responsibility two years ago. Flood not hurricane. Flood not hurricane. Flood not hurricane. Etc.
I don't know about sympathy factors (the Gulf Coast wasn't flooded by government incompetence and wasn't under water for a week or more) or people living in Houston now (I can guess but not going to dignify it). - commiecat, on 08/26/2008, -0/+3Not only did Andrew hit Florida as a Cat5 (I lived down there at the time) but it also hit Louisiana as a Cat3.
