- Skuzzlbut, on 04/25/2008, -7/+63I am baffled that on Digg, a site basically started for tech-savvy intelligent guys, has this many people who actually believe that evolution is a farce. You are down for believing what you believe, but do you get the fact that when you leave such over-the-top opinionated comments (with no actual proof stated - at least pretend to have a basis for your thoughts) you are going to get buried and not really discuss anything. Actually, I am just baffled that so many Diggers are ID people...I must be losing it.
- Bornhuetter, on 04/25/2008, -0/+52Whichever branch the above posters came from, I came from the other.
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -10/+62Please Kenrayd,
Debunk evolution for us. I want to see the light. Please show me how the bible, a book writen by what we would now consider backwards savages and re-written every single time they made another copy for about 1,000 years until the press was invented, in Latin, a language only a tiny percentage of the population understood is more correct than evolution. A known fact that is established, proven and demonstrated through genetic research and same natural process that gave us domesticated vegetables and allows us to keep dogs and cats as docile pets. - cranium, on 04/25/2008, -9/+53Yeah, because religion isn't a massive hoax, it totally destroys science. Pfft.
- dajuggernaut, on 04/25/2008, -11/+54FSM made noodly humans in his image... but since they could not fly he scraped that idea...
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -4/+39Unfortunately for you, genetics exist now.
I'm sorry to tell you this but your father had sex with your mother, storks don't really deliver babies. - omnithought, on 04/25/2008, -4/+37I don't know why you're being dugg down. It's the truth. All of our DNA originates from Africa. I love to use that argument against racists and let them know they have "black DNA" and there's nothing they can do about it.
- XxtraLarGe, on 04/25/2008, -0/+31Morlock & Eloi?
- SpectreFire, on 04/25/2008, -6/+33Wow.
Comments here = fail - omnithought, on 04/25/2008, -2/+28They found more of the Bible? Where?
- Shadowgamers, on 04/25/2008, -3/+28Because ID isn't interesting
- blast_flame, on 04/25/2008, -0/+23It is possible to be neither a democrat or a republican you know...
- jurbania, on 04/25/2008, -1/+23Are blacks from Europe African-American too? God, I hate that ***** term!
- NoCt1, on 04/25/2008, -2/+24You forgot Birds developing smaller beaks for smaller seeds. the most recent one that was documented in the wild.
- Lyk4n, on 04/25/2008, -1/+21The bird did not decide to have a smaller beak.. You have a gross misunderstanding of evolutionary theory.. Actually read a book some time other than the bible..
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -2/+22Demonstrate the existence of God.
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -1/+20The racist argument stands.
By that logic we are equal to chimpanzees because we share a common ancestor.
The racist just has to argue that 100,000 years is enough for evolution to create two separate races. And it did (a few of them actually).
I have never heard an argument that dismisses inherent differences between races. In fact it's the opposite, physical characteristics differ from one race to the other. And that's what the definition of race is: "A distinguishable group of organisms of a particular species, that are geographically, ecologically, physiologically, physically and/or chromosomically distinct from other members of the species."
Genetics also support the existence of distinct races:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Race_and_genetics
The real argument is about superiority and human rights. No logical argument can be made to demonstrate that one race is superior to the other. - InThePants, on 04/25/2008, -2/+21I was just wondering the same thing. Perhaps there's really only 6 of them and they send carrier pigeons to each other every time one of these threads shows up.
- Drahkar, on 04/25/2008, -4/+23While he was using it in an incorrect context, it is something to remember. A fact is merely a theory that has enough supportive evidence for us to say 'This is the way it is' but could still prove to be an incomplete representation of the situation.
I'd bet money if scientists took that point of view more often we'd probably be further along the technology tree because we wouldn't spend so much time saying anyone we don't agree with it wrong.
That statement doesn't apply to Intelligent Design Theorists or Creationists. They are morons clinging to a proven falsehood because they can't cope with the idea that the crap they've been getting shoved down their throat might be wrong. Far as I'm concerned they are as bad as the people who let their kids die of curable diseases because its better to let them heal by 'God's Will'. - Angostura, on 04/25/2008, -2/+21Shocking that people are interested in (a) science stories (b) their origins, isn't it?
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -3/+19Why would God make something that dies?
- omnithought, on 04/25/2008, -0/+16All too human. We're a pretty diverse creature, capable of astounding beauty and compassion and equally capable of the most horrific cruelty and ignorance. Must be a "design flaw", hehe.
- Sneakernets, on 04/25/2008, -1/+16Mitochondria. Hoax? or... you know what, I'm just gonna block and move on. You're funny, but your troll was unsuccessful.
- relic180, on 04/25/2008, -1/+16You are truly blind.
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -1/+16How could God make something that sins? Doesn't that make him imperfect?
And what constitutes free will if any will that contradicts God sends you to hell, a place made by the root of all evil, satan, another one of God's mistakes? - takamalak, on 04/25/2008, -1/+16Why does a bird figuring out anything have to do with evolution? You should now more than anyone. Just like you were born with a smaller dick than normal, birds can be be born with smaller beaks. Over time, if this change is beneficial and the bird can pass this trait on to it's decedents, eventually it will be a distinct species.
- Eivo, on 04/25/2008, -1/+15Learn your damn science. A theory is not a hypothesis. A scientific theory or law represents a hypothesis, or a group of related hypotheses, which has been confirmed through repeated experimental tests.
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -3/+17Ok, then do it.
Also, what God? Show him to me. - Sikarian, on 04/25/2008, -3/+16Oh. So the whole dying thing isn't because of entropy and energy loss, cellular breakdown, muscle atrophy, failing neurons...
It's because some dumb broad ate an apple 6,000 years ago? Please. - relic180, on 04/25/2008, -2/+15The problem is nobody has black or white DNA in them. DNA started out as microscopic blobs of mucas slithering around. So technically we all have mucas blob DNA. Black and White just happen to be two states that the mucas blob has mutated into at certain points in time.
- gizram84, on 05/30/2009, -1/+14at the time of your posting, it was already done - would have been a good first comment
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -1/+14Wouldn't God just make the seeds bigger? Or even better, supply a food for the bird that is proportional to it's beak size?
The Theory of Evolution is only "theory" because it is constantly being updated as we learn more about it. - rabbitt, on 04/25/2008, -1/+13Please stop feeding the trolls - there really is no conceivable way you can convince them of how ignorant they are so why bother trying?
- relic180, on 04/25/2008, -1/+13wrong. Credit isn't given to the organism, credit is given to the environment and random (or semi-random) occurances. Giving credit to the organism is a very slippery slope, as we may one day make the horrible mistake of accidentally giving YOU credit for something.
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -1/+13IQ tests are flawed and being smarter than others doesn't make you more "valuable".
That's why it's always flawed. In order for something to be superior to another, it has to be compared to an ideal or a capacity.
And there's no ideal capacity of human nature. And if someone actually comes up with one, then his race is compared to that ideal... As you can guess, it's not pretty because everything that you can find in other groups you will find in your own in some capacity, we are the same species. - omnithought, on 04/25/2008, -1/+13Race and species aren't the same. Species are considered separate when they've evolved differently enough that they no longer mate with each other. I am all too willing to get with an Asian hottie, hence, we must be of the same species! ;)
- xenuxenuts, on 04/25/2008, -1/+12where did you go to school?
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -0/+11Are whites that move to the US from South Africa, African-Americans?
- chrgrose, on 04/25/2008, -1/+12because its fun to watch the creationists squirm.
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -2/+13Entertainment. They make me laugh, like clowns.
- relic180, on 04/25/2008, -1/+12@ Kenrayd - "God is the winner" YAY! What did he win? Oh that's right, the undying devotion of another brainless drone.
No credible scientific publication has ever printed that any organisms willfully and purposefully evolve themselves. It's not stated or even implied, but if you were looking to twist their words I suppose it could be inferred. Essentially you're saying you don't want to read anymore books that say what you've incorrectly decided they say, and which you disagree with.
Organisms evolve through the accumulated behavioral patterns of hundreds of thousands of generations of species, which are further directed by genetic mutations and uncontrolled environmental factors. If you think this could somehow boil down to the conscious and intentional evolving of a species, well I won't say what that would make you but trust me when I say it's pretty bad.
We die because we die. I could get into an argument about this except I can't bring myself to justify your question with a real response. It's like asking, why did god make our tires out of rubber? Well because a guy named Bob who lived in Arkansas fingered a wild bobcat during lunch break, so god cursed humans with rubber tires. IT'S SO OBVIOUS NOW! Oh, but when they pop, we get to patch them and fill them back up with air, how merciful! Everybody get's a chance to win a prize! .... ok now I'm just mocking you. - relic180, on 04/25/2008, -2/+12I think they're African-American-Europeans.
- Lyk4n, on 04/25/2008, -1/+11There is no way in hell your schools were accredited, and if you did you must have cheated, because your understanding of simple science that I learned in 8th grade is disgustingly pathetic.
"Remember kids, when you put the Jesus glasses on nothing looks right and all the words are backwards!" - Sneakernets, on 04/25/2008, -2/+12Fossils.
- Zippo, on 04/25/2008, -0/+10there is a huge genetic difference between "race" and "subspecies", let alone "species"
While people of different races may look different, there isn't enough of a genetic difference for different humans to be considered different subspecies. - frozenelf, on 04/25/2008, -2/+11Would those same racists even believe in the Out-of-Africa model? Because apparently, belief in science is optional these days.
- mali1, on 04/25/2008, -0/+9I'm just surprised you dated a girl.
Just kidding though, she sounds hot. - darkcss, on 04/25/2008, -2/+11There is some dude on a parallel universe right now, reading the digg story title "Humans almost we're one species".
