- SpeckledJim, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10You might start by learning the difference between adjectives and adverbs.
- Onebaseman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Step 1 is the most key. It's incredibly important to have a good framework or key points/phrases already thought out before you even start to sit down put your pencil down to outline.
- Nougat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I've heard that mantra repeated often, and I've called ***** on it every time. It always goes, "Get away from TV and people and the computer and look at nature, or some other granola crap."
Yes, take time to consider things while being separate from them, this helps. But I insist that you can be a better observer of things that are in your presence than of things which are not. Do exactly the things you always do, every day. Be an observer *and* a participant. Observe yourself in the act of participating.
In other words, if you want to make an omelet, you can't do it by sitting in the forest in a loincloth thinking about eggs and kitchens. Go make a ***** omelet. - Piedramente, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5We will rebuild him...
- archistudent, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4The only hint I can give about writing faster, better, and more easily is to have plenty of information beforehand. If you are a sports writer, know your sport. If you are a novelist, know your characters and settings. If you are writing a proposal, know your company, audience, and goals.
That's it. That's the big secret to writing. Stop dreaming. Start learning everything you can about your topic. Keep notes along the way. - mozzep, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4this is one of those things that one either naturally picks up or doesn't. reading a top 10 list on how to become a better writer is not going to help too much.

Write like crap and use spellcheck? - razei, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I clicked on this story just to find a comment like this.
- Dokument, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2pay somebody else to do it?
- X111, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Given the originality of the 'article';
step 11: regurgitate the same old crap that's been posted and plastered all over the web on adsense blogs and submit to Digg. - PhilH, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Shame the submitter didn't use these tips to come up with his own description that didn't overflow.
- noclue, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Am I the only person who was expecting 'handwriting'?
- TheAwesomeQueen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I think MrOrange focussed a little too much on the faster part, since his first sentence is missing a word.
- unsolicited, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Stay away from Sarcasm and Hypocrisy in your writings.
- eohano, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Nope, I was thinking that too.

- hierophantus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Exactly. "More quickly, more effectively, and more easily."
- whatthefu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1"Find ways to expose yourself to new ideas every week. You might not get to this every day, but try to do this at least weekly. Ideas are: reading magazines you don’t normally read, watch TV shows you don’t normally watch, call a friend or colleague you haven’t spoken to in a while, go somewhere new, listen to different music, or even do a “walkabout” online where you see where the cyber winds blow you on a particular topic."
Yeah, ***** reading books. They'll never help you with anything! - yujie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Ask Homer Simpson!
- fullback, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Productivity is for typists. Write efficiently by having something to say.

- fr00tloops, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0A little dumb, considering the time spent doing all those things is probably going to be more then the average time to write from scratch.
- lead2thehead, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Yeah... I want THAT guy to teach me to write. And maybe Dick Cheney can teach me gun safety.
- ClOlD, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Or just cough up the dough/talent for a serious writing program, like Iowa or Johns Hopkins.
- kronicfuture, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0first of all, I clicked this article because I thought it meant better handwriting, thanks for ruining my giddiness. Second of all I felt that Ive heard every one of those things on that list.
