- geoken, on 07/30/2008, -11/+222I've been so busy this week I almost didn't notice that 7 days have gone by on Digg without a single new cure for cancer or aids.
- Deadpool13, on 07/31/2008, -2/+90Next on Digg:
Zombie outbreak in Houston. Area quarantined. Avoid at all costs. - bumcheekcity, on 07/30/2008, -7/+75Sorry guys, but don't get your hopes up. I'd love for the AIDS problem to be solved, but there are so many of these stories of miraculous solutions floating aroung the science and maths world. Wait until it's confirmed before you start celebration.
- FuryOfThor, on 07/30/2008, -3/+66This is amazing news; I hope they get the funding they need for human trials. I'm sure plenty of people suffering from the virus would be interested in trying out the treatment once they hear that it has destroyed the virus completely in animal tests.
- BigManOnCampus, on 07/30/2008, -2/+59So, does this mean the 60's will return? Free love and whatnot?
- inactive, on 07/30/2008, -6/+53To celebrate this discovery, I just ***** a crack addict
- colosis, on 07/31/2008, -2/+46Digg, curing HIV and Cancer since 2004.
- arielb86, on 07/30/2008, -10/+54In my own opinion I guess once you can solve HIV, you can then start solving other issues like food, water and so forth.
A cure and preventive medicine are in fact the holy grail. But for preventive strategies, EDUCATION is the way to go. - KatoHamatsu, on 07/30/2008, -3/+43God I hope this is it!
- WhiteBoyDunkin, on 07/31/2008, -5/+43i thought the cure was to inject large amounts of money directly into the blood stream?
- leahpee, on 07/31/2008, -0/+36Houston, we have a solution.
- inactive, on 07/31/2008, -0/+34Hopefully Bill Gates is reading this...
- inactive, on 07/30/2008, -6/+38Yes, thats what we need. More sweaty bonding with strangers so our bodies can cook up worse viruses like children that need the food we can't produce.
- Shiva11, on 07/31/2008, -9/+40Are they sure?
Or are they HIV positive? - dtraneighty8, on 10/07/2008, -8/+37***** you, two of my friends died in a zombie outbreak.
- thegrantman, on 07/31/2008, -0/+26But they came back,didn't they?
- suckonthat, on 07/30/2008, -8/+28i'm sure there'd be people lining up left and right for human trials, but do you really think they'd be able to get the funding needed to do so? you know how much money pharmaceutical companies are making off of the cocktails for people to maintain? i wouldn't be surprised if it gets stone walled. but let's all hope it doesn't, because this would be awesome.
- brownr21, on 07/31/2008, -0/+18No *****, fund this please.
- subliminalurge, on 07/31/2008, -2/+20Actually, I think the entire purpose of AIDS was just so that people who are walking out of the doctor's office with a herpes diagnosis can say "Well, thank God it's not AIDS!"
- jimmies, on 07/30/2008, -3/+21Amen to that. We need a cure for this so badly, it's essentially destroying Africa :(
- Sornos, on 07/30/2008, -3/+20Education is the solution for many of the world's problems. But if people don't want to learn, they won't.
- arielb86, on 07/30/2008, -0/+15its not people not wanting to learn, education is deeply related to politics. If the policies and regulation are not in place, people will not even have the choice to learn. If you give people smart choices in the right way, and you educated them to be rational and objective.....we would defeat 80% of the problems worldwide
- nathanww, on 07/31/2008, -1/+14***** you, two of my friends died in a "my friends died in a _____" outbreak
- bevans, on 07/31/2008, -0/+13craps is fun. I prefer blackjack though
- Waterrat, on 07/30/2008, -0/+13Would the same thing work with other kinds of virus?
- Gioleb, on 07/31/2008, -1/+14"They take advantage of it with something called an abzyme.
It’s naturally produced by people, like lupus patients. "
For once, it IS lupus! - DeadlyCouncil, on 07/30/2008, -0/+12Herpes anyone?
- thumperings, on 07/30/2008, -2/+14not unless you like genital warts. (85% of sexually active adults have one strain of sexual HPV or another (it also causes cancer including oral cancer (worst kind and fastest killer) ...warts can also last for 10 years or longer and keep recurring and scar you for life.. then there is herpes (one in 3 women have herpes) look it up.. FUN TIMES!
- Ramble, on 07/31/2008, -2/+13Hiding on the internet and posting anonymous comments is a very wussy thing to do.
- Oreium, on 07/31/2008, -0/+10Some people are always going to have unprotected sex with multiple people no matter how risky it is...
- teh_techie, on 07/31/2008, -0/+10You forgot to specify "au naturale"
- tas08, on 07/31/2008, -2/+11Whoa, first Alzheimer's now HIV? What's going on?! Too good to be true!
- chriszilla445, on 07/31/2008, -4/+13Dr. Paul 08!....wait...nvm
- Bertram23, on 07/31/2008, -0/+9Oh bugger off.
- Matt2k, on 07/31/2008, -1/+10Terrorist fist jab for you !!!
- LucasVB, on 07/30/2008, -8/+17.... and this concludes our weekly AIDS and cancer cures. Thank you, and until next week!
- AmusedToDeath, on 07/31/2008, -2/+11Africa is destroying Africa.
- Babazoz, on 07/31/2008, -1/+9I'm sure the Obama stories on every page have helped keep the status quo.
- tech42er, on 07/31/2008, -0/+8You think the FDA would allow that? It has to go through lots of trials to make sure it's safe enough for humans.
- raynar, on 07/31/2008, -3/+11"We have found a cure. However, then we realized healthy people don't need cures, and we dont get paid. Therefore, it will go on the shelf next to our cure for cancer, and the common cold."
- bubbameister33, on 07/31/2008, -2/+10For the low low price of 2 million dollars.
- SilverBlade2k, on 07/31/2008, -12/+20Houston Doctors may have found a way to destroy HIV, but Big Pharma will find a way to destroy the cure..
- TrevorBelmont, on 07/31/2008, -1/+9You can clearly read and write and this is a good start. Now, try pointing that energy at reading some books. The more you do, the more you will learn. The more you learn the more you will realize that your hatred is based on false premises, misunderstanding and your own fear of what you don't understand.
Now, work hard hitting those books. The rest of us will be waiting for you to join us in the modern era when you're done! Good luck! - 47f0, on 07/31/2008, -5/+13Right. Like the education the Catholic church provides in sub-saharan Africa, telling people that condoms are a sin? Or maybe the abstinence education that tells horny teenagers to "just say no". Or maybe the fundamentalist education that still has morons thinking this is just a gay disease. Maybe we have too much education - and too little common sense.
- Matt2k, on 07/31/2008, -0/+7I secretly wish I had these problems to tangle with
- halogenik, on 07/31/2008, -0/+7Yes, while it's true that you can't eradicate AIDS, having a cure would equivocate HIV to a bad flu, which would be a miracle.
- Telmarine, on 07/31/2008, -8/+15Enough of the "***** you, my friends died ___" meme please, it got old fast
- rald84, on 07/31/2008, -0/+7bareback here i come!
- mnemy, on 07/31/2008, -0/+7Well, even if you're careful, you could still end up getting really unlucky. A cure is best.
And how does research into curing HIV at all impact other fields that are trying to improve food/water problems? - bastardo, on 07/31/2008, -0/+7If you enjoy Syphillis, Herpes, HPV, Genital Warts, crabs and about 300 strains of genital bacteria, well, sure, Free Love! Let the lovin' begin!
