- hardigree, on 11/19/2008, -3/+19That is the hotness. I can feel both smug and sexy at the same time.
- Rixar13, on 11/20/2008, -0/+10Japan auto makers are innovating as the Big-Three US are looking for hand-outs.
- ozymandias2012, on 11/19/2008, -6/+16Can't they just make a car that looks like a car anymore? Thing looks like an electric razor with wheels.
- mcritz, on 11/20/2008, -4/+14Gasoline is for people that pal around with terrorists. Electric cars are for patriots.
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -3/+13Somebody painted the batmobile white?
- samimnot, on 11/20/2008, -1/+10US Auto Manufactures:
$75 an hour / man power
$2000 in legacy costs per vehicle
Reputation for building mediocre quality vehicles
BILLIONS in Bail Out, after Bail Out
Asian Auto Manufactures:
$40 an hour / man power
$0 legacy costs
Reputation for building great quality vehicles
2 TRILLION in SURPLUS
The Big 3 don't even have a Business Plan to correct any of this...
While Honda and other Asian Companies develop vehicles for the future (like this car). - PeteSchiller, on 11/19/2008, -1/+9I would have liked to have seen it with the doors open and gotten a look inside, too. I also wonder what the trunk looks like given that unique design.
- RealmDown, on 11/20/2008, -0/+7Not in today's political climate. They painted it Caucasian-American.
- naner, on 11/20/2008, -0/+6Would that be "smexy?"
- BelatedHero, on 11/20/2008, -1/+7In Honda we trust.
- Vistigil, on 11/20/2008, -4/+9wow i liked the car until i saw the back of it, who thought that would look good?
- vilago, on 11/20/2008, -0/+5it's called aerodynamics. modern vehicles have ***** wind resistance. only recently has it improved from the moving bricks of the past
- mcritz, on 11/20/2008, -2/+5That’s like saying “I wish there was extra spit in my hamburger.” What makes this car great is that it ISN’T internal combustion.
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -1/+4I ***** love Honda.
Did you know they've never had a single major layoff? - DekarCorvus, on 11/20/2008, -0/+3I hope this gem gets put into production! its fantastic!
- RealmDown, on 11/20/2008, -1/+4I'm sorry, sir, but this is the no trolling section. Please have a seat over there next to the furnace with open door.
- sc0ttius, on 11/20/2008, -0/+3I want one...
- jemka, on 11/20/2008, -0/+3I hate click & scroll. I wish there was some super alien web technology that would allow websites to display new information without reloading the page.
/waits for bright future. - strib666, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2The captions on those photos say that there was no interior in the car:
"There's no actual interior, just a dummy steering wheel and the silhouette of a seat."
Heck, it says there were no actual doors:
"There are no actual doors, but if there were, Honda says they would swing up from the back scissor-style."
Cool photos, though. One of the best looking concepts in a while. - pooljoe, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2The back of it reminds me of those cars we made in shop class in grade school and its where you put the model rocket engine or Co2 cartridge
- vilago, on 11/20/2008, -1/+3considering a fuel cell car is already expensive enough with only a 100kw power output, i would say IMO we don't need a sport version. lets just try and reduce the cost and increase the reliability to make it viable for consumers rather than try to make it too much, too early. just my $0.02
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2i'm so glad you did not say 'for mavericks'
- atmmac, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2I can tow a boat with my corvette if i wanted to...trust me its got enough torque and they make a hitch. I know all about the Tesla roadster.....There is no way i would ever be able to afford it and lets face it internal combustion motors just sound cooler.
- RealmDown, on 11/20/2008, -1/+3Agreed, but buried for ruining my breakfast.
- AlaskaLoneWolf, on 11/19/2008, -5/+7I think that thing is sexy as hell. And after the U.S. auto industry finally does it's market correction, we'll be left with only the truly inspiring, economically sound, environmentally responsible, forward looking designs.
- su9799su, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2great
- MisterEX, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2I was thinking the same thing.
- snotrokit, on 11/20/2008, -1/+3Honda - Doing what Detroit SHOULD be doing for 30 years.
- atmmac, on 11/20/2008, -1/+3Ugly POS. Gimme the new camaro im supporting the economy with something thats got some power and good looks.
- ASSASSYN360, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2Paint it black and I can become the wraith!
- vilago, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2yes, one of the problems. there's also cold startup issues, a lot of precious metal use, durability of the fuel cell past 100,000 "miles", not to mention that 99% of hydrogen comes from reforming natural gas, which still comes from the middle east and is a petroleum product......
- nmezib, on 11/20/2008, -1/+3haha, very funny, Honda. Now give the car back to Samus Aran. She needs it.
- samimnot, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2That is a great line ;-)
- cschoeps, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2Isn't hydrogen also god-awfully expensive to transport and store? I seem to remember that being one of the biggest obstacles between here and mass public use.
- brandanasan, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2i'm amazed that someone else was thinking the exact same thing.
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1the bottom line is cars need to be more aerodynamic, there's no reason for them not to be – and almost all upcoming concepts will be more aerodynamic than ever.
Also, why not optimize the design for different internals? It's an entire different engine system, so it'd probably be harder to retrofit it into something preexisting. - Dalhectar, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1I don't think car has a trailer hitch either.
- arjie, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1Are non-American carmakers subject to more lax regulations? Honest question.
- etx313, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1Well duh.
- mike42979, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1The back end looks like *****, thought it was a hot car until they showed the back view.
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1A Civic *****? Civic's in the late 80's are better than most cars being pushed through the lines today.
- samimnot, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1bahijahazza
“based on those comparisons”
-They are accurate…I Googled a few different sources, and averaged them
“continue manufacturing cars with a better business model”
-Personally, this is what I would like to see happen. But I see no reason to keep it in its present form. Completely restructured, with emphasis on Future Technologies
“bailout choice seems to be on the table too”
-Many people in the US are just tired of bad business decisions being rewarded and are pressuring our government not to comply
“keeping the status quo”
-This is all the Big 3 is offering…they have “NO” plan to correct any of their problems
“american auto industry been bailed out before”
-Yes…several times
Hope this answers your questions :-) - Taiyoryu, on 11/20/2008, -1/+2Did Honda hire Cylons to design their car? And what's with the growth on its butt?
- kinerry, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1watch sin city a bit much?
- bahijahazza, on 11/20/2008, -1/+2Doesn't Honda and Toyota build cars in America now?
- kinerry, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1ford risked going broke to invent the v8...the auto industry hasn't made any real changes since then
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -1/+2Apparently, the designers were going for this look. http://factman.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/baboon_ ...
- Tourniquet, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1Depends on your definition of 'better'.
- prodigitalson, on 11/20/2008, -1/+2The only down side to the Camaro is you cant really pull your trailer with it if you need to relocate.
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1Well you can compare HP, but really today's cars only have more HP to haul around all the extra weight they have.
