- amandaw33, on 10/12/2007, -3/+129Nah I'm pretty sure I hate Mondays because I have to go back to work...
- Schug, on 10/12/2007, -3/+67"Uh-oh. Sounds like somebody's got a case of the Mondays. . ."
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+44I believe you'd get your ass kicked sayin' something like that, man.
- blahblah, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23Write to your senator and demand a 30 hour work week.
- CanceledCzech, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22Wow, me too. Only my great cure is called alcohol.
- roosterjm2k2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17thats how i am. I fly RC planes and helis...im generally out at the field at 7ish during the summer...i look forward to it all week long...
I tell you what, the more hobbies you find yourself into, the more you hate work, and the more everyday becomes "mondays" - aranyx, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19I actually found a great cure for my Monday woes. It's called Heroes.
- lickmygiggle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15If Monday was a person I'd stab them in the face....
but I think I hate Sundays more than Monday...I can't help but spend the whole day dreading Monday. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14I think he beat everyone to it.
- resplence, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Nice grocer's apostrophe you got there.
- gardnert1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I've found that about half the time, the longer I sleep the more tired I am when I wake up. The other half I'm about just as tired. But it could be that I'm just used to going on around 5 hours sleep cause I got to a military college.
- dschrute, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I'm with you. Sunday depression is the worst. Friday is pretty much the only good day of the week.
- inboxnews, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Monday's suck. Period.
- nikkesen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Mondays suck because it means you have to acknowledge reality and we all know reality sucks.
Reality is that pile of paperwork you abandoned on Friday. - MrBobDobolina, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Weekends are MY time, why would I want to spend MY time sleeping? If I need to sleep I would rather do it on someone elses time...
- zitch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4My favorite hobby is sleeping in on the weekends. If I can turn that into a career....
- orbstra, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5to sum it up in one sentence:
a wannabe scientist says that if you stay in saturday nights and have no life, then get up bright and early sunday mornings, you will be a looser and show up to work with a big smile monday mornings... good reasoning tool - wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4My overall reaction "no kidding". The sleep experts have know this for a long time. Staying up later and waking up later on weekends means you aren't ready for sleep at the correct time on Sunday, and thus Monday sucks even harder than it already does.
So, does this mean I'm going to go to bed at at 21:30 on Friday and Saturday and get up at 05:15? Hell no, I like sleeping in too much. - robogobo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i have to say that i have a sadistic liking for the grumpy "f*ck you" feeling that Monday brings. and the more i party and "sleep in" (i call it a hangover, whose only cure is a few bloody marys followed by accidental all-day sunday drunkenness), the better the Monday. F*ck you.
- Buttercup, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8i blame the gods for mondays...
particularly, Mani - jls8705, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3So basically, those of us that are over-worked and stressed and use the weekend as catch-up time are absolutely screwed because doing so just starts the unhealthy cycle all over again.
Good to know! - b3and1p, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I love my job and honestly I don't mind Mondays at all. Does no one love what they do anymore? Just turn a hobby into a career and you will grow to look forward to Mondays!
- BlackLineFish, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3What a coincidence that this story came out on a Monday!
Seriously, though... teach your kids to pursue interests that lead to careers where they can enjoy Mondays. If you are doing what you love, it isn't bad at all. I think the mid-life crisis is due to the fact that so many people chose careers with their checkbook in mind, and not their heart.
If you have kids in school right now, just keep in mind that they will probably have careers that span into their 8th decade! They will have careers that easily last 50 years.
--gh - arkmtech, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3That's one theory - here's mine:
Cut your work week down to 4 days. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday - Then take a 3-day weekend.
If you don't think it's possible, look at it this way: There will ALWAYS be work to get done. Always. So long as there's a demand for your business, and things to be done to manage that business, work will inevitably pour onto your plate.
In the last 2 years, cutting my own work week to just 4 days has alleviated a great deal of stress, and allowed me to return to work on Tuesday and really focus on getting things done while being able to maintain a social life beyond instant-messenger and prepare to start a family as well.
Just my $0.02 in the bucket. - socoolisme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey I made that refrence first U stole that from me stupid.
- ConsultantJR, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Amen to that! Heroes and Prison Break give new life to Mondays....
Plus, what's the problem with staying up late and sleeping in on the weekends??? That's why God invented coffee for Monday mornings! - Yage2006, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"stop sleeping in on weekends"
Yes like that you will be depressed all week long instead of just Monday so you wont notice the difference.
Cause if you cant sleep in that would mean no going out having fun ect ect :( - armbar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Seeing as how I have to wear a tie to work, I doubt my boss is going to be all for a 4-day work week.
- mancat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3***** you too 'ya piece of *****!
Have a good one!!! - gridbread, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I thought it said "Monkeys"
- socoolisme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why is everyone digging me down? Doesn't anyone get my office space reference?
***** you ***** for being so stupid. - rishabhnasa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I like Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, Thursdays are boring, but I can barely endure Fridays. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are when all the fun stuff happens for me. Thursday is the new Monday for me.
- bouche, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I already knew this as I do it every weekend. I should have just recorded it and applied for a grant ;)
Sleeping in is very wonderful, but not sleeping in is wonderful too, as you can wake up with a Bailey's and Coffee and start having some weekend fun at 9 am. It's ok to get a little drunk in the morning when you don't have to go to work. - Cl1mh4224rd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1No real hate for Mondays here. Mondays are typically the "quickest" day of the week for me. By the time Thursday rolls around, however, I've fallen significantly behind on sleep and the day... just... drags... which makes Fridays a pain to soldier through.
- Rsulliv1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Must disagree.
Monday's aren't so bad. They're usually busy, so they tend to pass quicker. The Sunday dread is pretty bad..
The worst day must be Wednesday. On Wednesday, you can look back and really feel how long your week has already been.. And you know you have that same amount of time before the weekend. - freeplay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1So let me get this straight. Some of you are stating it is a good or bad day based on what is on the TV that day? That's pretty sad....
- Ceara, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Actually, Professor Leon Lack is one of the world's leading sleep researchers and highly respected in the field of circadian rhythm problems, especially in resetting them.
He's published extensively and is referenced extensively. Of course, anyone who had much experience within the sleep field is likely to know that already.
Don't blame him for the way the media dumbs down his findings. That's just what the media does.
Read the literature for yourself instead of commenting on a news report. You're likely to find that the research was well-justified, not one of those 'well duh!' things. - schalicto, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Goodbye blue monday.
- Sassanix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1whoa, ive been doing this for the past 2 years... I barely sleep on weekends and I feel awesome on mondays.
- cprincipe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Sleep in on Saturday, get up around your normal time on Sunday.
Mondays still suck though. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1hmm, right now, there are 420 diggs... which is coincidentally why I don't hate mondays..
- jonny5, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Stop sleeping in on a weekend... NEVER
- irrationalman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2simple logic not science
- R3doubt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Monday is the worst excuse to spend 1/7 of your week
- bergur1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@wilf brim
agreed I was like WELL DUH. But then again thats what I should have expected. I always think the next article like this is going to be a real eye opener and will really make me learn something but when it comes to sleep articles ALL OF THEM are the same. - NoahK, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Monday's are my favorite days come January -- that's when 24 is back on the air!!
- Ceara, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Maybe that's because they come from the news media, which assumes everyone is an idiot. You should try getting your hands on the actual research the articles talk about - usually the actual research is quite different from the way the media interprets it.
- 4815162342, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2common sense?
- Kilraq, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0All I can say to that is this... *Fluffs pillow and hits the alarm buzzer*
5...more...minutes... >.<
Makes sense though. Shame I will still sleep in on the weekends though. I love my extra slumber times more than anything. hehe -
