- inactive, on 10/25/2008, -9/+30Who needs pictures when I've got 18 versions of "Call Of Duty"
- OfNumbers, on 10/25/2008, -4/+21Haunting is everything else that happened in WWII. These guys are relaxing, freed from jail, having cigarettes, training, etc.
Haunting is dead Jews everywhere, dead Americans everywhere, dead Europeans everywhere, dead Asians everywhere... Oh, well you get the point. - inactive, on 10/23/2008, -6/+21beautiful but so sad...nice find Chris
- joot2112, on 10/25/2008, -0/+15Thanks. I was having a bad day but just realized I'm not having a bad day at all.
- HCviolence, on 10/25/2008, -0/+14War is cruelty. It is the rape of the many for the power struggle of the few .
- inactive, on 10/25/2008, -0/+11Look up the Rape of Nanking and tell me that's not savage.
- digitul, on 10/25/2008, -2/+13oh shut up
- antonio97b, on 10/25/2008, -2/+9Did photos of the halocaust slip your mind?
I never lost the "drama" of WWII.... - SleezyG, on 10/25/2008, -1/+8This makes me miss my dead grandfather, and his war stories.
- inactive, on 10/25/2008, -0/+6No matter the country or cause, war is hell.
- enantiodromia, on 10/25/2008, -0/+6yeah, the mafia never existed in any form until after WW2, lol.
and how pussy is it to enter a life where you can be murdered at any moment as a cost of doing business?
you wouldn't last 48 hours - MasterGrief, on 10/25/2008, -0/+5Interesting.
Not haunting. - inactive, on 10/25/2008, -1/+6***** that PC *****. It would be a slap in the face to the memory of the victims to refer to the genocide committed by the Japanese and germans as anything else.
- bromac, on 10/25/2008, -2/+7Generals have a saying...
Care for the living. They're the ones you can still help. - scgirl212, on 10/25/2008, -0/+5These are great pictures..after my grandpa passed away my grandma gave us a book of mementos that he had picked up during the war (He drove a tank in Germany) the best thing in there was a red armband with a swasktika that he took from a dead german solider. It still had a little dark blood spot..for me it was such powerful symbol and reminded me of how brave my grandpa was.
- perogi21, on 10/25/2008, -0/+5And the general sat and the lines on the map
moved from side to side. - omg404, on 10/25/2008, -0/+5Obviously horrible things happened in this war, propaganda and brainwashing were indeed powerful tools in WWII but I agree with Jimbob200. It should be changed to "Axis forces", instead of judging the people now by generalizing their race as "savage".
- inactive, on 10/25/2008, -2/+770 million
- MicrosoftBob, on 10/25/2008, -0/+5Settle down, BillyBob. Don't forget the British and Russian troops (among others).
WW2 was not a John Wayne film. In fact, he successfully avoided serving in order to further his career. - walruspanzer, on 10/25/2008, -0/+5LOL
- Vazel, on 10/25/2008, -0/+4damn that was too short.
- fissionignition, on 10/25/2008, -0/+4Did we forget one of the pretexts (along with flexing muscle in front of the Commies) for nuking the Japanese was the lives we'd save forgoing invasion? Casualty estimates made the Normandy landings look like a nice stroll along the beach...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Downfall - RudeTurnip, on 10/25/2008, -2/+6*****, if our generation wasn't tainted by the stupidity of going into Korea, Vietnam and Iraq, you'd have no problem defending this country in a literal (not political) sense.
- datagod, on 10/25/2008, -9/+13People who torture prisoners are the scum of the earth. You know who I am talking about.
- geekbrit, on 10/25/2008, -0/+4Fair's fair - Hollywood would have you believe that only American soldiers fought against the Axis nations - example, the Enigma machine was recovered by an English vessel, not an American one. On the other hand, I am grateful I wasn't raised speaking German - thank you, America!
- JakeSN, on 10/25/2008, -1/+5We had a holocaust survivor in our class to tell his story the other day. Now WWII has been an interest of mine for many years but untill you hear about what happens from someone who actually lived in such tragic times you dont get a connection. It was an overwhelming experience to hear someone talk about his life during the holocaust. I hope everyone get the same experience before that great generation passes on.
- jessehadden, on 10/25/2008, -1/+4Remember these horrors each and every time someone suggests war as the answer to a social or political problem.
- leha, on 10/25/2008, -1/+4This is the best picture of WW2 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Paradejack.jpg
You can despise whoever you want, you can call anybody any name you like or say that one side was not better then the other. But 11 million soldiers and 15-18 million civilians of "evil" USSR paid with their lives for the above picture. They did not fight for money, they did not fight for Stalin, they fought for their country. Because of this and because of the huge price they were willing pay I think they were the greatest generation ever lived. - pradvan, on 10/25/2008, -1/+4***** you, two.. nope, no one died.
- SnowStorms, on 10/25/2008, -1/+4Life is good, I'm having fun.. and then someone mentions WWII and i go into a depressing state thinking about what those poor people went through during this war.

- inactive, on 10/25/2008, -1/+4You mean when we had wars.
That was the last war we had.
Korea, Vietnam, Iraq; all conflicts and no declared war. - BeardDob, on 10/25/2008, -1/+4Moron
- Encablossa, on 10/25/2008, -0/+2That's what she said.
- Heapbasket, on 10/25/2008, -0/+2I'm sure allied forces did some wrong things to. War isn't pretty and romantic like it was made out to be back then.
- jawagas, on 10/25/2008, -1/+3The author did get a little sloppy with that wording.
- hakluytbean, on 10/25/2008, -0/+2I find this more haunting...

http://www.projectfacade.com/index.php?/case/ - proliance, on 10/25/2008, -0/+2Biden said Obama's election will cause an international crisis and that no one will understand Obama's response at first. He also said "There are enemies of the United States who are awaiting results of this election."
The whole world knows that Obama is a rookie with no foreign policy experience. What will he do when Iran attacks Israel, when China invades Taiwan or Russia decides to take over another one of its former satellite countries? What if North Korea's famine is used as an excuse to invade South Korea? He'll be tested alright, and his response of handing out hugs and apologies won't make a difference, because foreign leaders already know they can walk all over Obama. That's why they want him elected. - drgmdp, on 10/25/2008, -0/+2check your sarcasmmeter, it's broken
- Jimbob200, on 10/25/2008, -1/+3The quoted element makes a reference to the Japanese as a race or country. They should instead change it to the Japanese army or find another way. Here is a list of links related to American war crimes during ww2. Specifically, the second article lists actions by each country.

EDIT: This makes for interesting reading too.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allied_war_crimes_dur ... - opusaz, on 10/25/2008, -2/+4We've forgotten. We think it can't happen again. We're wrong.
- leha, on 10/25/2008, -0/+2PS: if anybody is interested in WW2 history check this site http://www.iremember.ru/index.php?lang=en These are the accounts of soldiers: no propaganda, no bs, just how it was and how they lived through it.
- TheImaginator, on 10/25/2008, -0/+2What Bluezinc meant was - back when wars were wars.
- Spoomeister, on 10/25/2008, -0/+2Good every once in a while to have some reminders of WWII era history that don't come from Call of Duty, or from the War Porn Channel... I mean Luftwaffe Network... I mean History Channel.
- inactive, on 10/25/2008, -0/+1Why is it the Beemer fans want to stifle the truth? Not to worry....a Beemer presidency, folk like zebraz and myself WILL be shut up. Then all the libs will be happy! Freedom for everybody (who thinks correctly).
- inactive, on 10/25/2008, -0/+1Remember these horrors each and every time someone suggests that appeasement is the answer to a social or political problem.
- inactive, on 10/25/2008, -2/+3If only your mother had any sense, she would have done the liberal thing and aborted you. Or did she?
- datagod, on 10/26/2008, -0/+1Waterboarding IS torture. If you don't believe me, try it out some time. I guarantee you will think you are going to die.
- davet2, on 10/25/2008, -1/+2Unsung heroes - so many of them and we will never know their names.
- redtruck, on 10/25/2008, -4/+5Photo #5: Must have been before the "blindfold" technology was invented.
