- sabster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10lol thats a disapointment i thought it was actually going to grab someone. but cool that they found one none the less..
- deleteYourslf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dugg, I've always wanted to see what those things look like... Now I wonder what it would look like if they launched that squid with a catapult.
- Dufresne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1'grabs'....
Its impossible to think of it any other way - Ianmacisaac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What a let down... You should have said:
Giant squid grabs the attention of London audience - zone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1a true disappointment indeed mate :(
- capn_caveman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1^Lol. I didn't think about it that way :)
- autumntial, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dugg, giant squids will rule the world
- yahoofrom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1looks delicious.
- justice7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1++digg
very cool..
as for the colossal.. there is some good info and images on wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colossal_squid - chatwithaninja, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The bigger they are, the tougher the meat.
- TheCount, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool, when are they going to fry it up, and where's the giant tub of marinara sauce?
- Wamzlee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ugly little bugger
- dave_colorado, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0best. title. ever.
- jiub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I too was hoping for a squid attack....
Great article though. - lazerdave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Don't kid yourself, Autumntial.... They already DO rule the world.
I guard my lobes against their influence at all times. - thecoolestcow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hahaha yeah i also thought it physically grabbed someone. awesome nonetheless. dugg.
- cheese06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i want to see the COLLOSAL SQUID MOMMMY
- Meshyf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The Title is fine.
That squid is bigger then both my xboxes combined. Way tight. - astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
Alot of Calamari....
"GET IN MY BELLY!" - Fat Bastard (Austin Powers) - gnalakalaciath5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0aww, i thought it was actually going to "grab" someone out of the audience and eat them...
cool story - Kitsune818, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0To the people wanting to eat it: Wait until you *smell* it.. those chemicals are less than apetizing.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0poor baby squid....
- lordTalus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I had a dream the other night that I was on Captain Ahab's boat. Instead of hunting whale, we were hunting giant squid...I have no idea why I had this dream.
- flipper5311, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0may i buy that for my dinner please???
- capn_caveman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The title was taken directly from the story. It was not intentionally meant to be sensational. At least on my end.
- aeonflux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Definitely going to have to say the title was a letdown, but creepy as all hell imho.
- optikshell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah, i can't wait until one of these grabs a person... or boat full of people
- azngrl0330, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hahaha, that's like the giant jellyfish off the coast of Japan!
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,25689-1910322,00.html - carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they control the world, look at it, they have control over the 3/4 of the planet covered in water, we're stuck on the smaller surface, and the actual livable volume is much larger in the oceans. maybe we're their pets?
- touchdowns, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the title being a bit misleading was a bit of a let down. I like dthe mysterious giant squid = ? meters. Woah.
- webcrumb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Don't ask me why (probably down to seeing the "Top 10 video game weapons" story) I read the title to this story as "Giant head crabs London audience."
- Hush, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Made me think about this video, and dig it up.
Even though this one is an octopus, I bet that squid could do some damage.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7004909622962894202 - cbamarket, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ahh, too small. I want a 10 foot wide head!
- Daecilius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it would have been pretty sweet if it actually grabbed an audience
- Emperial, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What a waste. A bit of olive oil some garlic....
- jumjum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pretty cool. They say that if you put a lizard in a hyperbaric chamber for a few hundred years, you'd have a dinosaur. They tested that method on other animals for a few weeks (scorpions & rattlesnakes), and they got abnormally bigger to mutant-like proportions.
- oxymoron69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0to quote jumjum "if you put a lizard in a hyperbaric chamber for a few hundred years, you'd have a dinosaur."
actually, you'd have some really ***** lizard jerky. - elmerfudd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think descendants of the squid will one day be the dominant sentient species of the planet, but first they need to get to the top of the food chain...
- Kashey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks delicious!
- radixus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's SO amazing! It's very sad that the US is spending so much money on space exploration (which is needed, don't get me wrong), but there is so much we haven't explored on our own planet that needs just as much funding as the space program.
There still are spieces of fish that haven't been seen yet at the bottem of the ocean. I would love to see the government get more invovled in the exploration of our land and waters more then the far reaches of space. I'm sure funding a project to build a sub to reach to bottem of all oceans is cheaper then any spacecraft to land on Mars! - sixister, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What does this have to do with technology?
- seventoes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No digg for the huge disapointment of the squid not grabbing anyone.
- soundboy64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Calamari.... MMMMmmmmm.... but yeah, that colossal squid looks freakin insane! ?m that's like infinite! haha
- CLIFFosakaJAPAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0More pics from an earlier Digg submission I made:
http://digg.com/science/_Archie_the_28_Ft._Giant_Squid_displayed_(Some_Cool_Photos) - GuyNextDoor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ahoy there maties! Cast over ye nets and pull in me giant wanker sized friend from ye depths of me ocean!
+Super Digg! I love creepy ocean creatures of the deep...man, I can only imagine what's really down there. - logic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0space exploration is more important to me because we need to get the ***** off this rock before we destroy it. as far as we know, space has no danger of being eaten by big squid monsters, and is therefore a safer haven.
- optikshell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0what blows my mind is that there have to still be things larger and more strange in the ocean...
