- 11arrows, on 10/11/2007, -38/+387Everyone know gay animals can not adopt babies. Please let's immediately remove the chick from their custody and put it in foster care. I know a lovely family of wolves who would be happy to take the chick in. They've recently had an opening, and even though we don't exactly know where the last chick we placed in their custody is, at least they're not gay!
- Mikekuul, on 10/11/2007, -21/+192Wow, I thought the title was "Gay flaming ***** adopt a baby", the hell is wrong with me.
- Junkyarddawg, on 10/11/2007, -6/+150Hey, just because they're two well-groomed guys named Fernando and Carlos who live together, like to dance, eat seafood, and dress in pink feathers, doesn't necessarily mean these flamingos are gay!
- bajesus, on 10/11/2007, -8/+139You do know that 9-11 happened because of gay flamingos don't you?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -20/+137@Rhino2
are you kidding me? flamingos are basically the mascot for gay people. its the most homoerotic creature alive. just picturing one makes me want to toss some salad. - catalysis, on 10/11/2007, -5/+104I thought flamingo was some kind of new slang term.
- pitchpitch, on 10/11/2007, -5/+98See? Jerry Falwell's gone for a couple days and stuff like this starts happening. Are you people happy now?!?
- nymphetamine, on 10/11/2007, -7/+82Fernando and Carlos? It doesn't get any gayer than that!
- BETRAMS, on 10/11/2007, -12/+86Jesus Christ did grow up, he had a beard too.
- Junkyarddawg, on 10/11/2007, -17/+87Who here DOESN'T think Falwell was a closet gay who secretly dreamed of buggering underage boys?
- thcobbs, on 10/11/2007, -5/+72Yeah, but have you seen the way he holds his ankle limp when he's talking???
- mtjohnson, on 10/11/2007, -6/+61@neosinn
You are correct. Satan is forcing animals to be gay to fool us into accepting homosexuality.
In other news, Satan planted Dinosaur fossils to make us doubt creation. That diabolical genius! - Turambar, on 10/11/2007, -7/+59yes. very.
- herrshuster, on 10/11/2007, -15/+65since when did fred phelps teach the bible?
- chrisbtig, on 10/11/2007, -6/+50If anyone is interested, a book called Biological Exuberance is the definitive book that chronicles same-sex behavior in the animal kingdom. It's a phenomenal read. The book provides documented evidence of 450 species that have engaged in same-sex behavior including pairing and parenting.
- aduzik, on 10/11/2007, -2/+45@neosinn: We don't really care if you accept "it" or not. We just want you to stop ramming your archaic beliefs down our throats. Basically, what we want is for people like you to leave people like us the hell alone.
Don't like gays? Then don't date a dude. Simple as that. - Dimensio, on 10/11/2007, -7/+46"What ever happened to men being men and women being women?"
Your question implies a fundamental ignorance of gender biology.
" Hmm if you take a close look, you'll see that MEN and WOMEN work together. Made for each other."
False premise. You are inferring design without evidence.
"Just because Man can lay with Man, doesn't make it right."
Irrelevant statement. "Right" is undefined in this context.
"There is no useful purpose with gay sex other than self gratification."
False statement. There is also gratification for the sexual partner.
"Not everything that feels "good" is good,"
Non-sequitur.
"just because you want to do it doesn't mean the rest of us has to "accept" it."
Non-sequitur.
"Quit trying to ram stuff down our throats just because you like it that way!"
Non-sequitur.
"There is such a thing as right and wrong if you don't want to admit it thats your problem."
Non-sequitur.
Do you have an actual point to make? - EthylAdded, on 10/11/2007, -3/+40It may be a great read because it's well written, I don't know. But any book that provides a new understanding of life on earth deserves to be called great.
- snarfyboy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+40Satan has control of people? Wow, so much for free will and an omnipotent and benevolent god.
- alexkorova, on 10/11/2007, -4/+40"Gay flamingos are not uncommon, she added."
Suprise suprise ;) - echo2501, on 10/11/2007, -10/+45"toss some salad"
... with a nice raspberry vinaigrette? - Breepee, on 10/11/2007, -6/+39Cause vast hordes of ignorant people condemn homophilia on the basis that it's unnatural and only sick, possesed humans are capable of it.
Those need to read that book. - MDrake, on 10/11/2007, -20/+48What the ***** is it about everyone where they have this assumption that gay's are emotionless devil worshippers with no morals? Jesus christ grow up. Animal and man, gay or straight, are both completely capable of caring for another of their kind.
- futureb, on 10/11/2007, -24/+46*insert amusing joke regarding milk in throat*
too easy - arkmtech, on 10/11/2007, -5/+25Unfortunately, so long as the U.S. government continues to view gay people as second-class citizens, you're going to see gay couples everywhere jumping at the media to show off families they've successfully raised, or other such accomplishments our straight counterparts can't help but think "Wup-dee-sh*t" over.
Maybe it's about showing "the man" (as well as the dwindling number of uber-conservatives) that we (yes, I'm one of 'em...) can do what they said we couldn't.
And in regards to the class-5 natural disaster known as "Gay Pride Week"...
In practice, "gay pride" is really pretty absurd, and makes about as much sense as people being proud to play the piano or have hemorrhoids. (Could you imagine a "hemorrhoid pride" parade? Oi...) There still are a few limp-wristed-flag-waving-rainbow-death uber-advocates who still like to picket and scream, I suppose - just ignore them. (We do.)
In truth, "gay pride" is more about us wanting to get out and throw one giant nation-wide party once a year - so if you wanna throw a "straight pride" parade with beer, boobs, pizza, football, and whatever else have you, be my guest... a party is a party! ^_^ - geekchic, on 10/11/2007, -11/+30Thanks for that posting - I now have an image in my head that I *really* wish wasn't there.
- Dimensio, on 10/11/2007, -5/+22"Dugg down as inaccurate."
How is this story inaccurate, or are you engaging in a tactic frequently used by creationists in denying the reality of any observations that contradict what you wish to believe? - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -15/+32"Fred Phelps flying over to read The Bible out loud and get them to repent"
Dugg just for that line. I spit milk out my nose laughing. Nice!!! - snarfyboy, on 10/11/2007, -4/+21False analogy. It's the conservatives who claim that it's not natural and it's all a choice. Here we see evidence that it occurs in nature. Therefore, it is natural. Simple as that.
- agarc, on 10/11/2007, -5/+21As a gay man myself, I would just hope that articles like this help to open minds a bit. I didn't choose to be gay. If people see homosexuality in other animals, maybe a few will come to the conclusion that there really is something biological and natural going on here. I spent much of my childhood wondering why I was different and if there was anything I could do to change it. At some point you realize that it's something you can't control, like your skin color. It's just who you are.
I wish being gay could just be kept private and that sexuality didn't matter. But if homophobic people don't want homosexuality "shoved down their throats", then stop shoving heterosexuality down our throats. We should all be able to live together without caring who's marrying who. If you don't like gay marriage, fine. Just don't marry a gay person. - Junkyarddawg, on 10/11/2007, -9/+25Sorry, it's just that he was so obsessed with gays that you just *know* that when he climbed on top of his long-suffering wife, he was thinking of something else. And I don't mean baseball.
- wigam, on 10/11/2007, -7/+22Its because they're pink isn't it??
- ViktorVaughn, on 10/11/2007, -3/+17Guerrilla marketing
- thcobbs, on 10/11/2007, -4/+18True, I think gay couples should be able to have a civil union with all the same legal benefits as straight couples. Let them go through the hell of being married that we straight people have to go through.
I'm sure divorce lawyers would love it too because it would increase their client base.
As I said... I don't give a ***** what you want to ***** (as long as it's a legally consenting adult... of the human variety...); as long as you are a good parent, more power to ya. - Octtopsy, on 10/11/2007, -5/+19This reminds me of the time in which a Catholic school refused to go to a zoo purely because they had two male penguins adopting a baby penguin.....
Baby penguin: "I have two daddies!!" - Phrag, on 10/11/2007, -4/+17Hey neosinn. I got something to 'ram down your throat' and I'm holding onto it with both hands right now. Is that manly enough for you?
- Pallas, on 10/11/2007, -4/+17@Drakensteel
Oh please - I think I would rather deal with overt irrational hatred than this kind of patronizing claptrap - at least it's honest. If you're happy and well-adjusted, what the hell is wrong with being proud of some innate, harmless characteristic that even you yourself admit is not a choice? I'm different than you - not less than you. Spare me your lukewarm support.
Your analogy to mental retardation is just insulting, and shows up your true feelings about homosexuality. You obviously view it as a curse rather than an equal but different way of living. This is also true of your comment about the raising of children - you first assume that orphanage-raised children will have "issues" (not necessarily) and then compare that to the "issues" that will (in your opinion) certainly be faced by the children of gay couples. Both assumptions betray your own issues with acceptance of others who are different than you. And I've got news for you - many (most?) children have "issues" regardless of the circumstances of their upbringing. It's called the human condition, and it's not always the fault of those trying to lovingly raise their children in an increasingly competitive and unkind world.
I know I'll probably get dugg down for criticizing a supposedly "tolerant" post, but I believe prejudice and intolerance will never be erased as long as we allow a perverted brand of "acceptance" (usually given in a way, such as the above post, to highlight the tolerant nature of the superior but kindly giver) to insinuate itself into our public discourse as an acceptable substitute for enlightenment.
This is nothing more than holier-than-thou proselytizing, done mainly to justify feelings of prejudice that are recognized as inappropriate without having to take ownership for them. Don't be taken in by it, and don't accept it in yourself. - aduzik, on 10/11/2007, -6/+18@Drakensteel: So you think I was born defective? What, I just can't appreciate boobies like you appreciate them, so that makes me handicapped in some way? That's the old Dr. Laura argument: gays can't relate "properly" (evidently "properly" means that men should view women as rapeable objects, and that women are supposed to regard themselves as rapeholes for godbag men) to the opposite sex, so from a heteronormative perspective, they're defective (hey that rhymes).
Have you ever thought that maybe straight people just can't relate properly to people of the same sex? I mean, most people don't have 20/20 vision, right? So the vast majority of people have "defective" vision.
It galls me that you would compare being gay with mental retardation. You see, one has to do with whether you want to date someone with an innie or an outie, and the other is a handicap that makes day-to-day functioning a real challenge. Do you see the difference? - CryptiniteDemon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13Quote::: arkmtech

We have that already - It's called the superbowl. - timlopez, on 10/11/2007, -4/+15FLA-MINGOS!
/gay lisp - otep, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Clearly, flamingos hate America.
- JonMcL, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14What you folks seem to be forgetting is that in many states (most?) gay couples cannot adopt. So kids stay in the foster care system for like while there are perfectly capable parents that would like to adopt them and are being told they are "unfit" simply because they are gay. So that's why it's splashed all over the place. It's not particular courageous, but it is still considered unusual for most people.
- aduzik, on 10/11/2007, -10/+21I always think it's kind of funny when someone brings this up. My boyfriend and I are both the oldest brothers in our families. He's the oldest, and I've only got an older sister. Both of our brothers are straight. I only hope this doesn't mean we're not going to live as long.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+15"when he climbed on top of his long-suffering wife"
Take it back! TAKE .. IT...BACK!!!! My eyes!!!! MY...EYES!!!!!
Really though. Falwell wasn't climbing on top of anything. That dude made the Michelin man look svelte.
There is a gay Falwell needing a gay midget to service him orally joke here, but i am above that... - Phrag, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11Homosexuals get 'special attnetion' for things like this because they are in a 'special' situation. They have to face opposition that straight people do not so they deserve a little extra recognition for doing a good thing and over coming the obsticales. Its the same as if a bad team scores over a good team in a sport. If two great teams are playing and they score against each other, it is an accomplishment but nothing special since they both are known to have that ability. If a bad team scores on a great one, there is more celebration because it is seen as being uncommon and harder to do than an ordinary score.
The idea of a 'straight-pride parade' is stupid because almost every parade includes straight pride. Every parade I go to, there is a heterosexual couple walking together holding hands or kissing or showing affection. In some parades, a gay couple doing this would get them kicked out or worse. When society is willing to give homosexuals truely equal rights and treatment, then there will be no need for events of exclusively homosexual pride or recognition. Until then, they are going to continue as they should. Gay pride doesn't cause division. Division necessitates gay pride. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+14"I think the problems we have in society regarding racism, sexism, etc are fueled not by those who have a differing opinion, but by those who constantly see a need to force it down our throats."
We white men have is so tough. Jeebus, why can't people stop discriminating against us.
/sarcasm - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+15"Come on... quit burying me and answer the question...
Why is something that focuses on sexual orientation a great read just because it chronicles same-sex couples raising kids?"
Have you SEEN the book?!?! The pictures of the lesbian beavers making out are HOT HOT HOT.. - Dimensio, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13"Therefor, the Flamings are involuntarily gay, proving that homosexuality is a mental disorder and not a choice."
Your conclusion is a non-sequitur. That a condition is not a choice is not evidence that the condition is a mental disorder. - qdkk, on 10/11/2007, -5/+14so maybe humans should not eat and sh*t either?
- qdkk, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12homosexuality is part of a complicated biological mechanism we don't understand (maybe never)
