- Nick5309, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Free CS lessons from the #2 CS college in the nation? Yes, please!
Great find! - houstong74, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11that is such an awesome resource. How did you digg that one up?
- tek1024, on 10/15/2007, -0/+8Yeah, God forbid you should exert yourself to download Real Alternative just for the sake of free education.
- garbs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8They are probably using a helix streaming server. For some reason, lots of universities use them.
- heartcoldfusion, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I've highlighted a helpful digg comment.

http://video.google.com/ucberkeley.html - gta3mobster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Wow, this is ***** awesome. It's like "going to college" for free. I mainly read books on the topics I want to learn, but having the video lectures to supplement them will be very useful.
- ninernick, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I would recommend watching Astro C10 Intro to general astronomy with Filippenko, if you are interested in astronomy.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6I get a free University education offline. All students from Scotland who study at an institution in this country pay no tuition fees whatsoever and face no graduation fees either. It's FREE!
- nedzeve, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Astronomy
- Yarnage, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4For a piece of paper that says you watched them live in a lecture hall, du'h
- jwhiteaker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I'm a third year in the EECS program at Berkeley so here's my 2 cents
CS61a - Harvey - he's the best, teaches it practically every semester
CS61b - Hillfinger - his tests are hell but hey you don't have to worry about that
CS61c - Garcia - really enthusiastic prof, really good class
CS150 - Katz - much better teacher than current semester's prof
CS162 - Kubiatowics - taking this one right now, definitely recommend him
Prof ratings: http://hkn.berkeley.edu/student/CourseSurvey/instr ...
Hope this helps - m1ss1ontomars, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Yeah the RealPlayer has pissed all of us off. But it's better than nothing...
- dave911la, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4hell ya. CAL is great on and off the field! go bears!
- EserVerx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4yes "Free" but its too bad your required to prove that you learned something via completing college courses to be successful.
- exomni, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Good. Education, knowledge. These things SHOULD be free.
Of course, this should not be confused with receiving teaching, or living in a learning environment. The student should obviously contribute his material wealth to his alma matter... then again what many college courses have come to is far apart from "teaching" or "learning"... these "lectures" are a good example. - thenanyu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3for those interested in CS:
CS61A by Brian Harvey: introductory course, high level examination of CS in Scheme
CS61B by Dan Garcia: one of the most popular lecturers on campus. Lower-ish level abstraction topics: C, assembly, high level hardware.
CS162 by John Kubiatowicz: introduction to system programming and operating systems. It's a good introduction to the material - rokinroj, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Download "Real Alternative" nice, lightweight, and free!
http://tinyurl.com/yuzk3p - ImTheChaz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3My thoughts exactly. Welcome to 1999 Berkeley.
- krazikamikaze, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3FYI after every EECS class at Berkeley the students evaluate the class and the professor and the results are posted at http://hkn.eecs.berkeley.edu/student/CourseSurvey/ . If a class shows up more than once you can use the surveys to find out which semester and professor the students considered the best and watch that one.

- lukifer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I've taken three Berkeley classes via podcast now, and they've all been fantastic. (I particularly recommend "The History of Information".)
Paying for education is for suckers. - pAq6Swad, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2I've been listening to the Berkeley podcasts for a couple of years -- very high quality material for free. :)
I recommend the "Existentialism in Literature and Film" podcast from spring '06 by Dr. Hubert Dreyfus (author of Why Computers (still) Can't Think) - lordmetroid, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Your network of contacts you will gain.

I don't mean that sarcastically—I sincerely wish I'd known about CLEP and Dantes (DSST) testing when I was going through school. Could've saved tons of money. - DestroyFascism, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Real player works 100% of the time
