- IEatEmoKids, on 10/12/2007, -1/+119Well time to cut those off.
- diggfinity, on 10/12/2007, -2/+94alien3456: you should get your eyelashes checked out. they look suspiciously like penises.
- BuddyDoQ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+82Kinda cool if you ask me. They hang on my face and clean up after my messy body. I can't see them, they don't seem to make me sick or do anything but clean off my old unused cells. TFA says they may cause break-outs time to time by over population, but nothing a good bar of soap can't fix.
Sounds like win-win to me! - Lean, on 10/12/2007, -0/+75Ignorance *was* bliss......
- the_penguin_boy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+73I'm naming mine Jeffrey and Lauren.

- diggfinity, on 10/12/2007, -4/+41@IEatEmoKids: What would you do if I told you there are living organisms on your johnson?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+38If dust mites are eating our dead skin cells, where does their dead skin go?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27Cool read. Nothing to get grossed out over, seeing as how we all have them. They were there before and never harmed us, im sure it'll continue that way. Now, if they start to rebel....
- Rice, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Pics... it happened. :/

RTFA! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16more importantly, where does OUR dead skin go after they eat it?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9"The mite's digestive system is so efficient and results in so little waste that there is no excretory orifice."
From Wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demodex_folliculorum ) - MrSunshine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Ohh... I want one as a stuffed animal.

- blahtastic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I learned about a lot of things in school. I can assure you eyelash monsters wasn't one of them.
Also, after finishing the article I immediately scratched my eyes. Little bastards, I don't care if you clean up dead skin or not, eat finger! - Elamen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6so your saying when im alone touching myself that im not actually alone???

- awhiteflame, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"eat finger!"
Careful what you wish for. - Fhionnlaoch, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8I think it's a collective name, like Legion ("And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.").
- jhshukla, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5If you think that was eeww, try http://path.upmc.edu/cases/case153/images/gross2.jpg . things like this are everywhere. stop being disgusted about it. btw, this URL links to a picture of colon. it is INSIDE your body. and you can't do anything about it.
- Wonderkind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4They had a cool show on TV a while back. I didn't eat hot dogs for months.
Dig me down for not stopping forever. - Wonderkind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I like the last line. "Just pretend they're not there!"
Do we have a choice on that? - dawglse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3eww, I was going go get a bite to eat but now I don't feel so hungry anymore...
- crashingechelon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3meh a lot of things look sick that are only natural
- xyphur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Very cool. Dugg.
Additionally, alot of you seem grossed out - some even borderline scared - but think for a second... if not one, but many, are able to lodge themselves into the follicle of where a single eyelash is growing, honestly how scary can they be... they're almost on the cellular scale! They're so small that even if you were to try your best to squish them, they'd be able to fit in the ridges of your fingerprint!
...and speaking of fingers, for those of you who are so freaked out about these tiny, harmless facial helpers - I dare you to look through a microscope at what's living under your fingernails. I guarantee you'll NEVER forget to wash your hands again. - Amadeus2490, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3the way I look at it, is you need these mites to eat the dead skin and eat produced by your skin; just like animals balance out natural eco systems, these prevent from way too much dead skin and oil from building up in your eyelashes, and subsequently going in your eyes. You've had these your entire life, and if they were really that gross or harmful they would have killed us all by now.
