- JimMayJr, on 08/06/2009, -1/+168From an engineer's standpoint, yes.
- trafficlight, on 02/18/2009, -2/+147That's funny because the Mohs hardness scale has diamond at 10.
- shaherazad, on 02/18/2009, -2/+144Adamantium is harder
- wontstoptalking, on 02/18/2009, -4/+141Lucy in the skyyyyyyy with lonsdaleite
- oriondr, on 02/18/2009, -8/+140Does this mean diamonds aren't forever?

- CasualNinja, on 02/18/2009, -6/+122Buried: Everyone knows Adamantium is the strongest known substance.
- notzak, on 02/18/2009, -2/+97Technically graphite is forever, not diamonds.
- inactive, on 02/18/2009, -1/+93so do i have to buy my girlfriend a lonsdalite ring that costs a little more than 3 months salary now?
just kidding. I'm not going to marry her. - ElAmo, on 02/18/2009, -8/+93please... the beauty of diamonds is just a myth created by debeers
- inactive, on 02/18/2009, -1/+77It's 58% less forever anyway.
- acdcfanbill, on 02/18/2009, -2/+76Well, we know diamondillium isn't any good... *shakes fist* Weeerrrnnnstrom!
- inactive, on 02/18/2009, -7/+78In Soviet Russia, lonsdaleite blends you!
- AwesomousPrime, on 02/18/2009, -29/+100Chuck Norris eats lonsdaleite for breakfast.
- MadOgre, on 02/18/2009, -0/+69Diamonds have been Pluto'd.
- MeatMountain, on 02/18/2009, -4/+69Nature's hardest metal is now Dragonforce.
- wontstoptalking, on 02/18/2009, -1/+59Wonderflonium is even harder.
Just don't bounce it. - inactive, on 02/18/2009, -2/+59***** Nature, make up your mind.

the
*****, dude. - fasda, on 02/18/2009, -0/+51Technically both will decay into gamma rays during the heat death of the universe

- Mohdoo, on 02/18/2009, -1/+49Wake me up when we find some naquadah
- captainLAGER, on 02/18/2009, -2/+50I just randomly, put commas everywhere.
- moofree, on 02/18/2009, -1/+48Technically diamonds decompose into graphite at geologic timescales.
- JammoBlammo, on 02/18/2009, -2/+48***** appropriate.
- cawpin, on 02/18/2009, -0/+45Don't worry. Yours is still a joke.
- gfxlonghorn, on 02/18/2009, -0/+43Graphite? Technically carbon is forever. Technically that means that no protons/electrons/neutrons are gained or loss. Technically that means that energy is conserved.
- soulkitchen, on 02/18/2009, -0/+43I am strong and yet not hard.
- Metallicat60, on 02/18/2009, -1/+44Flubber.
- S1ngular1ty1, on 02/18/2009, -0/+42Stongest does not = hardest. Titanium is strong but not especially hard.
- Paulish, on 02/18/2009, -2/+43More like Plutowned!!1111!!!!11
- unorginalityftw, on 02/18/2009, -1/+41I wouldn't say that, diamonds are plenty sparkly and nice to look at, but other gemstones basically blow it out of the water. And they are really overpriced; you may as well foot an extra couple hundred and get something rarer if you're really going to get an engagement ring or other assorted jewelry for someone anyway.
- Velvolver, on 02/18/2009, -4/+43Good cause she'll just wear it when she's cheating on you!!! ***** I HATE MY EX
- S1ngular1ty1, on 02/18/2009, -2/+40Pics or......just post some pics please.
- wontstoptalking, on 02/18/2009, -2/+38@Fasda:
Technically, there is a very good restaurant I know of at the End of the Universe, and maybe we can have a nice view of the diamonds decaying into gamma rays there. - roxgod666, on 02/18/2009, -0/+33Brought you the wood.
- tgc1, on 02/18/2009, -1/+34"You see it's one more."
- xerigen, on 02/18/2009, -1/+34Camping? The only tent I'm pitching is in my pants.
- breakaway, on 02/18/2009, -3/+36And dumbass women
- NickLee808, on 02/18/2009, -2/+34Okay, now this I gotta see.
- stinkybinky, on 02/18/2009, -2/+34wikipedia wouldn't lie to me.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lonsdaleite
FTwikipediaA:
It is transparent brownish-yellow in color and has an index of refraction from 2.40 to 2.41, a specific gravity from 3.2 to 3.3, and a Mohs hardness of 7–8. The Mohs hardness of diamond is 10; the lower hardness of lonsdaleite is chiefly attributed to impurities and imperfections in the naturally occurring material, and that a pure sample could be 58% harder than diamond.[1] It can also be created by the thermal decomposition of a polymer, poly (hydridocarbyne), at atmospheric pressure under argon starting at 110 °C. -
