- farfromsubtl, on 03/28/2008, -3/+22After putting chastity belts on their own women before heading out. The hypocrisy!
- DavidtheDuke, on 03/28/2008, -3/+5wouldn't that mean the baby would be stuck?
- rlh1, on 03/28/2008, -1/+8You mean those Muslim's who took over the middle east, North Africa and Spain in the proceeding 400 years before the Crusades didn't partake of the local women? My, such constraint.

- spindoktr, on 03/28/2008, -1/+6Yes, but how will they load this into the Animus?
- acatzr800, on 03/28/2008, -2/+3So we're in search of Father's memetic legacy? Is his name Johnova?
- jamesbrownlord, on 03/28/2008, -1/+2show history happens, seems there is always more unseen than seen.
- Conwaysb0718, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1until its seen, and then the unseen has become the seen, and the newly seen changes history until more unseen is seen, in which case it changes again, which remains to be seen.
- omnithought, on 03/28/2008, -1/+3If words are seed, then I guess they really were spreading the word.
- jboettcher, on 03/28/2008, -2/+2So are there some closet Templars running around over there with their little boxes of treasure?
- Shadowgamers, on 03/28/2008, -1/+1Obviously another inquisition is in the making, at least this time it isn't the Spanish...

- douchewag, on 03/28/2008, -12/+4And forcefully converted millions into christianity.
- panicofficer, on 03/28/2008, -2/+8Both sides committed atrocities... get over it.
- flazz, on 03/28/2008, -2/+9You mean the Byzantines that were forcefully converted to Islam by Mohammed & Co. ?
- JointVenture, on 03/28/2008, -0/+5...and Cave Man bob made Cave Man Rob worship a Mamouth tusk.
Get over it. - skywake, on 03/28/2008, -1/+2Some people have an uncanny ability to live up to their namesake. I think douchewag is one of these people.
- anillop, on 03/28/2008, -1/+5who were then promptly forcibly converted to islam when the crusades were over. get over it that is how religions are spread
- LOVEANDEQUALITY, on 03/28/2008, -2/+0forcefully converted millions into christianity. I DONT LIKE THIS!
- Chairboy, on 03/28/2008, -1/+11Oh sure, when they do it, it's "leaving genetic legacies". But when _I_ do it, it's suddenly a big civil case. There ain't no justice...
- Rotzooi, on 03/28/2008, -6/+10Nice euphemism for what essentially was organized rape.
- empiric, on 03/28/2008, -3/+4And you assert this... why?
Not that it isn't possible, but it wouldn't be consistent with their worldview nor militarily beneficial to give the opposition public-perception "ammunition".
The article calls this reason out: "Thousands of men from England, France, Germany and Italy came through Lebanon on four Crusades between the 11th and 13th Centuries. Many stayed to build castles and settlements, mixing with the local populations." Seems reasonable, but perhaps you have a point backed by evidence you wanted to make. What is it? - JointVenture, on 03/28/2008, -3/+6You've obviously never been to a frat party, it really isnt that organized.
- BECoole, on 03/28/2008, -3/+2You need to learn to read before you start writing.
- empiric, on 03/28/2008, -3/+4And you assert this... why?
- JointVenture, on 03/28/2008, -5/+6Durka, Durka, Durka, jihad , jihad, jihad, yu took our broads!
- jm4847, on 03/28/2008, -9/+2Yeah, both sides committed horrible crimes, which is why I loath both.
Now I find out (I knew about the Crusades) that the crusaders raped women. ***** disgusting. I hope they all died horrible deaths.- JointVenture, on 03/28/2008, -1/+6You need to take your prozac before you post.
- Raziel66, on 03/28/2008, -1/+3You don't think any of the sex was consensual?
- elipabst, on 03/28/2008, -1/+5Yeah they occupied the Holy Land for over 200 years, so I don't think that's an unreasonable assertion at all. There's more of a genetic signature of Muslim conquerors in Spain and I don't seem people up in arms about that. I'm sure rape occurred in both occupations, but I doubt that it was the primary reason they left a genetic signature.
- avengingturnip, on 03/28/2008, -1/+3Or maybe they took wives among the local populations...nah, that never could have happened. We all know that women don't go for foreigners, especially wealthy ones with position.
- jm4847, on 03/29/2008, -0/+3Well many women are soulless, shallow, hollow caskets so that's a good point.

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
O mankind! Be careful of your duty to your Lord Who created you from a single soul and from it created its mate and from them twain hath spread abroad a multitude of men and women. Be careful of your duty toward Allah in Whom ye claim (your rights) of one another, and toward the wombs (that bare you). Lo! Allah hath been a watcher over you.- jmcmullin, on 03/28/2008, -1/+3allah.....like mickey mouse for desert people.......................................just joking, don't go blowin anything up

- JointVenture, on 03/28/2008, -2/+1how about, ***** happens, and Im sure plenty of Lebanese men have raped women in Lebanon and abroad.
- da_bradler, on 03/28/2008, -0/+2The Rape in to "rape and pillage" seems to have left the more significant mark in the long run it seems...
- JointVenture, on 03/28/2008, -2/+1MEN rape women, not cultures, religions or ethnicities.
- hawarkarem, on 03/28/2008, -4/+1Unless you're George Bush
- JointVenture, on 03/28/2008, -1/+2Well Mohamed did rape a 13 year old girl so I guess you got a point.
- hawarkarem, on 03/28/2008, -4/+1Unless you're George Bush
- mogydy, on 03/28/2008, -1/+5The Arabs also left their genetic legacy in Spain and Italy
- webyatri, on 03/28/2008, -1/+1"To have these great civilisations - with the Islamic expansion and the migration from Europe - coming to Lebanon, leaving not only their genes but also some of their culture and way of life, it can only
--make us feel richer." or
-- make us feel 'oh shoot we were f*&*&*ed by both arabs and europeans'. - DiscoS2, on 03/28/2008, -0/+2Lot of talk about rape, but the article suggests that in fact some crusaders stayed in the middle east and intermingled with the population. Sure, no doubt, there was some rape, but there was also men who took wives and became locals. It's like a small village somewhere in eastern Europe, (can't remember exactly where) where they are genetically and culturally linked to a group of crusaders who got lost and settled in this little mountain village. Sometime people join different cultures, and it's ridiculous to assume that European DNA in the gene pool has to mean "crusader rape"
- jmcmullin, on 03/28/2008, -0/+0"crusader orgies?"
- mecharabbit, on 03/28/2008, -1/+1What middle-eastern woman would have been able to resist a European knight in shining armor, and his big...lance? This story explains why so many middle-easterners migrate to Europe and the U.S. - a longing to meet distant relatives and maybe borrow some money from them.
- bluenash, on 03/28/2008, -1/+3We saw. We came. We conquered.
