- Barbarino, on 07/10/2008, -3/+62At first I thought this was from theonion...
- hexer611, on 07/10/2008, -1/+29Dug for the use of "Cow Farts"!!
- CabanaBoy, on 07/10/2008, -1/+24The expression on the cow's face is priceless. "Moo... this is udderly humiliating..."
- Omek, on 07/10/2008, -2/+21It couldn't possibly be people causing climate change. Then, what could it be? The cows! It must be the cows. Quick, strap pink plastic tanks to their backs and collect fart samples... ya, that's the ticket. ;-P
- IbbyIbby, on 07/10/2008, -2/+19what? are we going to blame the cows
- robot1122, on 07/11/2008, -1/+14Bulls are male, cows are female...
- granolajoe, on 07/10/2008, -1/+14I know a city in Northern Colorado that could use thousands of these tanks. It wreaks for 5 miles of cow farts
- marcushellberg, on 07/11/2008, -0/+11*waiting for a hybrid cow*
- handheldchimp, on 07/11/2008, -0/+10Just imagine this:
Scientist 1: You know, there are millions and millions of cows in farms that could be producing, "gases" if you know what I mean...
Scientist 2: Great Scott, Scientist 1, you are right! Cows fart so often that they are a crucial factor in this global warming problem!
Scientist 1: What should we do about these silly cows and their farts?
Scientist 2: I've got it mate! We'll strap gigantic pink containers to their backs and measure the amount of fart gas that emits from their behindus! However, if the containers aren't the right hue of pink, the results will be devastatingly off.
Scientist 1: Right oh, mate. I'll start shoving the tubing up their behinduses so we can start extracting the cow farts! - rz8472, on 07/11/2008, -0/+10Well actually they fart out methane gas (a greenhouse gas), so they do have a point. People certainly contribute more to it though.
- Eavesdropping, on 07/11/2008, -0/+9What about the modest cows? Nothing screams, "I'm farting into a tank!" better than a giant pink tube on your back. They must have contracted design to Isaak Mizrahi.
- Easyoffbam, on 07/11/2008, -0/+9What's with the trend of people spelling too as to and vice versa? Did nobody else learn how to differentiate these at elementary school?
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -0/+9This could be used for the Chick fil a commercial!
- inactive, on 07/11/2008, -2/+10This is important to study, we eat a lot of beef in this country, and all that methane is a major contributor to global warming, (methane is a much stronger greenhouse gas than CO2) anyways:
Laugh now, get it out of your system because its possible that cow dung into cellulosic ethanol. Its possible that we will power our homes with stuff like this in a decade or so... but the 3rd grader in us all starts to giggle, and no one every takes it seriously. kinda farked, huh? - handheldchimp, on 07/11/2008, -1/+8Yes...yes they do. You failed.
- dvsbastard, on 07/11/2008, -0/+7I think most people are interested in this particularly odd study on the effect of methane emissions from cows due to it's method and results, rather than "LOL... Cow Fart..."
But don't let that stop you from being elitist... - x00x, on 07/10/2008, -3/+10We don't no stinkin' cows to fart into plastic bags for any kind of study. A few Glad bags full of my super-concentrated dutch-ovens and the global warming problem will be solved in no time.
- jaywalker, on 07/11/2008, -0/+6light the ass end of that hose and that dream would be realised
- FatBird19, on 07/11/2008, -0/+5Aahahahaha, I love the onion!!...oh, wait....
- Lewie, on 07/11/2008, -0/+5I've read that most of the methane that comes from cows comes from the other end. Something about their cud partially digesting and releasing gases.
- Archer007, on 07/11/2008, -0/+5The solution is obvious: a pre-emptive strike on cows everywhere.
- RobotKeaton, on 07/11/2008, -0/+4In a related study, scientist stuck their little brothers in the tank, to find just how funny it was.
The result? Absolutely hilarious. - masterm1nd, on 07/11/2008, -1/+5The climate could also possibly be changing because of the sun and stuff... you know, because that's what the climate is and does ;)
- Hangly, on 07/11/2008, -0/+4Dugg for "behindus." I do believe that is proper Latin.
- marx2k, on 07/11/2008, -0/+4I really was wondering how many people really thought they plugged the cow's ***** with a tube that led to the tank
- suwoo244, on 07/11/2008, -0/+4I had a feeling that was the cause of global warming...
- inactive, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3Stick some Al Gore farts in that jar as well..He's big, fat and ugly like cows, and he's almost as intelligent as one
- marx2k, on 07/11/2008, -1/+4you're
- TheInformer, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3Feeding the cows a steady diet of Taco Bell bean burritos should increase the amount of gas collected.
- marx2k, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3Right. And they're not attaching the tanks to the cow's *****. They make a permanent hole in the cow's stomach that they attach the tank to. So the methane is measured without having to worry about which end it comes out of.
- sesstreets, on 07/11/2008, -1/+4Sadly, I did to.
- Asianwaste, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3I think that's kind of the point of the experiment.. to see whether or not that claim holds any weight.
- phrenzy, on 07/11/2008, -1/+4Wow dude. You just got faced. Granted, you helped a lot.
- inactive, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3Funny, it's not the cows fart that's the major polutant from the cow, it's actually the cows BURP.
The gas comes from the cows stomach which it burps out, not fart.
I just now read the article and saw it includes burps, but the title didn't.. - kdor, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3Another kind of global warming A-Hole.
- Rudegar, on 07/11/2008, -1/+4pull my hoof!
- Michiko280, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3WHAT!! Its not attached to the tush outlet but drilled into the stomach?! Ouch! That just made this a lot less funny and a lot more disturbing...
- brandonfiquett, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3where can i find one of these collectors for grandpa?
- mikeophile, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3If we strap one of these to every cow, we could stop their greenhouse emissions and farmers would have a potentially profitable alternative to natural gas.
Seriously.
Stop laughing, the tanks don't have to be pink. - justaboutdead, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3well, we never gave them dish soap... just some mineral oil, maybe some corn oil
- GreatSunJester, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3I read handheldchimp's post and the first thought that popped into my fevered brain was the two scientists shouting out 'BRILLIANT!" and opening some Guinness bear.
- Asianwaste, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3Is it really such a moooooot point?
- rachecol, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3Good ol' Greely, CO
also known to the locals as Stinktown - bullhead2007, on 07/11/2008, -1/+4Who the ***** said anything about cleaner air?
Who the ***** said anything about not eating them?
I'm saying collect the methane that comes out of their asses, and off of their *****, and turn that ***** into natural gas, AND EAT THEM TOO. Is that so hard to understand? - technonoob, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3It was on a special Mythbusters episode. They measures they amount of methane out of both holes. The mouth produces more.
MAKE THE COWS STOP BREATHING! - Texadian, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2LOL this would be a worse job then working on a PMU farm (which I used to have) and if you don't know what a PMU farm is then here is a quick summary; Take a pregnant mare (PM) aka female horse, strap a "boot" to its butt to catch the urine (U) which is feed to a jug that is emptied 3 times a day. Oh and just so you few females here on DIGG know this is done to extract the estrogen from the urine to help you when your going though "the change"
Disclaimer: This is no longer done bc they found a plant that can do the same thing hence "I used to have a PMU Farm" - Hangly, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2reeks?
- TastyLamp, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2When is PETA ever happy?
- masterm1nd, on 07/11/2008, -1/+3I didn't realize you'd proved humans are the cause. I'm frankly shocked that the sun isn't even a variable. Or maybe we both 'could possibly' be right because we don't ***** know yet, and it's probably primarily caused by extra terrestrial factors and ever so slightly slightly effected by humans.
