- Killer57, on 09/26/2008, -2/+7"38 percent of Americans in a 2005 poll said they would prefer that creationism, rather than evolution, was taught in the country's schools."

- mikesbaker, on 09/26/2008, -2/+5I wish Dallas had a good natural history museum. here in Dallas our natural history museum might as well be called 'things that were shot in a Texan's back yard and then mounted and put in a museum'
http://www.natureandscience.org/ - Someguy101, on 02/19/2009, -0/+2Life is pretty damn durable in certain forms. Water bears in particular (google it) will survive nearly anything that could happen to the Earth. Life will go on I'm sure, however, which forms of life go on is another story.
- chuckaroo, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2The museum looks super cool having seen it from the de Young museum across the street. I can't wait to take my kids. Yeah for the Bay Area!

I hope they go with this approach. - l0tharnt, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2I went to the original one when I was a kid, the new layout and exhibits in this revision definitely look amazing - should offer a good taste of nostalgia with it.
- ZutroyZuuts, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2It's free to get in tomorrow. I'll probably be at the back of a line (10 x iphone x (ps2+wii)-1) in size.
- SisyphusFragmnt, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2What filth.. An insult to the thinking mind!
- andyb56, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1One more reason to visit SF!!!
- connieLingus, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1"It is not the strongest nor the smartest species that survive, Charles Darwin once said, "but the one most responsive to change"
in today's never ending din of arguments over global warming and greenhouse gas emissions, leave it to sir charles to cut to the meat of the matter. this quote is a classic, and proves without a doubt that no matter what, species will adapt to changing environments, be them "natural" or not. in each of our DNA holds the secrets of a 6 million-year struggle against ever-changing environmental conditions.
ices ages, warm periods, biblical-level floods, super-volcanoes, epidemics, starvation events...its all in there. i agree with darwin, i don't think we can out-smart our way out of climate change. we just have to adapt better to the realities of it. - inchrnt, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1Hey CNN, take your fixation on creationism vs evolution back to the bible belt where you are based and it might seem like an issue. In California, we've moved beyond that nonsense.
- purkel, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1cool i walked by the museum the other day but it wasnt open. im definitely going to check it out soon.
- stradf, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1Anyone else read Califomia? FromDigg homepage.
- mikesbaker, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1you have no idea how ***** tired I am of hearing about that thing. and thought the science is better at the nat hist museum it's way ***** than the creation museum
- leland1, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1The California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco has its own website. Tour the layout using the floor plan:
http://www.calacademy.org/academy/exhibits/floor_p ...
I personally like the Penguin webcams, now live (Wide View, Underwater cam, & pam's penguincam):
http://www.calacademy.org/webcams/penguins/
The academy of sciences houses the world-famous Steinhart Aquarium, and the world's largest all-digital planetarium, the Morrison Planetarium, the 4-story indoor rainforest:

- callmeQ, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1Hippies = awesome weed
I love living in Northern CA!!
I can't wait to see it! We're going on Sunday. I've been waiting forever for this place to reopen! - datdamonfoo, on 09/26/2008, -0/+0I used to frequent the old California Academy of Science museum when I was a child living in San Francisco. It still is the best museum/aquarium I've ever been too. I miss it fondly and when I tried to go back several years ago, it was closed. Now that I no longer travel to California when visiting my parents, as they have moved, I am quite depressed that I will never see this new version of my favorite childhood memory.
- kiwiboyus, on 09/26/2008, -1/+1I watched a show about this place and it's design about a month ago, very very cool. I can't wait for our next trip up to SF so we can go visit it.
- radish01001, on 09/26/2008, -1/+1This place has been closed way too long. I can't wait to go now, except that I'm gonna have to wait a couple months for the hype to die down.
- kebwi, on 09/26/2008, -1/+1What, no creationist spittle in the comments yet? Well, as Chief Wiggum once said on a related topic, "Just relax and it'll come, son."
- barstegry, on 09/26/2008, -2/+2It is not the strongest nor the smartest species that survive, Charles Darwin once said, "but the one most responsive to change.".. How sad is it that I read this and immediately thought of the presidential race going on right now.. DAMN YOU DIGG!!! DAMN YOU!!!!
- Anelly, on 09/26/2008, -2/+1I guess indeed the problem is not how the life on Earth appeared but how long will survive?
- brizznady, on 09/26/2008, -6/+1CA = Hippie State
