- Blackscorpion, on 10/12/2007, -2/+33So it has come to this. We can't even get up and go outside to do our bird watching.
- MaLaCoiD, on 10/12/2007, -3/+27I am impressed with the refresh rate and quality. I like watching the brave bald eagle be vigilant against terrorists in real time.
- teamparadox, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20that bird looks pissed
- capn_caveman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Eagles would taste with sensory perceptors on their tongues. :P
- spacefugitive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9This is tight! Better than listening to my professor :)
- o_sam_o, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9For some reason I feel like it knows im watching it
- kev26, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Haha, surely we have a digg user somewhere that is an Eagle expert.
- flowaus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Where do I enter the text asking him to dance? All bird cams have to have that.
- kev26, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7We just witnessed the nest handoff! There are two eggs in the nest there. Now is that the dad or the mom in there? Whos on break?
- capn_caveman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I want to see one eat something.
- DSK123, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7"This feed is only available during the daylight hours"
It would be even cooler if they had an infrared camera for the nighttime" Hey eagles need there privacy too =P - Tomholius, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7OMG did you see it move that leaf!?!? I almost crapped my pants!
Sweet stream! - Qopax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Gah! The eagle just pointed its ass at me!
- EsotericBoredom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5This is cool.. but a little disturbing. The eagle is just laying there trying to look busy like the people @ my office. Something tells me that if i watched them like this though they would call the cops.
- msbeckman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I expected some poor quality webcam that had a crappy refresh rate. This is so fast and clear it is unbelievable. Its fun just to watch it.
- zmigliozzi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/zmigliozzi/OrlyThis.jpg
Take the place of O RLY OWL?? I vote yes - CardinalFang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I didn't realize the camera had a mic too. You can faintly hear other birds singing in the background. I wonder if the eagle will make a bird call. I've never heard an eagle call before.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Now THAT is strangely addicting
- 5m0k3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Absolutely wonderful animal. At one time, I was an avid birder. I still get out and do it periodically.
From what I remember, the Bald Eagle shows a degree of reversed sexual size dimorphism--that is, females are typically larger than males. Both sexes, but mostly female, incubate the eggs.
Eagles build huge nests that may grow to weigh hundreds of pounds, the result of thousands of deliveries, by both genders, of woody nesting material over the years. The nests are typically lined with finer materials to provide insulation and cushioning, and to help keep eggs from wedging between the twigs that make up the bottom of the nest cup. Bark may be used for this, as well as seaweed in some cases.
One egg is usually laid every other day until the clutch is complete (taking a large amount of energy, in addition to the energy expended during nest-building). Once hatched, the female does most of the chick-feeding, whilst the males do most of the hunting. - XxUNDEROATHxX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I like teh caption they added there...
"Update 27/03/2006 - Hello digg users! We weren't expecting you!"
I guess it must have been under a full load eralier today...
Thats a pretty cool stream,a nd its such good quality! Most streaming video updates every second or so.... - zweben, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Um... I refreshed the page and the bird was instantly facing the opposite direction. (Was facing left, now facing right.
Either I was watching something that wasn't live, or there are two cams. Either way, cool stuff.
Now if there were an LED sign in the background that you could send messages to and the bird could watch... that would be the ultimate Digg. - Jolene, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Whoa! I just refreashed and its daytime again...and it seems like from a diffrent angle... Maybe they start the mornings feed over during the night? o.O
- jonjj7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Cool facts:
-- Partners mate for life
-- They can live to be 60 years-old (in captivity at least)
Gotta love Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bald_eagle - eLiTeGoodGuy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I agree, This is really good for refresh rate and quality
- HawkeyeMatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"This feed is only available during the daylight hours"
It would be even cooler if they had an infrared camera for the nighttime - imdamaverick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Where do we type what we want it to do?...That eagle costume looks real, a lot better than that Subservient Chicken.
- nuclearpenguins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Ok this is damned cool.
- CaptRR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well then what are you waiting for? Get a web cam and crawl up that tree!!
- jessedredd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Strange, I just sit here and watch them. Not doing any work.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5this rules.
- Lut3s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Hey, mine's better.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v54/Lemon_Head/Orly.jpg - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3he's, he's restin'! Remarkable bird, the Bald Eagle, idn'it, ay? Beautiful plumage!
- spazzium, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Hooray, staving off boredom one webcam at a time.
- crazyclones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Set up a group on Frappr...Who's watching the angry bald eagle?
http://www.frappr.com/baldeaglenest - nazsco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The morons changed the site. now it don't work.
- engy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Amazing stream, +++Digg
I wish the camcorder gave a little better idea of scale. Truly I have seen several of these birds recently around Catwaba Island in NW Ohio. A couple of them flew right over my head and seemed to be collecting sticks and other materials for their nests. They really are massive birds, in person they are even more awe-inspiring than this wonderful stream shows us. Thanks very much to those who are streaming this content, the world deserves to see more of these birds. - urbanight23, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I think it noticed the camera. 10 bucks says it tries to disembowel it by the end of the day.
- RobotCitizen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Cool digg, and a beautiful animal.
- spicebreath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3yea...I saw that too. Looked like more than 2 eggs eh?
- majordanger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That is cool. Too bad I have a job during daylight hours. But thanks to another Digg link I have my screen wired with a H.C.T.B. button (here comes the boss) so I can continue with my work simulation till he leaves.
- soloride, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I did not notice there was any sound because the eagle was not making any sounds. Then just as i read this comment the eagle started chirping. That was so funny!
- DougPenn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Awww she's got eggs. I wanna see one hatch!
- shultzy055, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There's a couple that live down near my lake house. Saw them tearing open a dear on shore one time....
That was pretty sweet. - ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Even on fullscreen (15"), it's great quality. This is great, I can use it this weekend for something I'm doing.
- cheese06, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3So this is the bird that defends America. Attack those evildoers Mr. Eagle!
- ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've been in scouting for 10 years (having my Eagle ceremony this weekend) and never saw one up close from that. There were a few nests near my little league fields so they would always fly around there.
- Dash-2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Probably the closest any of us will ever get to one of these birds"
I've been about 2 inches away from one. Oh the joys in being a Boy Scout from Oregon... - CaptRR, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3They run archived videos at night.
- Hoogie7Dowser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You have to refresh your browser every few minutes to keep the stream feed, or else the stream degrades, and then you're left with a static picture that changes every 10 seconds or so.
- ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hoogie- That's why you don't run it in your browser. Just run it in WMP or another program that can run live WMP streams.
