    Or you would have been if dig users weren't extremely susceptible to reverse-psychology. Anyways you don't have to a history major or anything to know this, it was on PBS like one or two years ago.

  • culbeda, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Last I heard, the scholarly view was that female gladiators existed but were quite rare. For some reason, people seem to be overly excited about this concept and blow the scale of their involvement out of proportion.

  • ultimate_ed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Several years back there was one of those History/Discovery channel documentaries about this. I think it was called Gladiatrix and seemed to be a response to the depiction of a female gladiator in the theatrical movie "Gladiator". I never looked it up, but the narrator sounded like it was Lucy Lawless herself. As I recall, the conclusion was that they were rare, but not unheard of.
