Thats my fave - OJXs, on 08/25/2008, -26/+303"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away."
wasn't on the list, so I thought I'd add one that I also like - GregFD3S, on 08/25/2008, -16/+279Atheism is a non prophet organization.

- thunderFoots, on 08/25/2008, -18/+192I don't believe the website exists.
- ironhide, on 08/25/2008, -7/+148We atheists will never do that. We like sleeping in on Sundays.
- OneLess, on 08/25/2008, -17/+147My favorite (not on there) is from Dan Barker: "If the only way you can accept an assertion is by faith, then you are conceding that it can't be taken on its own merits."
- inactive, on 08/25/2008, -1/+128I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours. - Stephen Roberts
- khaavren, on 08/25/2008, -14/+130Thank god im athiest
- pushmouse, on 08/25/2008, -5/+107Did you ever have an atheist knocking on your door at 7am every Sunday?
- ciaran036, on 08/25/2008, -12/+106From my experience - so true.
- danomagnum, on 08/25/2008, -9/+102Being agnostic, I guess I'll never really know whether there is a server with a list of atheist quotes on it.
- CrushThemTorg, on 08/25/2008, -2/+93Clearly, this is God punishing their server.
- haikuFU, on 08/25/2008, -7/+91Atheists are a marginalized group of people, and if they are not vocal about separation of church and state or their beliefs (or lack thereof), then they become even more marginalized.

Well the Lord said in Matthew 5:25, that the website does exist. Therefore, it does! Now you may think you have evidence, but the good Lord has given me all the evidence he needs, in this great book! Hallelujah! - JohnnyMarr, on 08/25/2008, -0/+74I'm a Christian and never once have I had an atheist bother me. They're actually pretty good at keeping their beliefs to themselves, unlike many religious fanatics.
- GregFD3S, on 08/25/2008, -2/+75"Men never commit evil so fully and joyfully as when they do it for religious convictions"
That's my favorite, although I don't think it's on the list. - GoneGreen, on 08/25/2008, -1/+66Jesus Christ, you butchered that sentence.

- inactive, on 08/25/2008, -7/+62Thankyou for telling me what I think.
- solistus, on 08/25/2008, -0/+54In my experience, atheists tend to have thought through the world's problems from a much more pragmatic, personally engaged perspective than people who blame all the bad things in the world on some vague metaphysical notion of evil. Becoming an atheist in modern society, for most people, involves casting off a religious upbringing. In general, if you look at any one choice, belief or life decision, people who have struggled and found their own beliefs tend to be more compassionate and forward-thinking than those who haven't. I'm not saying religious is inherently backwards, simply that, given that more people are born into religion than into atheism, it's simple math and demographics to realise that a higher proportion of atheists must have chosen to redefine their beliefs from how they were brought up than religious people. If the majority of society were atheist, I would say the same thing about people who choose to be religious (although I would still have my reservations about how one can be truly altruistic with a Judeo-Christian worldview, but that's another debate entirely and we're talking about religion in general, not just mainstream Christian metaphysics). On that note, people born into secular families who later find religion tend to have a more well-thought out world view than atheists who were raised that way.
I'm an atheist who was raised in a secular household, so obviously I don't mean to condemn anyone who happened to be born into the belief system they later decided fit their personal beliefs. I gave serious thought to becoming a Christian at one point in my life and decided that I did not and could never truly believe in things that denied my understanding of empirical reality. To sum it up as a matter of general principle, people who have seriously questioned the beliefs they were raised to hold tend to be more compassionate and more thoughtful in all senses of the word than people who haven't. - Sail3, on 08/04/2009, -4/+54"I help others not because i dont want to go to hell, because my higher power wants me to be of service to others."
And if you don't do what this higher power wants you will go to hell, right? Why not just help others for the sake of helping others? Golden rule and such... - Vidalsassgirlie, on 08/25/2008, -2/+51"I help others not because i dont want to go to hell, because my higher power wants me to be of service to others. "
This is precisely why they are better than you. Some people help others because they know it is the right thing to do. You do it because somebody in authority told you that you had to. - wrzhydr, on 08/25/2008, -8/+55ITS NOT FUNNY ANYMORE.
*****. - DrPoodle, on 08/25/2008, -4/+50Hey guys, I'm the owner and author of "The Atheist Blogger". Just like to say a massive "w00t!" for getting on the front page of Digg. It was totally unexpected (I usually only get ~1000 visits per day), and it managed to crash the entire server. We are trying to fix this ASAP, but be prepared for quite a bit of downtime. I will of course now be installing some form of caching plugin... :P
- TheGroje, on 08/25/2008, -10/+53“My atheism, like that of Spinoza, is true piety towards the universe and denies only gods fashioned by men in their own image, to be servants of their human interests.” - George Santayana

- FTLJohnson, on 08/25/2008, -3/+41I'll stop talking about it when an openly Atheist non-socialist runs for president, and gets at least 1% of the popular vote. I might even settle for .5%
- fxu1989, on 08/25/2008, -0/+38I'm an atheist, and I never talk about it, unless topics like these arise... which it only happens on the net.
But otherwise, never. - inactive, on 08/25/2008, -3/+40Digg him up, lol, he said it himself:
Atheists ARENT bad people who think we think more then everyone else! - thcobbs, on 08/25/2008, -15/+51As a Christian, I will not judge someone's personal beliefs on God. It just seems hypocritical. If you want to say there is no God, good for you. I'll even sit down and have a calm debate(although my arguments can't be considered logical). But to sit on the internet, you'd think I was a crazed bomber, bent on blowing up abortion clinics....
I'm just tired. Tired of the arguments, the vitriol, and the mutual condescensions. As Rodney might say, "Can't we all just get along?" - Bilabrin, on 08/25/2008, -0/+36"When I was a young boy I prayed to God for a bicycle. - kelsosmythe, on 08/25/2008, -4/+39Don't know who origiannly wrote it but,
"Christianity is the belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.".

- calebhawk, on 08/25/2008, -14/+43I believe in God, but also believe in Love/Peace between everyone, religious beliefs aside... I wish all Christians thought the same way, but to be honest, they sadly don't. To all the atheists out there reading this. I love you guys/gals, some of you are my best friends and one day hopefully all of us will live in harmony, but let's not get our hopes up.

Hmm, do you perhaps think that atheists have simply been a bit fed up with religious zealots and nutjobs interfering with *every* aspect of the public's government and attempting to destroy public education for the past several thousands of years? I applaud those who let their opinion be known. It's been way too long that non-religious people have kept quiet letting the religious ones not only control the world (despite them being less qualified), but also letting them seriously ***** the world up. - lisaawesome, on 08/25/2008, -1/+30I recently went to an urgent care clinic and had the joy of answering what my religion was on one of the many forms. I think it is the first time I have gotten to write down "pastafarian" for my religion. It felt nice.
- dan2, on 08/25/2008, -2/+30Do you always go around copy-pasting nonsense?
- GregFD3S, on 08/25/2008, -18/+46@wrzhydr:
Most people that call themselves "agnostic" are just afraid to use the word "atheist". - bryxal, on 08/25/2008, -4/+32As an Atheist I agree. BUT it seems that in the US specifically, it has become a war... And Religion won the last few battles. It is somewhat Like gay rights 20 years ago. Not nearly as bad but Sadly some people will need to fight this to be treated fairly. Now of course some will be blinded with their cause as with all causes and will swing the pendulum too far... but that will be the centrists next battle.
