- greatghandi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Awesome dude! Cheating!
- codemonkey420, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8now, you don't have to worry about time on your hands :)
- zorplex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7While not nearly as sophisticated or impressive in scope, I did come up with a way to cheat the 100 lightning dodges needed in Final Fantasy X in order to get one of the legendary weapons. I took a photoresistor and soldered wires connecting it to the button on the PS2 controller thus causing it to simulate a button press when light was applied to it. After adjusting the contrast on the television and taping the resistor to the screen I let it sit for a night and came back the next morning to claim my prize.
- kylesellers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I remember leveling up all the way to 99 on Final Fantasy III on SNES during the river rafting scene, where if you made wrong you would loop around and need to fight all the enemies again. By letting the raft just keep on making the wrong turns, setting the turbo on the A button, setting the menu to memory, having one of my characters cast pray and the rest of them attack, you could get to level 99 by letting the game just run for about a week.
- xvertigox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7To be honest, it's pretty lame. I was expecting a bot or something.
- michael1406, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Interesting. Some achievements are stupid though.
- kylesellers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4No, they are not bluetooth, they use a proprietary technology utilizing 2.4ghz wireless.
- Seruphim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I don't know if I've ever been so bored by a video in my life
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Wow...a game that you don't even need to play in order to beat. No wonder I've never really been interested in Final Fantasy.
- paulster2626, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Always thought about doing this to level up characters in Final Fantasy games. I guess I just wasn't smart/motivated/insane enough to actually do it.
- 1iProd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4xBot? What's Tim Buckley gonna have to say about this?
- disdain_se7en, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Dude, Im all about playing games and earning that stuff. But at the same time, I applaud your ingenuity. I honestly got a kick out of that, good *****!
- kylesellers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That's one of the funniest things I've ever heard of. And here this whole time, I've just been *playing* the games...
- kylesellers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The one thing I want to know, is whether or not he is willing to rent this out!
- oldtimegamer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Wow, and I though i had a lot of time on my hands.
- czimmerman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The achievement thing always pissed me. That whole part of "growing up" when you get out of college and get a full time job really limits your time to play to play video games, so while I might be better than my friends, they all have like a gazillion achievement points, and I have like...2.
Stupid 360. I still love you, though, but sometimes, I just go, "Man, you're not right. 30 YEARS?!?!?!" - emjaymj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2that only took me about 15 minutes do it legitly...
- MilesThirst, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Now… on to that Madden ‘06 Thirty Years of Franchise achievement…"
too bad you could have automated that without a robot...
you can just simulate 30 years to get that achievement - codemonkey420, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Odd that everyone doesn't pay the overpriced cost for OXM? Doesn't seem odd to me, the Internet is free, I'll get my news there thank you (even if its a few weeks behind on random articles)
- gaijintendo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Are the controllers not bluetooth? Why not write a transfer protocol for the joystick and emulate it - pretending to be a third party controller - if such a thing exists. I assume there is some minute handshaking going on, but can't you dump bluetooth packets these days too?
- kelbear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I've done the auto-thing for FF games too, fairly common.
- jkilby99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Um... is that controller even on? I see no lights around the Guide Button, and unless there is a way to turn that off without turning the controller off...
- Timis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Watch till the end. Filmed with iMovie.
For some reason I find that funny... - MaximegalonInfo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Better Solution: Get a programmable remote, record the signals from the controller. Nothing mechanical to break.
- gaijintendo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1ah well, thankfully the wired option remains, and I will bet the port is analogous to USB as was the case on the previous Xbox.
- 1337gmr, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Gamestooge? That's also in this months OXM, and how does a post sooo old make it now with 34 Diggs? Odd.
- oldtimegamer, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2I guess???
- EliteEagleX, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Back again, I just remembered... isn't there one on like Madden in which you HAVE to BLOCK a punt? LoL
- EliteEagleX, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Uh... why didn't he just rubberband both sticks like people do in Rainbow Six: Vegas to rank up? All the "Xbot" is doing is moving the character....lol
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Site isn't down but took awhile to load...
