- slimc9999, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13I hope Sony is paying DAX well for the overtime work! Love my 3.03 OE-C
- JimmyNero, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Yeah a total legend
- pronouncable, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12You and you alone.
- seventoes, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11If you dont know, you dont really need it.
- u8myfoood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9wow that was what 4 days since the C+D team did its magic?
- HolyChimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6@fatdog:
People didn't stop making games for the xbox when that was cracked, or the dreamcast, ps2, ps1, gamecube, etc. As long as they stop the average joe from sticking a game into their PC and copying it with nero they're probably stopping the majority of piracy. Having to download cracked firmwares and potentially bricking the PSP puts a lot of people off. I know if I had one I would think twice before I did it, and I'm the kind of person that reads news about cracked firmwares for consoles I don't have! - fatdog789, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Did it ever occur to you that companies stopped making games (well, the companies that were making games to begin with) for the PSP because it was so easily hacked?
What's the incentive to spend money on a game if it's just going to available for free on the internet, especially where the most likely users of the system are the ones best able to make use of the hacks for the system?
Companies *should* be willing to take a chance and adopt new business models, yada yada. But they're not going to unless they know they can profit. - PunkRampant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Sony hates this guy so much they're gonna order a hitman on him soon, if they haven't already.
- krakkinem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7if Dark_Alex keeps this up, he'll be worshiped as a deity in about 1000 or so years. Or at the very least they'll invoke his name as a rallying cry in the bloody Sony Wars of 3001.
- DigeratiPrime, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6This is custom firmware 3.10 OE-A
Since it is the first release, it can only be installed as a full installation.
Instructions are as always, oeupdmaker to create the dxar from 150.PBP and 310.PBP, and 310oeflasher
to install the firmware from the dxar previously generated.
Although, it is obvious, i'll say it in capital letters: DO NOT USE ANY DXAR FROM 3.03 OE, USE THE ONE
GENERATED WITH THE INCLUDED OEUPDMAKER AND SONY 1.50 AND 3.10 FIRMWARES UPDATES.
Checksums of the generated dxar:
CRC32: 58D45EDF
MD5: BF1862F73FDF4B7458279ACFF4F6DAA2
SHA1: 683AD0ABA48A7968F3172A5AB2E41CF95A476801
SHA256: 2107EC67CE7434E250FF71AF302430B3586AA4519F3405D43594414B3C940B74
Note 1: the installer will disable all plugins to avoid incompatibilities when booting. You can
enable them again in the recovery menu.
Note 2: the plugin to load 3.02 pops won't work anymore in 3.10 OE, due to some changes in pops
modules structure (meaudio fused with popsman, idcanager/idmanager behaviour slightly changed).
A new plugin for 3.10 could be written next week.
Changes in 3.10 OE-A:
- Change from 3.03 firmware to 3.10
- 4th level of brightness (aka battery eater) can now be selected also without ac adaptor.
- Changes in hen core:
* Static user elf's can now be executed in the 3.10 kernel. (this includes snes user version
between other programs)
* Tyranid's patch (added in 3.03 OE-C) consequences was not explained very well in the changelog of 3.03 OE-C:
- For programmers: it allows kernel modules to have user imports, making kernel programming
in 3.03/3.10 less strict.
- For users: plugins and applications that worked in 2.71 SE, but not in OE, *may* now work in 3.03OE-C
and 3.10 OE-A. - Cosmosis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5[Download]

- twtmc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5dark_alex should just make his own firmware. I'm sure he could make an extremely kick ass psp linux distro (not necessarily linux, but you get the idea) with his knowledge of the system. I would love to have all sorts of audio and video codecs on my psp and have a better media player on there, and if anyone could do that, it would be DA.
- PunkRampant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Dark_Alex's firmware has unlocked full-resolution AVC MP4, so... now video playback IS as good as it should be.
- Zoids, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4You can do just about anything with a PSP that has a Dark_AleX custom firmware.
And yes, you can play ROMs. - scragg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"I need a 3.0.3 downgrader that DOESNT use GTA. they better get on it. I mean if they can't crack the firmware without something silly like that, I am just going to forget it. Way too unsupported."
The is no downgrader that is stand alone it works off the exploit in the code of GTA its not silly its absolutly critical to the home brew community most software only modifications are helped or entirely installed by exploits. Its NOT silly its the only entrance in at the moment and once the latest gta version gets patched the may never be a way in again.
I don't really think your in a position to criticize their (Dark_Alex and co) work and I don't think you can really criticize something that costs no money to do apart from having to rent or lend a single game to have full ISO backup loading ability's not to mention the home brew out there.
So stealthgear get out there and get the GTA version in whatever way you can or sit there forever waiting for a version of the downgrader that is stand alone because you cant be bothered to go out and find the game and well your at it why don't you complain to dark_alex about the quality of his "PRODUCT" and this bad cracking skills.
on a more gentle note:
Take a moment to understand how it was done and how hard it was before complaining / moaning about it.

Use this guide, it tells you how to downgrade any psp to 1.5, even a 3.03 psp. But your gonna need a copy of gta:liberty city stories unpatched to downgrade.
http://forums.qj.net/f-psp-hacks-9/t-guidethe-ultimate-downgrader-guide-90916.html - Daniel591992, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm wondering too. Where do you place the .ico's?
- N1XUK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I was just wandering what the media player was like now, heard before that using the OEM firmware, mp4's playback wasnt as good as it should be to promote UMD sales.
Thinking of getting one for my gf to use exclusively for videos, to replace the iPod5g she''s stolen off me for dawson creek! :S - slackerbox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2this is awesome! I'm still on 3.02 OE-B, and was just going to be upgrading to the latest 3.03 OE... skip that!
- itseffinkasey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@ fatdog789
If there was a game actually worth buying... then I'd buy it in a heart beat. I don't download psp games and run them from the memory stick, I just do without all psp games and just load homebrew or now PSX games. - mxpx720, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i'm on the 3.10 custom firmware...
- raid517, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2OK I hope you guys don't sink me just for asking - but I'm a total n00b. Well not so much a n00b - I don't even own a PSP. However my nephew does - and I plan on flashing his PSP for him at some point in the coming week.
The problem is that he is already running the official 3.03 firmware.
Can someone please point me to an easy step by step guide on how to use this firmware to safely flash his PSP? (A YouTube video would be neat too if one existed).
I really don't want to screw his PSP up and end up having to pay out for a new PSP for him, so any help anyone can offer would be very much appreciated. - FieroRocky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I found a copy at a Ritz Camera in Delaware (Christiana Mall) for 49.95. There was still a copy there.
- knodi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I hope the PS3 firmware hacks are soon to come.
- webphreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@twtmc: I agree that a completely alternate firmware for the PSP would be great but the time and effort that would go into that outweighs the merits as we already have a professional (well we hope) team of coders making the firmware over at sony which is a quite well designed and versatile after it is hacked and no doubt it can be modified to add features that we might want so why start from scratch.
Saying that I think everyone would be on much better legal ground if it was made from scratch.
Anyway good work Dark Alex. For his sake I hope that Sony does not try and sue him for whatever bs they try and I also think that maybe someone should offer him a nice job because he is obviously skilled - po43292, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I need GTA:LCS unpatched...
- albinoMithos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Oh Sony will patch the holes but unfortunately for them, no one will update to their firmware....
- Zenithan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Try looking around here:
http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=45685
I only did a preliminary search, so I hope that helps. - jmaynardg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Are you in Cambridge/Boston? If so, I'll help you out. I've got a copy. Just buy me a coffee.
- sporm, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5OK. I am a noob.
Yesterday I had a stock 3.03 PSP. Today I have a 3.03 OE-C.
What's the difference? Well, it does everything the 3.03 stock will do, but in addition, if you drag iso or cso's of game files into a ISO folder in the root directory of your duo stick, the system will load and play them as if they were on a UMD. I didn't buy the psp as a game platform so I won't make much, if any, use of this feature. To me having an open system is more fun than not. This principle extends elsewhere for example I opened up an ICOM ht rig so that it would transmit on all frequencies, not that I would do so except in a true emergency.
Obviously SONY cannot (officially) like this since its promotes pirating as the major torrent sites have all the top psp games already ripped and ready to go. Unofficially, their feelings may be more ambivalent since being able to mod your psp will increases sales of psp's by a certain amount. - GuyHersh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Use this package if you want to install 3.10 OE-A hassle free (no need to create your own data.psar file, or any of that crap).
http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=58272&p=1
Just download, unpack to your PSP, and run the update (If using OE or SE, make sure you're in 1.50 kernel mode. Hold Right trigger to access recovery mode while the PSP is starting up to change this.)
Read the link for further instructions. - pronouncable, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This broke Metal Slug Anthology for me. Interestingly enough, only Metal Slug 6.
- PunkRampant, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I had to use my best friend's GTA which he had nearly broken. It was the golden key to homebrew goodness, and my friend used to take out of the protective shell and use the disc as a frisbee. It was a miracle the thing still worked.
- PunkRampant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think you can basically play roms from any system that came out before the PS2, since that generation of consoles obviously had games too complex for the PSP.
PSX, N64, GBA, you name it. All you need is the system's emulator running from your PSP's 1.50 kernel and you're playing roms in no time. - tc811, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh, only 6? I thought the rest of the game was messed up too. Thanks for the heads up.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@neiltc13
***** you - mxpx720, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What homebrew would you guys recommend that I get? I'm on 3.10 and just got my psp today so i'm at ground zero.
- PunkRampant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@raid517
Use the links the other guys posted. You'll also need an unpatched version of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, very important. And don't upgrade to Sony's official 3.10 release because I don't think there's a downgrader for it yet. - SystmBetatester, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3awesome! i love custom firmwares for psp! all the homebrew and goodies sony used to try and lure us to ditch homebrew with even more because sony sucks!
- po43292, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1not even near me...thanks though....found one on ebay for $50
- Daniel591992, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ebay?
- popothebright, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1One has to wonder why Sony isn't just selling digital downloads of PS1 games in PSP format. Its already happening anyway, but for a couple bucks a piece is there anyone who would bother with this whole firmware crap? If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, Sony.
- ffachopper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So... there's no way to downgrade from 3.10 or format and load a new one? My brother has a PSP with the 3.10 official version and told me about the custom firmwares but it seems he screwed up by upgrading...
- andrewtr89, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey great work Dark_Alex. We are all forever in debt!
I posted an article on my site aswell.
http://pspcube.com/index.php?subaction=showfull&id=1170696533&archive=&start_from=&ucat=4& - SixF33tUnder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Are they selling PSP's with firmware 3.10 already installed? I've got a Best Buy 2 year warranty on my PSP and it would be great to get another one like new since all firmwares to 3.03 and motherboards can be downgraded.. but imagine my surprise if I switched it for a 3.10!
- elsidders, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Wow. That's great! Nice to see it!
