- vman81, on 05/21/2008, -6/+444Yay, finally a review of a game where i can set the graphics to "high" :D
- MacTyler, on 05/21/2008, -2/+352The three people at, "People Can Fly" studios are freaking out right about now.
- oldsurly, on 05/21/2008, -6/+284Painkiller torrents just got a 10,000 person jump in leechers.
- Nayson, on 05/21/2008, -8/+189Latest score:
Yahtzee 1-0 Escapistmagazine's bandwidth. - zdiddy85, on 05/21/2008, -18/+155These comments are just getting worse and worse...
- Meatball01, on 05/21/2008, -2/+136Dugg for Painkiller and Detachable Penis.
This game is great, it's only 10 dollars on Steam too. - inactive, on 05/21/2008, -7/+132dugg for a gun that fires shurikans and lightening
- mrballistic, on 05/21/2008, -1/+10720, actually:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People_Can_Fly - Takfam, on 05/21/2008, -17/+121What Yahtzee is saying here is what I've been saying for years now. At what point do games get too realistic? I like a certain suspension of disbelief in my games, especially first person shooters. I want crazy over-the-top enemies and weapons (ie, a gun that shoots shurikens and lightning). I want campy dialog and bad puns a la Duke Nukem.
If you want games to be 100% authentic to real life, then maybe you should... oh I don't know... DO SOMETHING IN REAL LIFE! - glasnostic, on 05/21/2008, -12/+93i feel about the Escapist's servers the way Yahtzee feels about most games.
- Drakoola, on 05/21/2008, -3/+79It's on Steam for a mere $10, I'm buying it there so I don't have to feel like a jackass for stealing a quality game.
- Baylow, on 05/21/2008, -1/+69Umm, If there were games out there called "Get Stuck in Traffic Madness" or "Work all day then go home and fap" then maybe i'd see your point.
However, thanks to the legal restrictions of our society i think stealing cars, driving at ridiculous speeds, and shooting people is out of the question. - Pimpalicious316, on 05/21/2008, -1/+59"Work all day then go home and fap"
I actually have the current high-score in that one. - bagboyrebel, on 05/21/2008, -3/+50So I understand his point, but the original Doom DID have key hunting.
- mnemy, on 05/21/2008, -10/+54Dugg for the love of mindless murder and gore. Sometimes it's good to go back to the roots.
- sexybobo, on 05/21/2008, -0/+40Yay a review of a game that sounds fun and cost $10 and they have it on steam so i don't have to wait for it to be delivered
http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=app&A ... - Suil, on 05/21/2008, -36/+75The new lay out for the videos looks great. Shame the servers are getting hammered so hard that it cannot be watched.
Even if no one can watch the video anyway, this will still get to the front page ;) - unicronband, on 05/21/2008, -2/+37I like the fact that the video controls actually load now. It helps when you're at work and need to pause the video as Yahtzee is unleashing a profanity-laced tirade involving triple-***** hookers and such. Moms with children tend to have an aversion to that sort of thing.
- Frostek, on 05/21/2008, -0/+33Very, very frightening me!
- greatblackowl, on 05/21/2008, -4/+36There's really no reason to invest in the hardware to run crappy modern titles like Crysis when you could pick up a legal copy of this game new off Amazon for $4. Just bought Far Cry today for $5. Hopefully, too, companies will start optimizing better as hardware requirements become so much greater than what standard comps offer. CoD4 will run on my 3 yr old laptop, so that's one additional sale that game had.
- SlimeyPete, on 05/21/2008, -2/+33It's a rare example of Digg scores giving an accurate representation of quality.
- BugMeNot2, on 05/21/2008, -1/+30Stop being fags and buy the game.
- DarkShroud, on 05/21/2008, -4/+31Your mother was rubbish but your father still took a chance on her so you should do the same for this game.
- gh0st32, on 05/21/2008, -75/+100"the only way the gun could be more awesome is if it had ***** and is on fire"
yes! Epic win! - joshcxa, on 05/21/2008, -1/+25someone needs to stop saying epic
- mrballistic, on 05/21/2008, -13/+35the final level of painkiller was easily one of the best designed levels i've ever played. great stuff, that. i'm actually surprised that he didn't talk about it.
- Hosalabad, on 05/21/2008, -0/+21Dugg. Yahtzee is awesome, he ripped on fat Americans and Doom 3 in the same review.
- JohnDavis730, on 05/21/2008, -14/+35in my opinion (because i know everyone cares), i think its one of his best

HE... IS... THE PAIN KILLER! - DarthShaun, on 05/21/2008, -0/+14As much as I love GTA IV, I won't rock out with my Glock out anytime soon.
- Wartz, on 05/21/2008, -0/+13Your connection is only has fast as the server you are connecting to. Stop acting like a T3 is some special magic thing.
- actionscripted, on 05/21/2008, -0/+13Agreed. If you're too cheap to support one of the only games a studio has produced that is now available for ~$4...***** you.
- Xander512, on 05/22/2008, -0/+12He's just a poor boy from a poor family!
- YojimboJango, on 05/21/2008, -0/+12Honestly, "If it's on steam I might just get it." was the first thing I thought too.
- yohnstoppable, on 05/21/2008, -0/+12I beat your high score, but I used the "fire one out in the work bathroom after lunch" cheat
- PizzaPops, on 05/22/2008, -0/+12Spare him his life from this monstrosity
- BlackKnight6, on 05/21/2008, -5/+17It IS about legal and illegal. Just because the way current technology is and distribution being easy when it comes to software doesn't mean you can download full versions of games for free. When you buy a game, you are mostly paying for the game, not the DVD and associated distribution costs (distro/manu costs are around 7% http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20061221-8479 ... ) Hell, with Steam and other similar services, you are paying for server costs.
Download the damn demo and if you want to see more, buy the damn thing. Like cars, homes, TV's, computers, and so on, you can't take them for free and then decide to pay for if you think it sucks or not. Games are IP and you should have to pay for the full version.
And don't give me crap about it doesn't cost them anything. If you are playing the full version of a game and pirated it, you stole the game and SHOULD be paying for it. It not about whether or not you are a "lost sale" or not. Whether or not you like the game does not determine the price or if you have the pay. The fact is you HAVE the FULL game and there WAS NO SALE, it was stolen. - dansmeek, on 05/22/2008, -0/+12I'm just a poor boy, nobody likes me.
- yohnstoppable, on 05/21/2008, -2/+14I agree on fun over realism. No More Heroes is a great example of how badass a game can get when a dev says "***** it, I'm ***** adding this in, because it sounds fun.".
- Terr01, on 05/21/2008, -0/+11Psychonauts. NOW!
- MacTyler, on 05/21/2008, -0/+11Oh god not again.
- stopple, on 05/21/2008, -2/+13Did you mean: shurikens and lightning ?
- Borgcube, on 05/21/2008, -1/+11Well said, I had to wait for 10 minutes just for the page to load and I can't even start the video. 28 diggs already and I don't think anyone even saw it
- brstilson, on 05/21/2008, -0/+10Because a lot of people enjoy them?
