Previous GTAs actually had purpose (buying safehouses across the city and building your empire) - GTA 4 seems to have literally nothing to offer. Its a motivation killer in terms of doing the storyline missions.
I'm not going to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on just guns, and the most expensive clothing item is a $1000 suit. - JohnP, on 05/14/2008, -2/+60The engine and world design are amazing once you turn up the gamma and learn to avoid anything made of wood. They just need to find better ways to structure missions and earn respect.

Do I have mutant fingers or something? I know the 360 ones are better, but the PS3 ones are more than serviceable enough to drive cars and shoot people in GTA IV.

And what is the best game ever made? Half life? Call of duty 4? Eve online? Starcraft? Baldur's gate? Beyond good and evil? Lemmings? Grim Fandago? Knights of the old republic?System Shock? Total war? X-com? Fallout? Portal? Civilization? Max Payne? Company of heroes? X3? Final Fantasy? Bioshock? What is the best game ever? Hell, what is a clearly better game than gta 4?
Dont get me wrong, i thought bioshock was extremely overrated but as time passes by, i realise that bioshock was actually a lot better than i thought when i compare to every other damn game that i recently played. Perfection isnt possible but being the "best" doesnt require perfection, it only requires to be better than the rest. And gta4 is certainly up there with around a dozen other games, fighting for the best game ever title.
Of course no game can really be considered the best, since there are different genres, difficulty settings and people have different tastes but still. - AWBoy666, on 05/14/2008, -18/+61I really disagree. I have found the storyline in GTA4 to be astoundingly good. The gameplay itself can get repetitive and some aspects of the game are a little ridiculous (the trees and being forced into the mini-games from time to time) but the characters and story that are built is absolutely top notch. I haven't been this involved in the story of a game since HL 1 and Halo.
