- BlueScreenOD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22There was a map that came with the original game!? I remember sitting there as a kid trying to light every tree on fire and bombing every piece of wall... a map would of made life much easier!
- isthisnametaken, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18just hit "reset" and he'll be back.
- Falc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14i can remember me and my brother getting this game for christmas one year when we were younger. my dad was excited too, he actually sketched on a big sheet of paper the entire map as we were playing it... great times...
of course, he had to do a lot of erasing on that one forest maze section... - lowriderjohn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16i still have the original map sitting in a box in my storage unit with all that same info drawn on it
- litolist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Hah, me too. I have the original Nintendo Power magazine with it.
- PictureMeRollin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11But when you beat the game, all the places and items switch around...where's the 2nd map! :)

- danc4498, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8The first person to mod this image into google maps will be my hero!
- xtmno3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8But remember to hold reset if you decide to power off, so you don't lose your saved games.
- fizgigtiznalkie, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11I believe it was called the Nintendo Fun club and it was only 10 or so pages long, nintendo power didn't come out for another few years
- magiclava, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5wow those wii graphics look dated!
/jk - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7If you're looking for scale...this is a much better map.

- rchtr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Seriously? Digg homepage and everything? I absolutely adore oldschool games, but there are way cooler things out there:

No digg, this isn't news. - Valarauka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Man, that brings back memories...
- litolist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@fizgigtiznalkie
Nintendo Power came out in the summer of 1988. The first issue (free to fans of the Nintendo Fun Club) had a preview of SMB 2. It actually had the second quest's map, not the first.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Nintendo-power1.jpg - contextclouds, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I can remember my mom doing the exact same thing for my brother and I.
Man, thanks for reminding me of that. What a great thing to remember. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Dead link again.
- Coffeedemon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Thats something I look forward to doing when i have kids.
- litolist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5That would be great, with zooming and all. :-)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"There was a map that came with the original game!? I remember sitting there as a kid trying to light every tree on fire and bombing every piece of wall... a map would of made life much easier!"
A map came with it, I think, but if it did, it did NOT have that stuff drawn on it.
So yeah, the only way to find everything was to burn/bomb everything. - Haohmaru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Indeed. You get alot more satisfaction from drawing out your own maps on paper than having the game do it for you.
Well, those days are gone. - Desolite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3where's the map for the version after you beat the first? or if you just type in Zelda as the name?
- lagnut, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5my dad the exact same thing...
- therobd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4*Hums main Zelda overworld theme*
It was a crime that Nintendo didn't put that in Ocarina of Time. That may have been the game's only flaw. - benedictm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3while we're on the subject
http://www.vgmaps.com/Atlas/SuperNES/LegendOfZelda-ALinkToThePast-LightWorld.png
Best! Zelda! Evah! - dep01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's a lot smaller than I remember it being... but maybe that's because I was once so young. I think I've thrown a candle at every single bush ON that map... And put a bomb on every inch of wall...
- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2North west south west through the forest of maze
- Dimensio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Check Gamefaqs. It's what I used (for the overworld -- I eschewed maps for the labrynths so that there would be some challenge) when I couldn't remember where some things were located when I played through the game on my PSP a few months ago.
- sancho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The instruction booklet had a drawn map on the same page that had the intro. It was useful for guessing where some things might be (specifically palaces) but it certainly didn't give away many secrets.
I used it to find a palace (fifth, I think) in the north portion of Hyrule, back when I was a kid. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Gamfaqs has good maps of both quests and also screenshot maps of all the dungeons with all the bomb spots blown and stair paths marked.
http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/nes/data/563433.html - PuyoDead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Or you could just go to GameFAQs, where this map originally came from.
http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/nes/game/563433.html
There ya go, that map, plus every dungeon map including the second quest. No digg effect, either. - bifflarken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This has reaffirmed my intention of downloading this. When I was younger, I was a much bigger fan of Zelda 2 (well, in those days, I was physically a smaller fan, but, you know...), However, I do believe I'll finally beat Zelda 1 with the help of this map.
And not sure if anyone's noticed this, but the map was apparently done by the "Fecal Lord"... correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he make "NESticle"? - lowriderjohn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yeah, i had to draw all the stuff on the map. i bombed every rock and burned every bush figuring out where stuff was.
- VioletArrows, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dammit, now I have to go play it right now, on my NES, with the gold cart. T_T It takes forever to get it working.
- royalwcheese, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Now that is awesome.
- GarrettSD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh the great memories
- rezendes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.duggmirror.com
- PuyoDead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, NESticle. Haven't heard about that in ages. And I can see it being him. Just look at his contribution page on GameFAQs:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/2597.html
TONS of stuff, with most of it being NES maps. - DelMonte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"It was a crime that Nintendo didn't put that in Ocarina of Time. That may have been the game's only flaw."
I suspect that at the time Miyamoto had an overdose of the overworld Zelda theme.
As for the map that came with the game, it was very stylized and had some parts hidden. - kidego365, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Crystalis is the greatest NES game ever, in my opinion.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'd like to see the map(s) for the original Castlevania series too!
- DelMonte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1May I add my 3d interactive version of the map? (doesn't includes items though)
http://homepage.mac.com/qubedstudios/zeldacubed.htm - sephiroth965, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Are there really people on dig who don't know where to find Overworld map?! Also Hot topic just started selling a belt with the map on it.
- juliolarri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1always carry a fairy in one of your bottles :)
