- Stonedonkey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26Only four photos for an unpacking? I am a sad panda.
- NikoKun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Yah I heard about this a while back... but didn't know it came out today till just a little while ago... 5 minutes before the gamestore closed... I drove in and grabed it!
Its pretty cool! Leather hardcover book, cloth map... which I want to frame! XD
Its pretty good, definantly Best guide ever! Worth the $30! - ozroy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13A cloth map?! I would buy it for that. It brings back so many happy memories of my Ultima gaming days.
If only more games did that. Paper falls apart :( - jwasko, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12I think the point is the awesomeness of the way that this one is made, not the fact that it is a guide.
But yes, guides are for pussies. - Cruelapollo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11It would be nice if they didn't rape the back of the guide with their 'previews' and logos.
- DBiz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Just an FYI, added more pics to the set for those that wanted to see what it looked like without any packaging.
:)
And EB/Gamestop sells them. - SoullessDragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Vanguard Saga of Heroes Guild Edition is gonna have a cloth map, just an FYI
I think I'm gonna buy this even though it will be a few months before I own the game or the Wii - jwasko, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8In one of the pictures (added just now), it appears that the back is plain; the logos, etc. are just a paper insert in the packaging.
- NikoKun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6This Prima version is much more complete and detailed than the one sent to me for free from Nintendo power (yes I have both)... I think this CE version is basically the same book as the white paper paperback guide (both done by Prima)... Trust me its more detailed and gives better tips and explainations than the Nintendo one.
I already beat the game, but this new guide will really help with extra items or side quests maybe. lol Mainly I bought it because of the collector edition features.
And to those that said "Pathetic" I don't really see how this is anymore pathetic than anything else collectors might collect. =P - carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7the guides for myst had a similar look and feel, though not as extravagant.
- truadam3000, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10looks pretty nice havent seen a video game guide look that good ever
- fanboydcs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I disagree I like using the guides when I want to get the most out of the game. I like finding every mini game, and finding every heart piece, yes its neat to find them all with out any clues but thats why you shouldn't use the guide until your really stumped or until you have passed though all the puzzles.
- DBiz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Because some people like to get cool things like this?
If you think about it, there wasn't a limited edition Zelda released this time around (As with Wind Waker), like many of the past. This is a way for Prima and Nintendo to offer something limited to Zelda fans who like things like this. - everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5so where do they sell it?
- nights0223, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=832039
- DBiz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I never use guides the first time through, if ever.
The guide was bought because it is a collector's edition and damn cool.
Grow up. - conman16x, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7@ DAaaMan
But it's a Prima guide. That's just as good if not better than an official Nintendo guide as far as I'm concerned. - SirBryce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Too bad I already beat the game without aid. Always better the second time around eh?
- lostalpinist, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5FYI, Amazon.com has it for $19.79.
http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/0761555730 - ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I actually played Morrowind from start to finish with only using the automap. Kept me up late at nights, but once you got the hang of waypoints, signposts, teleport, and levitate, it was easy.
I haven't used a game guide since Final Fantasy VII (and even then I ended up losing it before leaving Midgard....)
BTW, gamefaqs FTW. - Agret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Jolene I advise you buy the guide for the guide if you get lost navigating it
- Klarth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Three days? Wow, can I be your friend?! That's amazing!!! Everyone likes you now!
Digg loves to hear about your FANTASTIC gaming accomplishments! - CousinSal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@imcompa
Just wanted to know if you got a perfect completion in 3 days or if you just beat the main storyline. Most people I know don't use guides for beating the game, it's for all the little stuff afterwards like finding the last of the poes or every piece of heart. No need to say that us perfectionists suck at life. - DBiz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3There's really no index, it just jumps straight into the training, now pictured.
- LavaHot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2even though I've already beaten the game, I want the guide so badly.
- seneyr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow. I'm surprised this isn't something being put out by Nintendo themselves. They used to be pretty big sticklers on publishing the "Official" guide back in the SNES era..
- Denver80203, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The soft cover edition is at best buy for about 20$.
Post-like map.
Very handy! - z.unit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just used my amazon gift certificate to buy this so i definitely don't mind waiting since it's free. I don't think i've bought a game guide since final fantasy 6 which was some independent guide but well written.
- teqonix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Says it ships it 4 to 6 weeks, though. I'm still going to buy it from there as I've already beaten the game and don't really have a use for the content, but saving $10 for the cool factor is always welcome.
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Now that is one smexy guide. I'd settle for a high-res scan of the map, though.
- conman16x, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm completing the game without a guide, but I still plan to buy it as a nice keepsake. You know, for posterity and such.
- Import98, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ugh. I am finishing the 4th dungeon and used gamefaqs 2 times so for for help but would really like this. I am tempted to get it on Amazon to save the $10 but 4-6 weeks? WTF is that all about. If a local EB or GS by me has it, I'll pick it up later for the cool factor alone.
- Jolene, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Oh no index? :( I'm gonna get lost...
- Jolene, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Mind giving us some pictures of the index?
- ironrex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I don't get why anyone would want to buy a fancy guide for this game. I just beat it last night and although I loved it, its a pretty easy game, I don't think you need to be "guided" through it. Anything you didn't get throughout the course of the game can be looked up online easily for free, and your bookshelf is probably already full enough. It's not like its a conversation piece or anything.
- RufusSeptimus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Dugg for causing me to drool
- ilLH, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1It's shiny and you can show off the cloth map? ::shrug::
- ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Wow...this game looks huge.
Should keep me busy on my Gamecube for a long, long, long while. - RufusSeptimus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1That's probably a good idea
- scoobydiesel, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1crap i spent 20 on a different version...i want my money back so i can buy this one
- nights0223, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1When you pre-ordered The Wind Waker you got a free wall scroll though
- Spire3660, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Just added this to my X-mas list. :)
- Jolene, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Guides are for pussies? Haven't played Morrowind* I take it? Go grab Morrowind and then come back and say that. Then, once you know you need the bible. Head over to Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-III-Morrowind-Prophecies/dp/B000BNZMK4/sr=8-2/qid=1165993455/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/103-4722659-8268600?ie=UTF8&s=books
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morrowind - RufusSeptimus, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Did you play OoT???
Granted, for certain games you're right...but The Legend of Zelda series has been known for the guides...
...look at how popular the map for the original was...
lol - Geekbeard, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4Only $30? It's probably synthetic, not leather. For smaller books, a leather version (of bits of leather held together by glue to look as one) is usually around $50, in my experience. For higher quality leather, it's at least $70-$100 (calfskin is quite nice IMHO).
Of course, the price of printing and binding all depends on how much you produce and sell, so I'm probably just talking *****. - Crossmenjeff, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1why can't you just use an online guide for free if you are stuck? why pay an additional 30 dollars towards a game you won't touch in a year?
- Anliz, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1A return of an age of video games where the manual is helpful
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1I did grow up, thats why I don't need a guide.
- TheSevenDuffs, on 10/12/2007, -22/+13Guides are for pussies
- Yurimanna, on 10/12/2007, -10/+0I wonder how many people here were paid to post/comment on this...
