- gadalla, on 10/12/2007, -1/+41This is pretty believable since they're including all these new text chat updates with the spring update.
- P373Y, on 10/12/2007, -5/+27its PHOTOSHOP.
it can be WHATEVER YOU WANT IT TO BE - rewen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21- If you like to juggle, then sure, get a USB keyboard to juggle with your controller. If that's a better option for you, then do it!
- If you can type on a PDA, then you can type on the controller addon. Look at a friggin Motorola Q or Samsung Blackjack. They're easy to type on, I have a Moto Q. I bet it'll be even EASIER to type using the 360 addon. This will go awesome with the Windows Live Messenger update.
- The wireless racing wheel is ***** awesome, as said by every review I've ever come by. The force feedback is only functional while plugged in to the wall (if you wanna go invent some miracle battery get off your ass and do it) and it still has rumble when it's not. It communicates via wireless whether or not it's plugged in and since there are many power outlets closer to where site than where the xbox is, I think it's ***** great!
- No mouse and keyboard option? Do you like ***** up an even playing field? Do you like using a mouse on a couch? Does Sony or nintendo give you a mouse & keyboard option? I know sure as hell wouldn't want to play Halo against people who were using mice because that totally screws over everyone with a controller. And I LIKE using the controller. Half the reason I like it, is because everyone else is using one too! Nobody has better mouse settings than other people, nobody has better mice than other people! It's FAIR. - bonjovisucks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22I hope you realize the irony in your second statement:
"don't buy this one and give them more money - just buy a logitech or MS wireless keyboard." - wageslaven, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19Looks damn awesome to me... when the MSN Messenger integration is delivered, I'd love to just be able to whip-back some responses from the living room. Everyone with smartphone or even a regular clip phone does serious typeing with their thumbs... this could work really great in that capactiy. You wouldnt have to have yet another object to look for, it would already be in your hands.
Its not like you're doing XNA Studio Express development on this keyboard, it would be strickly a game-input or chat-input.
Very super cool solution. Good work MS. - charliekwalker, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16You can just plug in a USB keyboard into your 360....
- nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Iunno, it looks pretty easy to use to me. It's not like ur gunna be typing while shooting or anything, your thumbs should be able to reach all the keys fine, u just have to change ur grip on the controller a tiny bit when typing.
- pathy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Hm..
I'd love if they'd add some speech recognition, that'd be pretty cool for talking to MSN people. - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14I just use a wireless keyboard with the Xbox, works perfectly, and it cost me 5 dollars.
-woodrow, there are already accessories for the 360 that support a mouse. look it up. - mastahack, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I love the addition of such a small keyboard. fits great on the controller and its one more thing off my lap and onto my thumbs. no pun intended.
- hibachipenguins, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11this remind me of the Jaguar controller after you add on that keypad
- contradictator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6...aaaaaand blocked.
- pixelate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4hey man, shut up.... animals suck!
- MalDON, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I have to say, Microsoft makes great mice and keyboards. They are bound to get my money either way.
Nice comment though :p - Silthrim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Couldn't have said it better myself. :)
- MCHampster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Expected cost: $179.
- gwolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3An "Optional" keyboard for your 360 to be used with enhancements to the existing service. Sorry can't see the down-side here at all.
- clesch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4This mock-up looks pretty impressive. I'd take it over a full-sized wireless/usb key on my couch anyway.
- Zero2aHero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well I guess we are all retarded then, because it was officially confirmed. Or does that make you retarded?
- cyrix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Aww come on. I'm not trying to knock this add on. I will admit it's functionality is fantastic. The chance to be able to chat in more than a few games on my console is a great feature.
I was just stating I prefer a larger keyboard. I have fairly big ***** hands, and using mini keyboards is just a hassle for me, I accidentally hit buttons all the time and it just gets frustrating sometimes. - freetyme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I actually wish the Wii would get a keyboard for the Internet channel.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/12316/Connect-a-Mouse-and-Keyboard-to-Your-Xbox-360/
Back from November. - internetcoward, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Its not nearly as big as....
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-23-49-en-70-1xe.html - jlebrech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So I'm having a feeling that Microsoft will be releasing BBC Micro, Commodore 64, Dragon and Sinclair Spectrum games on XBLA soon.
And Zork!! - username9000, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3that will be perfect for a console gamer's needs. I can see this being used for quick messages, MMORPG's and RTS's. Sounds better than having to have a keyboard on your lap and only being able to do one thing at a time. with this you have one thing in your hand. if its real, good stuff.
- razrielle, on 11/01/2007, -1/+3wow, every mac keyboard ive seen is alot more expensive then a regular keyboard
- loveddevol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2F' it,
i'm getting one for the novelty of it. the pad reminds me of my sidekick3, so i'll feel at home ^^
you know, from faking an add on already with my controller. it seems pretty good - rewen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3W00DR0W: Yep, I'm a retard because you're upset that there aren't solutions for using electricity without wires. Good one. A+ for effort.
Regarding PC Shooter ports: People don't buy them expecting to use a mouse and keyboard. That's why they buy *the PC version*. If you keep buying those games for consoles expecting mouse & keyboard compatibility then sorry, grow a brain. Besides I have no problems with the controls on any of these ports, and I know I'm not the only one. Some companies do a good job and some don't. Usually you simply need to get good at the game and obviously that's your downfall right there. I even loved Half-Life for PS2. There are always solutions to making the controls comparable. If you hate gamepads, then don't even bother complaining in a console thread! But then again, I'm the retard, right? (PS look at the digg counts on your posts.)
Oh, and if you think segregating mouse users from gamepad users is a good idea, then you've just cut the number of joinable games in half for everyone. Great job smart ass.
happyscrappy: Get your wheel replaced, it sounds like you have a faulty one as I have none of the problems you just listed. And guess what, I also have the GT force wheel for PS2/PC. I would rate the GT force & the 360 wheel both about the same. Actually.. I'd lean towards the 360 wheel because the pedals don't slip out and all the small things have been a little more fine-tuned. So there you have it, maybe it's just your wheel, or maybe it's just you. Like I said, it's getting rave reviews. But this thread isn't about the wheel anyway.
MS peripherals are above average in my opinion. I've never used a better gamepad and I've never found any wireless products that work so well. It is, however, a shame that they won't open their wireless technology to 3rd parties. - pastafiend, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The green and red keys are clearly 'dig' and 'bury' buttons. ;)
- MalDON, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Do you know how much it would cost to build a computer capable of 360 graphics? And the tv card?
Besides, he does make controllers for pc's
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/gaming/Productlist.aspx?pid=xbox - razrielle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2my phones headphone jack is also the charging port, so no, it dosnt seem retarded
- EricJD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's precisely what it is.
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If you think you're playing WoW with that sucker, you're dreaming.
- rewen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey woah i never said it was legal. and in the end it goes to the same place as if you claimed it under warranty so there's no loss to them.
Anyway i looked at the wheel and i didn't have the GT Force, I had the Driving Force, which is the same thing but with the Dpad and other buttons, plus the lap attachment which came with it.
Since both wheels are made with desk clamps, I don't see why the lap thing is even part of your argument. I mean.. they could make it not lap-usable, but how does that affect anything? - HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1rewen:
It is illegal to buy a product and return another one inside. That's committing fraud. And even if you feel I got a bum wheel, two wrongs don't make a right.
The GT-Force is not made for lap use. So no, my comments don't apply to it.
There is a separate attachment for your lap if you want it. If you want it, you're fooling yourself. You cannot drive a driving game well with a wheel in your bellybutton. Save your money. - mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They invested how much into the awesome voice recognition for Vista? I could see that as being very likely them moving some of that over to the 360 platform.
- leobaby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2the ms one is claimed to have some 20 extra buttons compared to the ps2 one you showed. I think I have to see it before I make a judgment.
- h3ndrix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Try playing a MMO with that *****...
- joser916, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1holly ***** that xbox 360 keyboard controller is bigger than a Atari jaguar controller!!!!!!
lets see how many people would love to be able to use the w-a-s-d keys and plug in usb mouse wile wishing it works for halo 3.... - twodayslate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No more voice messages for me!
- smex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+147 keys? hmm.. I hope the ALT-NUMBER-PAD trick will still work for accessing the rest of the keyboard scancodes
- rewen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1that would be amazing. if they had messenger AND digg.. i'd barely use my PC
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Owning a 360 i cant see it being comfortable for some reason.
- grachi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1my microphone plugs into my controller already...
now what? - rewen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hey genius, there are 2 data pins on each side of the audio jack. 4 data pins + a ground (the audio jack) could be as advanced as USB. Look harder next time.
- NessTheHero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Intellivision comes to mind.
- oneighturbo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2this im buying! even if a browser came i don't want a keyboard hooked up in my living room. when I'm gaming and i need to chat or type in something, its usually a small amount of text. ***** the hardest thing to date is my 128 WEP key.
the design does look a bit off though. put your controller up to the screen, shadows and bevels seem a tad strange. Also try to think about the qwerty being on there and try to place your thumbs in the area of the keys.. ergonomically doesn't feel right. This could be conceptual so..
anyways, not bad. - rewen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it looks easier than my Motorola Q, and i think that works pretty well, so it's only gettin better to me
- wcbzero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The original Dev Kit Used a Mac Keyboard....
And I don't think this is photoshop..... - charlescheese, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have to admit, as a PS3 owner...this makes me jealous. I sure hope Sony copies this. The one thing I really don't like about Sony's interface is how difficult it is to enter text. Their text tool is near impossible to use.
