- bjkrautk, on 02/12/2008, -1/+120Not quite as great as "Netflix getting XBox 360 & PS3 Rentals" would have been, but I'd certainly use the service with my PS3.
- craigmoliver, on 02/12/2008, -1/+76It would be a beautiful thing if this happened. Netflix, you'd be my hero if you did this.
- GunbladeVIII, on 02/12/2008, -4/+73Buried as inaccurate. Title makes it seem like a confirmation, but it's just a story about a survey that indicates that this feature may or may not be coming.
- hrhs556x, on 02/12/2008, -4/+48Nice. Definitly would re-subscribe if this goes through.
BTW...would anyone like to buy my XBOX 360 Betamax.........im sorry HD-DVD add on? - ModemGhost, on 02/12/2008, -0/+39That's what I thought when I first read this headline, too. I keep hoping for a service that does movies AND games through the mail. Hey, Netflix, why not buy out Gamefly, update their service so it doesn't suck, and start mailing games, too?
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -17/+49kind of misleading title, i thought they were getting games
anyway, those who want to rent games and movies from the same place for cheap: http://www.gameznflix.com/ - slightlyoffbeat, on 02/12/2008, -6/+33I love the fact that my system only gets better with time. I hope the quality is decent.
- airiox, on 02/12/2008, -0/+23Now if they could do game rentals I'd be happy.
- theaceoffire, on 02/12/2008, -0/+17Wonder if they keep that "lost in mail no charge" thing going on...
- mdavis, on 02/12/2008, -0/+15At first I was thinking this was going to be an alternative to Gamefly. If Netflix allowed you to rent PS3 and 360 games as well as movies, that would be awesome!
- Kev585, on 02/12/2008, -0/+15First unlimited steaming and now this! A decision such as streaming to the consoles would show Netflix knows how to adapt and be competitive.
- coleki, on 02/12/2008, -0/+14I'd love for this to happen, but I'm not holding my breath yet. The article was so tentatively phrased that I can't call this news.
- exomni, on 02/12/2008, -1/+15OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!
Oh... wait... you mean watching MOVIES on your console?
Never mind. - Ajajadude, on 02/12/2008, -0/+13I checked out their download service the other week and it worked like a charm (only wish their library had a lot more to offer, but I'm sure that'll get better with time). I then started thinking to myself how great it would be if I could use it on my PS3 since that's what's hooked up to my tv.
- britkev1, on 02/12/2008, -5/+17I would restart a subscription if this was the case. I just don't want to watch movies on my PC and this would be a great solution to get it to the TV without having to buy any extra hardware.
- charlescheese, on 02/12/2008, -3/+15This is awesome news. Though the selection and quality of netflix downloads is poor, it is nice to be able to watch something when you're waiting for the blurays to arrive by mail.
- Alphateam, on 02/12/2008, -0/+11Gameznflix sucks. They NEVER send you anything good. They just don't have the stock. 85% of the games in my queue were from the "Available now or short wait" section. And I still got nothing. They kept saying have at least 15 games in your queue. I had 38. Got nothing for a month.
- exomni, on 02/12/2008, -0/+11Gameznflix sucks.
- davidrools, on 02/12/2008, -0/+10I think what they're doing is making the existing Netflix instant viewing available on PS3/Xbox as an application that runs off this $3 disc, not through the dashboard or playstation home screen. so you'll browse titles in the netflix app. as far as pricing, it's probably included in your subscription price. right now it's unlimited instant viewing for plans that start at $10/mo, I think. That's in addition to getting DVD and BD movies by mail, for no extra cost. awesome!
- say592, on 02/12/2008, -0/+10No one cares.
- davidrools, on 02/12/2008, -0/+10netflix doesn't rent adult movies so you must be into different things...march of the penguins maybe?
- JustinHorne, on 02/12/2008, -1/+11Holy crap yes! As a Netflix subscribing Mac user (no movie downloads supported in OS X,) this is FANTASTIC news!
- Buelldozer, on 02/12/2008, -1/+10You didn't read the article did you? Be honest now...because we can tell that you didn't.
- GhostWithToast, on 02/12/2008, -1/+10If it furthers the demise of Blockbuster in any way by enhancing the success of Netflix, I'm doubly for it.
- davidrools, on 02/12/2008, -0/+9The Netflix streaming through Windows/IE is quite good. And when watching from couch-to-tv distance it should be better than DVD, but not as good as HD-DVD/Blu
- Pissoff, on 02/12/2008, -2/+11
You're not getting my credit card info today, gameznflix.com! - akilleen, on 02/12/2008, -0/+8I actually just canceled my gameznflix account. Their website is quite obnoxious, and doesn't work correctly with firefox, to the point where you can't see their full selection with it. When I do use IE, as far as I can tell, they really don't have a very good selection of games or movies. There is really no organization at all. It would be nice if they were at least split up into genre or something. If they made their website not so obnoxious, and a little more user friendly, it would probably be worth getting, however I won't be going back to them until they fix those things.
- keepinithamsta, on 02/12/2008, -0/+7gameznflix sucks. I haven't received a game from them that was released in the previous 6 months. I've been waiting 4 months for Beautiful Katamari, a not that popular game. The cost reflects the quality of service.
Gamefly on the other hand, I haven't waited more than a week from the release date of a game. Even if you get the 2 games a month service, it's still far cheaper than Blockbuster. - Alphateam, on 02/12/2008, -0/+6Gameznflix does suck. I waited a whole month and got not one game. They credited me another month, and like a fool I kept it for another. I picked 2 ***** games just so I could actually play something and they did arrive. AVOID them.
- reiggin, on 02/12/2008, -1/+7A misleading headline on Digg?!? The heck you say!
And, yes, it is misleading because it says "Getting Netflix Rentals." not "Getting Netflix Rentals?" or "May Be Getting Netflix Rentals." It's still a rumor from a blog, not a press release from Netflix. - davidrools, on 02/12/2008, -0/+6I just started my gameznflix subscription this month...and i'm also canceling it this month because it sucks so bad. If only I could get a single game I wanted it would be fine.
- logicalnoise, on 02/12/2008, -0/+5likely because season 1 is out of print and there weren't any decent copies left(same deal with Hercules: the legendary journeys.
- MarsSentinel, on 02/12/2008, -0/+5Earth to NETFLIX: why do you have season 2 of Kung Fu but not season 1? Answer that question and I will send you a tip with my next red envelope(tm) return!
- mrfreeziexp, on 02/12/2008, -1/+6Netflix is a great company. While other companies increase rates for less services, netflix is doing the exact opposite.
- tabledesk, on 02/12/2008, -1/+6Will you trade it for five or six HD-DVD movies?
- aspec, on 02/12/2008, -0/+5Gameznflix is legit. But they're really slow if you don't live in the bible belt. If I sent something out monday, they'd receive thursday and send friday... I might get it on tuesday or wednesday.
- louiedog, on 02/12/2008, -1/+6There is a service that does movies AND games. Unfortunately, it's really really awful. It's called Gameznflix.
- Ajajadude, on 02/12/2008, -1/+6Same here. Renting games from a store like Blockbuster is a massive ripoff and I never liked the idea of subscribing to a service that only rents out games since I normally only play one or two games over the course of 2-4 months. It'd be awesome if Netflix offered gaming rentals as part of a movie package.
- caselogic, on 02/12/2008, -1/+5That is why they also sell used games, it get rid of the product they know they aren't going to use. Just like any other store that has no use for old product.
- Buelldozer, on 02/12/2008, -0/+4This would be 100lbs of pure awesome...which is why it won't happen. If by a miracle it does happen they'll muck it up in some insane way which will make it almost unusable.
- ryansmith18, on 02/12/2008, -0/+4....sort of. Although there is no porn, one of the top 10 movies watched on "Watch It Now" is called "Breasts: A Documentary." Sounds like us netflix subscribers want porn :)
- lintmonkey, on 02/12/2008, -0/+4OP forgot the "?"
And wasted my time. - LaughingDjinn, on 02/12/2008, -0/+4Well from the blog the only cost will be a one time $3 fee for the disk to put in the players to run the service, the current streaming is included in the regular cost if you have the $8.99 plan or higher.
- davidrools, on 02/12/2008, -0/+4the quality of netflix streams depends on your connection speed. so upgrading your connection or turning off other bandwidth using applications might help to an extent. but no, it won't look as good as a bluray disc.
- groberts1980, on 02/12/2008, -0/+4I never use the Netflix streaming service in it's current form. I just can't watch movies on my 17" widescreen computer display, with a 42" 1080p LCD hanging on the wall in my living room. If they do this, I might change my subscription to streaming only! Currently I only watch dvd's and Blu-Ray's sent in the mail.
- say592, on 02/12/2008, -0/+4Another nail in the coffin for Block Buster.
I left Block Buster online when they hiked the price and said I could only swap in store 3x a month. - Kev585, on 02/12/2008, -0/+4Bye Bye Bandwidth!
- Matt174e, on 02/12/2008, -3/+6I WANT GOLDENEYE LIVE GOD DAMN IT!
- jonshipman, on 02/12/2008, -0/+3but they have a USB port... two even....
I'd say damn nintendo for not branching out. - NateTheApe21, on 02/12/2008, -0/+3disc WTF! is this the 80's?
