"um...as for a download link, i really have no idea if and when im going to release it. im leaning towards the no, because i'd have to change alot of ***** and im really lazy...but if i get really bored i might shoot for it. y'all will be the first to know. but yea i just wanted to show u all my leetness. "
Jackass! You can't tease us with that and not do anything about it. Fine, screw it, how about somebody else comes up with this and releases it then? And give us the option to add more ROMS to the main menu too, cause I want my Chrono Trigger. - guyinthechair, on 10/12/2007, -26/+32@ bbhh
He's not handicapped you retard, he's holding the video camera too. - JonDee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6agreed
- barius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6It's just a front-end to his emulators, nice work with the design but the title of this article forces me to mark it inaccurate.
- moock1337, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5this guy sounds wasted or like he hasnt had human interaction in weeks
- wastern, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@GawtMilk
you can buy Wii Remotes at the store, they don't check to see if you own a Wii first. They have been working with the PC for a while now so it isn't out of the question that someone might want to buy one, especially if they are working on something like this
It isn't a Wii off screen, as he demoed the music player, the button for switching between pages didn't turn to a huge + sign, the games he had didn't have the standard Wii interface, it visibly launched an emulator, and he had games that weren't released yet for the VC.
Its just an interface, that's it. Nothing too complex. He made an app that launches full screen, added a bunch of buttons that told the emu app to load up a certain ROM. It isn't rocket science. He never played a Wii game on it and most likely can't. I'm sure that Red Steel in the upper left was just for show.
It would be just as easy to launch your ROMs from the emu as you will have more options and don't have to spend time configuring the interface.
Why do you think he isn't releasing it. He didn't do anything that noteworthy. Photocopied a design and added some scripts to it to launch an app. Wow. - samdu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The summary is inaccurate as well. It's not a review, much less an "in depth" review.
- YellowBook, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4the reason that he's got "one hand" is because he's holding the camera with his other one
- Hrag, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5boo.
- ToastPop, on 04/17/2009, -1/+4It wasn't an actual Wii, it was a computer. The moving of the mouse isn't by actually AIMING the wii-mote, it's by TILTING it, so that's why it is smooth.
- maglob, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6After this vid he probably only had one hand free cause he was so pleased with his work he decided to pleasure himself, seriously come on, its just a 64/nes/snes/sega emulator, we have had these for years. Post back when u have a wii emulator
- calvmari, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4He's been hard working on the WiiOS :-p
- thushan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"...my friend (i asked him) he has a wii i said..."
- Scottish, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Ummm yeah. What did you think you were in for? I guess "Wii OS" is a bit of a misleading title. But it's pretty impressive, even if just a fancy emulator UI.
- bouche, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6dude sounds like someone out of Deliverence.
- Redchannel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yea, exactly. Thats what I'm talking about. The whole story is mis-titled.
- zdiddy85, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@nrfreeziexp
looks like they missed the sarcasm... - Cam_86, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I wish someone would make a wii-like GUI for a moded Xbox(XBMC). Thats where i plan on putting all my 'classic' games.(plays just as well as the wii ones, isnt a rip-off, and i dont need to buy a BS classic controller to get some of the games to work)
- RDRDreg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yea i was going to say I have my computer and myplaystation hooked up to a 42 inch tv now, he just switched it with the touch of a button. DIGGERS are not stupid...Well a small bunch of us anyway!
- NerveBand, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Its called camtasia....How lame.
- MaHaGoN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1steban's link was awesome.
Trust me, it works. - cam0man, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this has nothing to do with wii emulation....he just made a GUI for an emulator that resembles the wii. Nothing is ported from the wii, it's just made to resemble a wii.
It's like if you bought a fiero and made it look like a lambo. You aren't getting closer to turning a 5k car in a 150k car, you're just getting closer to making it look like one. - JonDee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1there is a glovepie script that comes with the latest release called "WiiMouse IR Relative.PIE". For some reason the cursor is a bit jittery with it but it works fine.
- rspeed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Mika Jakson Mooonwakaa!"
- Nobiting, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2The real question is: Wiill It Blend?
- jull1234, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Nice! I'm all for interfaces that make things easy to use from the couch.
- gameguy43, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3i think you guys are missing the point, with computer programs now able to fully recognize the data sent by the wii controller, once someone writes a wii emulator for pc, you can literally just build your own wii. This guy just made a nice little demonstration of where we are with this process so far. no wii emulation, but were getting there.
- chrismrulz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I did a similar thing like 5 years ago to emulate windows xp in javascript.
it mostly used exploits (which microsoft still hasn't fixed today), but it is really cool to open it up on public pc's and put it in fullscreen :P
works on IE6 and IE7 that i've tested:
http://www.freetrafficsite.com/win
or if that doesn't work because the exploits don't load try: http://www.freetrafficsite.com/win/matrix.htm - kapul73, on 12/22/2007, -0/+0interestingly http://ysto.ru
- ICasualty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"He was most likely using the Wii remote with a bluetooth adapter and the cursor was moving akin to the accelerometers."
He said that the blue tooth messes up.
Besides this is a stupid idea...im sorry but just buy a Wii when they become available it will will be alot more fun. - latca, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1How does he play N64 games with the Wiimote?
- JonDee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I've been playing battlefield 2142 with my wiimote for months. This is nothing new.
addendum: there have been pointing devices that are IR relative for computers for a long time also. - handler, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Awesome work, I'm impressed.
- projecteden, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Great design! Now we just need some Wii mod community members to get ahold of the source code to get this train rolling!
- dabomb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1he had Chrono Trigger on it and I'm sure you can pick what you want on it
- flosty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0How was he holding the camera?
He didn't have a free hand was what he meant. - Redchannel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yea, this is ***** lame.
- gridman2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Holy crap its super mario!
- Wytefang, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2No thanks, we'd rather use non-gimmicky controllers and not look like Wii-tards. Lame.
- Redchannel, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1He was most likely using the Wii remote with a bluetooth adapter and the cursor was moving akin to the accelerometers.
- anthonywr, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2whats this one hand talk? Sure he says he cant play mario becuase he only has one hand, but later he says he cant becuase hes also holding the camera.
one hand for remote, the other hand for camera. dont people put 2 and 2 together anymore? -
