- Sk8SkaNJ, on 02/12/2008, -20/+567What idiot would actually believe they're going to release a new xbox that soon? The idea of writing this article is too soon.
- Sabin, on 02/12/2008, -21/+264If MS keeps going on a 4 year cycle they are going to piss off a lot of consumers.
- doshindude, on 02/12/2008, -88/+308I still say the 360 is more fun than the PS3....yeah go for it bury me for not saying the PS3 is God...that seems to be the latest fad.
- Dgen_X, on 02/12/2008, -1/+150Breaking news: MS has been working on the next xbox since the 360 was released
- piratearggghhh, on 02/12/2008, -2/+146This article should be titled: "My Premature Assumptions: Baseless Opinions about Microsoft's Next Console"
- chingy1788, on 02/12/2008, -5/+103I reckon they should release a revised Xbox 360
slimmer maybe, better cooling, less hardware problems, more energy efficient
Sony and Nintendo has done so with their hand helds, sony has done it with their PS1 and PS2 as well, also Nintendo did it to their NES - badassninja, on 02/12/2008, -26/+107I just dropped $2000.00 in a self made PC and will most likely buy another one in 5-7. Point is... I'm a retard... oh I mean at lest following the Xbox market cost less then the PC, even at every 4 years. And if some retard comes in and informs me that I could have gotten just as much horse power with a $500 PS3 I'm going to flame them, because my PC makes your PS3 it's bitch.
- MyNamesTaken, on 02/12/2008, -1/+76Of course MS are planning the successor for the 360, it doesn't mean it will be released any time soon. I expect MS have planned what they are going to do for the next 10 years.
Like most companies, they plan ahead. They don't just decide a month or even 1 year before release that they fancy bringing a new console onto the market. - terminalpariah, on 02/12/2008, -1/+75No. They're all planning their new consoles. These are complicated devices that require years of engineering. And the design has to be finalized in time to get hardware out to the developers, otherwise - no launch titles. Sony's already referencing the PS4 in job postings.
- DarkShroud, on 02/12/2008, -1/+74If MS can hold the 360 for 6 years and make the next model BC with 360 games they could make some real money. But next time I expect a console that won't die on me, have built in wifi, & Blu-ray (I say Blu-ray because it's pretty much won). I'll let the proprietary hard drive issue go if they give us built in wifi instead of this $100 part BS or set up a network bridge.
- worthone, on 02/12/2008, -3/+74"Point is... I'm a retard"
Dugg for facing reality. - MasterThief117, on 02/12/2008, -4/+75Look, Microsoft may do some stupid ***** sometimes (like any other corporation), but even I know they are not this ***** stupid to make a new console this early.
- amrush4th, on 02/12/2008, -28/+96Microsoft is going to find themselves in a very strange place in 2 years. Good luck with that MS.
- bubbakja, on 02/12/2008, -5/+70buried for challenging me to bury you
- tault, on 02/12/2008, -27/+90This article just seems like a bash on MS like sony's ps3 is so powerfull. I thought they said the only perk the ps3 had really on the 360 was it could play blue rays and had more storage space.
- badassninja, on 02/12/2008, -9/+63What part of the word Bitch did you not understand?!
- thedragon4453, on 02/12/2008, -7/+51Honestly, I love my 360. A lot of great games, plus streaming media from my desktop. The streaming media part has basically made the purchase worth it.
- Mearn, on 02/12/2008, -0/+44I can make ***** up too
- mCanada, on 02/12/2008, -2/+45***** I'm still running colecovision!
- DarKnight90, on 02/12/2008, -6/+46Too much like PC gaming.
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -23/+63But you could have gotten just as much horse power with a $500 PS3. o_0
- cgoff, on 02/12/2008, -6/+43Poorly written article. About all I got out of it was Microsoft making crap hardware, being on-par with the PS3 but the PS3 only being 30% utilized at this point. Give me a break. The 360 has spectacular hardware on-par with the PS3 and it came out a full-year prior! Developers absolutely love coding on the 360, and were able to take advantage of it early on. Sure, they've got some issues (heat, etc.), but for a company still coming out of the gate as far as consoles are concerned they are doing very well.
Also I've got a news flash for the editor: Sony has been working on the PS4 since the PS3 was released, and Nintendo is already designing the successor to the Wii. Duh. They don't magically get designed two weeks before E3. - kanuk20, on 02/12/2008, -1/+38MS said maybe 2011, why is this coming up now?
- Fokma, on 02/12/2008, -3/+36Well microsoft did release the 360 4 years after the Xbox. 2 years from now would be the same timing if they keep up that schedule.
But i do agree with you. It is too soon to even be writting this article. - theaceoffire, on 02/12/2008, -1/+34Neither would I, if you could play your $60 doller older gen games on it.
- norman619, on 02/12/2008, -9/+40Yes because they should schedule their product releases around the dates you decide to purchase them....
- DavidGX, on 02/12/2008, -3/+34This is the 360s third year. If you released the next one two years from now that's... five years. That's a perfect life cycle for a console. Buried as inaccurate.
- theaceoffire, on 02/12/2008, -5/+35Only perk the wii has is that its fun to play and cheap.
Only perk the 360 has is that it has lots of games and good online play. - dvsbastard, on 02/12/2008, -3/+33I am yet to buy into the current generation of gaming, but I will be picking up a new console very soon and as far as my experience (and opinions) go, I am still leaning towards the 360. The only thing that is making me consider a PS3 is the latest developments with the HD format wars...
Although I am still undecided, not everyone jumps around for the flavour of the month... - razor150, on 02/12/2008, -3/+31The guy who wrote the article is an idiot. Did you know Sony is also working on the next Playstation right now? OMG, PS4 is coming out next year! It's called R&D, and that starts right as the current console launches. MS working on the next Xbox says nothing about whether or not the 360 is going to be replaced soon.
- WindWithMe, on 02/12/2008, -1/+29Buried for buying Alienware.
- djruden, on 02/12/2008, -0/+26It should be noted that all instances of the Nintendo Gameboy was backwards compatible all the way thru the GBA SP. And the DS has a gameboy cart slot that can play GBA games. Also the Wii can play Gamecube games. Nintendo is coming around to BC.
I read that they never put NES compatibility into the SNES because it would add $100 to the cost which was just too much back then. And now look at Sony and the PS3 taking it out because of cost. Seems like your 'nice thing about the PS' is turning into a nice thing about Nintendo and not so much about the PS anymore... - chrisreynolds, on 02/12/2008, -1/+26Moms and grandmas already get Playstation, Wii and Xbox mixed up. Good luck with your system on birthdays and christmas.
"ahh mom I told you I have a 2.1 not a 2.5." - latova, on 02/12/2008, -0/+24The xbox 404?
- Rapter09, on 02/12/2008, -0/+24I have to say, that's the first time I've seen feasible spelled with a 'ph'
- aussieNickuss, on 02/12/2008, -5/+29Not shipping an HD drive wasn't the only thing that Microsoft did wrong with the 360. They also royally screwed up the hardware design resulting in these massive failure rates.
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -19/+41When Apple releases new hardware every year, they get praised. When MS releases a new Xbox after a few years, it's too soon.
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -0/+20I thought you were kidding until I saw you listing the downsides/upsides. That is a terrible idea.
- Scynet, on 02/12/2008, -4/+24What is it with the exaggerated prices for PCs? You can buy a high-end PC capable of playing all new games on high detail settings for less than 1200 $. Considering most folks need a PC anyway to browse the Internet, it's not much more expensive than a console and their expensive games. There are valid arguments against PC, such as it being more complicated, but price is hardly one of them.
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -15/+35Yeah my 360 is a whole lot of fun. Got RRoD in January and the refurb's disc drive crapped out 3 days after receiving it. The fun never ends.
- djruden, on 02/12/2008, -1/+21I got a 360. Never had a system from the last gen as I was a broke college kid then. But I really like the 360's online system for playing with friends over xbox live. And I could care less about Blu-ray as I have no plans in buying a whole new movie collection in a different format. 360 lets me rent HD movies I can just stream over the net. A lot of the xbla games are a blast too.
- NoCt1, on 02/12/2008, -0/+18Think about it. The 360 is going for what 449 for an elite.. I think dont quote me.. So i buy an elite right now.. for 449.. Then next year the new elite comes out for 449.. then a new one.. Prices would not go down. they would in turn stay the same or rise. They have to continue to add something to it that would keep the price where its at. That is the dumbest idea i have ever heard from anyone. sotopheavy, You sir have Failed. Also who is going to buy a new console every year... Not the average consumer which is what the target market is.
- SuperVepr308, on 02/12/2008, -1/+19The PS3 guys just can't stand it. We 360 owners have been running outstanding ***** games and playing online for years now while they sit around and wait. I have no idea why they have such loyalty to Sony after they have been screwed so many times. Whatever...to each his own...
- Ajajadude, on 02/12/2008, -1/+18iPods are a whole other category of electronics. And comparing console redesigns with rolling out a brand new console isn't that great, either.
- slicecom, on 02/12/2008, -0/+17No. PS3's failure rate isn't bad by any means, but Gamecube and Wii both kill it in reliability. Nintendo always build their systems like tanks.
- wattersm, on 02/12/2008, -1/+18What, the back seat of a volkswagen?
- DavidGX, on 02/12/2008, -4/+21Yeah, so the 360 could have cost $600 at launch. Screw that.
- DarkShroud, on 02/12/2008, -1/+17Yet you did.
- norman619, on 02/12/2008, -0/+16This is a game console you are talking about. Games should be the first thing you should be looking at not the HD format it's using. The HD format should be secondary.
- candafilm, on 02/12/2008, -0/+15On top of that, I'd be surprised if we see $400+ consoles the next go around. Blu Ray will have long been declared the winner and the player prices will have dropped.
They would have to implement some serious hardware to warrant a higher price tag than $400 (probably even 300). The games however are going to be a different story I think. -
