- burkewendt, on 10/12/2007, -4/+26There's nothing Excite-ing about this update. Did you catch that one? Did you see what i did there??...... ahhhh i hate my life
- gorygreen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Did anyone notice, this is the first week that the VC Releases didnt hit the gaming front page by early afternoon.
- defectDS, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Why not? It's one story in the hundreds (almost thousands) we get every week on the front page. It's nice to have a weekly update so close to home, no? Ignore it if you don't care, please.
- xBBx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5That's because Nintendo didn't release an official press release in the morning, they released it at around 2PM
- randranc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I could see buying Excitebike and some beers this weekend. SO far Mrio Kart 64 has been my favorite VC game.
- gage006, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7I actually like this hitting it every week. Easier than me loading up the shop and checking every week. If Nintendo sent me an email every week about it that would be even better.
- airwalkery2k, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I am still waiting for Punch-out or Duck Hunt.
- DragonQuester, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4When is Star Fox 64 coming out!? Thats what I'm saving my points for. I was hoping it would be this week!
- Dustyb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4For those considering buying Excite Bike just spend $15 more and grab Animal crossing, if you can find it it has Excite Bike, Balloon Fight, Pinball, and quite a few other NES games.
- xBBx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nope, I think everyone wants Chrono Trigger
- treachen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I would have to agree. Remember when they started releasing VC games and it was exciting every Monday? Now I barely remember to check what new releases are on-line and just notice it on digg. I need more games to keep up the excitement, my wii points are burning a hole in my pocket with these games I wouldn't pay a dollar for.
- bking, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The teaser in that magazine was for "next month's" issue. I wouldn't throw in the towel on NiGHTS jut yet.
- mikeisme77, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7Beyond Oasis was a decent Genesis RPG if it's what I think it is... And Excite Bike (which also came out) is a classic (although I'm not a huge fan of it).
- morrislevy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5w00t for Excite Bike. Just bought it. What a blast from the past. I was originally quite pissed when I only saw 2 games as well. Thanks Reggie! >_
- goodbeershow, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8You do have a n64 that you emulate too, Nintendo. 2 boring weeks in a row.
- xobecide, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2But that's what you said last time?
- tange1, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6Did you even read the article? Exicte Bike, Splatterhouse and Beyond Oasis
- subarusqueege, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7Sound of balloon deflating ...........
- crossmr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1certain titles are being held back to be released with new titles. I'm sure metroid is one of those. But there are tons of other titles they could be releasing and releasing much faster.
- superterran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't see why Nintendo is having such a problem getting all the first party titles out the gate. Where's my Metroid, god damnit? And there are a few games Nintendo just needs to hurry up and get ported... I want to play Earthbound again!
- GreyICE, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Y'know, Nintendo really can't win this one. If they focused on the big names (which are a pain in the ass to get licensing rights for, among other things), they'd be ripped for ignoring the little classics. We all have this or that old game that we'd love to see but frankly wasn't all that popular. If they choose to release some big ones, some smaller ones that they still consider quality titles, people rip them for not releasing exactly what they want NOW NOW NOW. Probably if they released the entire library of all the consoles right now, people would complain that it takes too long to browse through all the games.
I think they're doing a decent job. No, there's not a new game I want to buy every week, or something like that. But who plays a game a week anyway? - echonull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@treachen
Your loss, buddy. The game plays better with a classic controller than it did on my actual TG-16. Having access to both the full-turbo and non-turbo versions of each button without having to twist an index finger around to hit the "how turbo" switch makes it a much better game. - codohundo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Am I the only one that wants chronotrigger?
- nipterink, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2considering it's the same guy every week, i'm guessing he likes the feeling of having an article he submits continue to hit the front page.
- crossmr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@bluetrust
Actually they don't "need" to. ESRB ratings are not a requirement, just a good idea so that the government doesn't get the mind to come in and legislate it as a "need". If that is the real issue then nintendo didn't plan too well and they should have been submitting games for the last year getting them rated and ready. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4***** = games you never played. Get your head out of your ass.
- Folye, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Ah well, and I was really hoping for some real quality games from Nintendo this week... I suppose that Microsoft will be getting my money then for Castlevania: Symphony of the Night...
- metalgod79, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Buried as inaccurate for comparing Mike Myers to the character from Splatterhouse! Not
Even Close buddy. - crossmr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2They need to pick up the pace here. We know the vast majority of games (as in all) are sitting as roms online somewhere. This should be a piece of cake for them to implement. They need to be doing somewhere in the neighbourhood of 7-10 a week. There are thousands of games for all the systems they want to emulate. Lots of them, hundreds are favourites, if not more. There are rumours about more systems. Playing the numbers there it could be years before you see the game you really want on VC. Like say Super Mario Bros 3, or Phantasy Star IV (for chirsts sake, I'd pay $15 for that if they released it today). At this point they should have an idea of what kind of load the system can handle so they should just start adding titles to it as quickly as they think it can take it. Everyone has a favourite, and the only way they're going to cater to the needs of the customer is to start making massive portions of the catalogues available. If the system can only handle 3-4 new games a week, they need to seriously upgrade the system.
its fine if they want to keep a few big titles back to coincide with major releases (i.e. SM3 and the new SM game coming out) but just get over it already. Dragging it out is only going to kill the interest. - extratwice, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5VC, still a complete ripoff.
- treachen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Well I downloaded bonk's adventure when that was an early release.. I played for about 2 mins then erased it.
- bluetrust, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Older games need to be rated for age appropriateness (i.e., E for Everyone.) I understand it takes some time.
- bluewraith55, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3for the last month or so i've been threatening to kill the first person that crosses my path if i didnt see super mario rpg or kirby superstar in the weekly vc releases. so help me god if they cant even release a decent game NEXT week... i'll do it this time!
- Import98, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1So much for that BIG NiGHTS surprise and the shocking existence of Saturn games (What I was hoping for). Will probably pick up Castlevania on Xbox Arcade though.
- terribly1, on 10/12/2007, -9/+6I used to get excited about these.
Now I just wait for homebrew... - dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5Well, Splatterhouse certainly isn't a "kiddie" game, so it's good to see it up there.
- jermo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1thanks for enlightening us on his ultimate dreams and aspirations.
- bonjovisucks, on 10/12/2007, -9/+5I'm sick of the ***** releases each and every week on the U.S. VC market.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0jump super stars 29.90
http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-5vmf-71-i8-49-zh-84-j-70-eud.html - Okari, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4I've started forgetting all about the VC.
- Mrdiggers, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3I don't understand why people keep digging up the new VC games. Yes we all love our Wii and we like being able to play old games we love on them, but is this really news that should be on the front page of digg? I hope if you love VC so much that by now you will be able to look up the new games coming out. I don't see people digging up new movies coming to DVD this week.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4Why do we need these articles to be posted every week?
Same goes for the stupid vgcharts articles... - xBBx, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1*UPDATE* Nintendo finally got around and sent out their press release for VC. Excitebike has also been added... whooptie friggin doo...
- mtvkilledusall, on 10/12/2007, -14/+5Only 2? =/
- cam0man, on 10/12/2007, -12/+2word.
- cam0man, on 10/12/2007, -33/+11I hate to scam the reply system.....
but, why the hell is this front page news EVERY WEEK!?!? We can all check the new VC releases, this really is ridiculous to see on the front page each week. Maybe when there's something groundbreaking it might be worth of it, but this is just regular information. You don't see 'NEW MOVIES COMING OUT THIS WEEK ON DVD, LOLOLOLOL FRONT PAGE STORY'. Seems a little crazy to have this be on the front page when we don't get these weekly updates for anything else. Lets save interesting content for the top stories....
