Super Mario World, it's a blast from the past
Super Mario World, it's a blast!
Now lets just get SMB3 on there and we will be set. - stubadub, on 10/12/2007, -3/+29Yes.
- dagamer34, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17This isn't Microsoft, thankfully. $1.00 = 100 points.
Only problem is that you can only by points in denominations of $10, $20, $50, and $100. I bought 1000 Wii points, bought Super Mario Bros., and have 500 points left but nothing interesting to spend it on. Why Nintendo won't let me spend $5.00 on 500 points is beyond me, as that'd be perfect! - Gundabad, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Yeah seriously, there has been a lot of public outcry over how Nintendo is holding back its all-star titles, but I've been really impressed so far! We have two major Zelda games, three major Mario games, Mario Kart 64. The Wii isn't even three months old, and there is already quite a handful of blockbusters, plus you've got games about to be released such as Donkey Kong Country as mentioned above, but also the original Metroid. Obviously Nintendo could just pump them all out in a very short time, but they are doing something monetarily smart for them, while not starving any gamer's appetite. This averages out to be a huge title every other week, plus you've got third parties throwing in huge titles on par with current releases such as Castlevania, Sonic, Toejam & Earl, Gunstar Heroes to fill in those off-weeks
- PiratedTVPro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12I don't think we'll see Super Mario All*Stars until Nintendo has successfully milked Mario Bros 1, 2 & 3 for all they're worth. Once All*Stars hits the scene the download rate on those three is going to drop dramatically.
- grahamcase, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12I'm waiting for Uniracers. I may be waiting for a long time...
- xBBx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Haha....great reminder of the good old Super Mario World show. But it can't beat...The Super Mario Brothers Super Show!
"Swing your arms, from side to side
C'mon it's time to go, do the Mario!" - bpapa, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11VC has been looking pretty good so far, Mario Kart 64 last week, SMW this week, and supposedly Donkey Kong Country very soon as well.
I actually haven't gotten a VC game since Super Mario Bros, I might get Donkey Kong Country though. - vdubski, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I actually like reading it on digg, then I don't have to bother turning on the Wii just to see what games came out every Monday.
- ryansebiz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Anybody still complaining about the VC needs a nice big glass of shut the hell up.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10If you have a plasma tv be careful. I got A Link to the Past when it was released, and after playing it for an hour or two I noticed the HUD burned in slightly on my display. Not happy about that.
- afex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7fyi that doesn't actually 'fix' it, you're just burning the rest of your screen equally, and if you do this enough times your tv will lose brightness : (
i admit this is a horrible example, but just to make my point...its like if you got a chunk of mud on your car and then 'cleaned' it by smearing mud all over it so you couldn't see the original chunk of mud.
unfortunately i dont have a better method of fixing burn in, and i'm not trying to be captain bringdown, i just don't want a bunch of people with plasmas doing this every night in hopes of fixing it : ) - juicebag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6RELEASE KIRBY SUPERSTAR ALREADY!!!
- ldkronos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Myself, I never had a SNES either. I went with the Genesis in those days (as did all my friends) and was thoroughly satisfied. I didn't feel I was missing out on anything special.
My first time playing a SNES was just a couple years ago (a few years after I got married). In the processes of cleaning up in the basement, I decided to take a look through my wife's SNES collection. When I saw she had Super Metroid, I figured I had to give it a try. Awesome game. I then tried Super Mario World, and Zelda: Link to the Past.
Its kind of odd. All 3 of those (especially Zelda/Metroid) were probably my favorite games on the SNES. Yet somehow I got caught up on the Genesis and didn't really care much for anything I saw on the SNES. Now that I've gone back and caught up a bit, theres more interesting games I missed on the SNES than I can remember really enjoying for the Genesis. In retrospect, I feel like I picked the wrong system. At least my wife picked differently, so it all worked out in the end. - sam10685, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9hopefully the SNES version of SMB3.
- MioTheGreat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6You can get it, yes. But for less? No. The collector's edition with Majora's Mask and OoT are going for well over $50 on ebay, and the other disk, the one that contains OoT and the Master Quest, is still running pretty high, higher than the games will be on VC.
- zer0_sleep, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I am still waiting for Kid Icarus and Earthbound then I can die happy.
- h4rdcor3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7100 points = 1 dollar
- trib4lmaniac, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Hopefully this means it will be out in the UK soon.
- maybeway36, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I got All-Stars on my SNES and it is da bomb. Well, actually it's da four bombs.
- ldkronos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"Its kind of odd. All 3 of those (especially Zelda/Metroid) were probably my favorite games on the SNES."
Ooops. Meant to say they were may favorite games on the NES, though what I actually said is also true. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8You could go get the GameCube edition of it for probably less... and it includes the Master Quest.
- celestial, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5SMW will be my first VC buy,
I never had a super nintendo,
i just had nes and genesis - sacherjj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You can buy 2000 point card for $20. So it works out to 1 cent per point. Wow, looks like everyone responded... The reason they don't want the points to work out evenly, is so you buy more points to use up the points you have. Makes sense to me, marketing wise.
- PseudoThink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Super Mario World was my first VC purchase as well...and honestly it left me feeling rather gypped. I'm not a big fan of being forced to buy 1000 points so I can buy an 800 point game. Also not a big fan of the ambiguous wording of the "this game might be optimized for the classic controller" that shows on the Wii VC shopping channel, but is later changed to "this game requires the Classic controller" upon loading the game. Yeah, the nice Gamecube wavebirds I purchased in favor the the Classic controller (which I'm not a big fan of) are basically useless for Super Mario World, since Nintendo did not make it possible to remap the buttons, so the differing button configuration on the GC controller basically makes it impossible to comfortably hold down the "run" button all the time, like everyone does for SMW. Make sure you realize this before you buy it...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Why would you buy Japanese Wiimotes? Are they cheaper?
- prockcore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That's why you're not supposed to play video games on a plasma tv.
- zlintux, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I'm just hoping Paper Boy will come out...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6SMB All Stars is so great... 16 bit versions of the original NES games are far superior to the originals. Plus you get Lost Worlds!
- gotjukies, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Unicycles + awesome soundtrack = one of my favorite SNES games
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Wow... I feel bad for you. The Super Nintendo Entertainment System was an important part of my childhood. Well, I just hope that this isn't the first time you have played SMW because that's even worse!
- Guagloves, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I emailed nintendo about that a couple weeks ago and they said that they should work with U.S. systems.
you can email them if u want to make sure or contact playasia.com - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3DOCTOR MARIO DAMMIT
- Heiliger, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5All-Stars had minor collision edits and other non-graphical "fixes" that left me still enjoying the originals more. One that always stuck out to me was no longer being able to running-leap successfully over a Pirana Plant pipe in SMB All-Stars... anyone going for completion speed will know what I'm talking about!
I DID appreciate the ability to play JP's SMB 2 in the states though! - dxprog, on 10/12/2007, -2/+51 point = 1 cent. You can buy them in packs of 1000 ($10), 2000 ($20), and 5000 ($50).
- r3m1x, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Wii points are dollar figures without the decimal (ie 2000 Wii Points = $20.00).
- ZennZero, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5It's about freaking time. Japan has had SMW for months.
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I'm all about SMW, but why must you deny me my Kirby, Nintendo? Why?!
- iamjero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2baseball stars.
- seanthebond, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3But this is frigin Super Mario World!
- KnockoutNerd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I 100% agree with you I need a Chrono Trigger without horrible load times like the port on the PS1 and also where is Super Mario RPG like the 2nd best game on the SNES after Chrono Trigger
- Anth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ah *****, I just beat Link to the Past, now I'm going to spend two weeks playing SMW. I had just got into Gears of War too (on my 360).
- bigdsinferno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2if you experience any lag on gaming, that's typically due to the tv itself.
I've heard of quite a few HD tv's that this happens on. - dohidied, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Man, I forgot how much fun Super Mario World was. This is still my favorite Mario game ever made.
- EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hmm, I'd actually like to see that as a full blown Wii title. It'd be awesome to actually be able to "throw" the paper.
- Heiliger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow... didn't realize that... I was hoping to always get by with our GC controllers, rather than buy $20 Wii-branded SNES controllers ;-)
thanks for pointing that out, PT! Boo, hiss, big-N. - merkul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2SMW was such an important part of my childhood that its release on VC validates my purchase of a Wii alone. Thank you Nintendo, me love you long time.
- gallagherFTW, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2i agree to the nth degree. however, these VC releases lately have been getting better. game drought = good times for VC :)
- maybeway36, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Now that I think of it, Nintendo could split Super Mario All-Stars in four and sell the games separately, assuming they still have the source code.
- KnockoutNerd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1haha I just bought it I'm having so much fond memories come back
