dugmirror http://duggmirror.com/gaming_news/Video_The_lost_version_of_Final_Fantasy_1_on_a_Microsoft_console/ - fuze44, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Looks like the site was hosted on an original NES since it's down after 44 diggs.
- mccarron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Wow I never knew Microsoft (Microsoft Japan actually) was behind the MSX computer line. Learn something new everyday.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSX - therodersabides, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Wow. I guess it took eleven Final Fantasys to get is back on one of their systems.
- Segitz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The MSX was NOT a Microsoft console. It was solely endorsed by them, nothing else... It wasnt even often seen in the US...
Even Sony produced them!

Well... I'll... be... damned!
This version sounds great, however I can't stand the jerky scrolling. - Icklehamsta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It looks beautiful and simple. I love old games ^_^
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Uh, dude, that's the Final Fantasy Prelude. It's in every Final Fantasy game that i've played, even if it's not in the intro itself. FF6, for example, has it at the very end, after the ending theme, if I remember correctly.
Granted, it could just be my mind playing tricks on me. - djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If I'm not mistaken, the MSX was also released in Europe. Not sure how many of these games made it out over there, though (I know FInal Fantasy did not).
- gemlarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Is a one leg gerbil on a cogwheel in control of the scrolling abilities of that system?
- ohearn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Also the NES version did not finish implementing the special features of many of the weapons (Ice, Fire, Were, Giant, and Dragon swords did not do the extra damage against their chosen type of creature correctly), but the remake of the game did finish implementing these features.
- mem7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wish I had a source to quote. But I read in several places that all the code exists in the original for elemental damage, they just basically forgot to turn it on.

- ShadowMarth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dang! Same here, I had absolutely no idea that Microsoft had anything to do with the MSX... So how does it work, then, that the Virtual Console will get MSX games?
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1FF6 has it right in the beginning, on the Load/Continue screen.
- fuzzynyanko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Woot! The victory song has a cowbell.
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The MSX also exclusively had the real sequel to Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.
The existence of the MSX kinda proves that Japan really isn't ethnophobic when it comes to technology. Then again, they've always loved Apple products even to this day.
The problem with the MSX is that it was exclusive to japan, so any ROMS found would need a translation patch in order for anyone in English regions to enjoy them. - Numbski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.vgmuseum.com/end/msx2/a/ff.htm
Now who has the rom? :D - markdr123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Those were the days.
*reminisces* - Opelious, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Man, if the XBLA gets this, and it runs just the same, then boo to that. I'll take the original or the remake (be it from the PSX or the GBA), but that was MSX2 was really bad.
- atarix64, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Cached version here: http://www.gnull.com/sites/1168293543_33241/
- crgnetworks, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1stupid blog is down :-(
- s3l1n4, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I can't believe it has that intro music, I guess they kept it the same right until VII! Always hated that music *_*. I've seen (and played) FFV and it looks quite similar :D
