heh I wish. Probably Half Life 2. Xbox Live Arcade is a great platform for them to sell their episodic content. - Obsydian, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15Either way, it'll take them 6 months for them to announce the game, then 5 years to actually release it. With lots of glitches.
That doesn't mean I'm not happy with this announcement, it's just the god honest truth. - Qdub, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13At least Valve can't make you use Steam on the 360...
- DarkEnder, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Half-Life 2 was already ported to the Xbox.
- thestorey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7indeed my friend indeed
- jumpertk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6god if somehow they try to place steam on the 360 like Square Enix put play online with Final Fantasy XI it will drive me insane. If they somehow allow for mouse and keyboard that would rock but I find myself not having that much trouble with the controller, Calld of Duty 2 for the 360 is prolly the best FPS controls on a console ever
- antipro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4yeah my bad. I have a 360 but dont have Live yet. So I didnt really know there was a difference.
thanks for letting me down easy though instead of going all FLAME ON. - Avogadro65, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think he's speaking in terms of success or how many people play it, not the actual gameplay. It's pretty clear to anyone that's played both how different the styles of the two games are.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3well im glad you have that inside knowledge.
- darkgmr, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6i would like to see this happen... i just dont think it ever will.
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Team Fortress 2?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4it may take them 5 years, but there will be NO glitches. it will be a completely polished game.
- Hollister, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The 360's OS already supports keyboard input for chat and Final Fantasy XI
- Daryl209, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4And how much better Half Life 2 is than Halo.
And while we're on it, why even mention such an inferior game> - Obsydian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3He's right. All XBLA games have to be under a 50 MB requirement.
- furtwan1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3it wont be on XBLA because they want all XBLA games to fit on a memory unit. However, they can still sell episodic content on marketplace (like oblivion)
- Rigbymatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2this is valve we are talking about here.
they make REALLY amazing games but it takes them a REALLY long time - AngryPenguin47, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2excellent game, I would like to see them spending their time porting to Linux though.....
- Deemo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It would be nice if they made something brand new. Valve is definetely one of the best game developing companies out there, and if they did something other than Halflife, I think they could do an excellent job.
- Obsydian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Notice how the flamers get modded down so easily. It's much better to offer respect then to just be a dick. Also, Salmon, There is only a 50 MB limit for XBLA games, not general marketplace content.
- BassCadet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This is big news for 360.
Day by day, things look better for Nintendo and Microsoft and worse for Sony. - tmcleroy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4i don't mean to be jerk, but i think they should stay focused on the pc market, where they already have a huge customer base.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Im sure it didnt look like HL2 on the computer...xbox 1 hardware can not do source justice.
- Jangles, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I doubt it is anything new unless they plan for something way down the line. They are still very active with HL2 it seems.
- darkgmr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I agree. That would ROCK!
- inactive, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1Ew, that sounds just gross.
- Karisson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, the Xbox port had some framerate problems, but honestly I was impressed that they even got the game to run on a console far less powerful than many computers. Of course, it's just not the same experience as on PC. I own both versions, and the difference is amazing.
- Avogadro65, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm not sure they need to at this time. As long as they allow for mods they way they do, I don't see any problem with it (just remember how Desert Combat led to Battlefield 2)
- matthall28, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4well that suxs... god damn console ports...
- LycoLoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, that's hardly surprising. Considering that in a recent Diggnation they talked about how it really only takes a few pushes of buttons to port from Xbox 360 to PC and vice versa, why wouldn't they? That's pretty much pure profit for them.
- salmonmoose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Isn't the core pack discontinued?
Most people with a 360 will also have the HDD anyhow - even if they don't call it "arcade" there's plenty of stuff on the marketplace that's bigger than 50 megs. - Jyuu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Why do people hate Steam so much?
It's a very convenient way to manage your games, keep them up-to-date, buy new games, it has a unified server browser, has a friends function, etc. - Cerebral, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I hope that if they do release HL2 for the 360 that they do something different with it like FarCry did for the Xbox. Don't touch the original story but possibly follow the girl through her story or something... that would be interesting.
- salmonmoose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My bet is that Vista hooks into Live for games - they already sell the 360 wired controller on the windows hardware page. Looking at how the parental controls work in Vista and on the 360 there are some huge similarities.
It makes sense, and would give Live a huge advantage in the marketplace against the Nintendo and Sony alternatives. - Inthearmor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wonder what Valve could do on the Revolution...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4yeah it was ported to the xbox but it played like crap hopefully it is ported to the 360
- BRi7X, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Revolution or GTFO
- gism82, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yes this is what I'm hoping! i only keep my windows box around for steam..would be sweet to plop a 360 on the desk with a mouse/keyboard/VGA cord and play. but even if they did this....it would probably be a special version, so you wouldn't be able to play with the PC players...but who knows.
- Jangles, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It's called Half-Life 2 not Halo 2. Why would it play like it? I don't understand what you are talking about.
- Baumer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I would like to see all of the C-S Source and DoD Source on the 360. It would be nice to get all those great Multiplayer titles to the console.
- gotamd, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5Why don't you just play it on a computer? I hate playing FPS's on consoles. The keyboard/mouse combo is so much more natural than using a controller.
- Eggman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2It would suck to get CSS or DoD:S on the Xbox 2 cause then xbox people would whine about not being able to play with people that have those games on the computer. But if you could those on xbox would get dominated cause keyboard+mouse > controller any day.
- SpanishBrowne, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Wonderful - by the time they've released a game, the xbox 720 will be out.....
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3What's so bad about Steam?
- jpesicka2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1half-life 2 with multiplayer & counter-strike:source, also, where the ***** is my backwards compatability for counter-strike on the xbox? i know some people who unfortunately sold their xbox to get money to buy a 360 & had the lack of knowledge of the backward compatability issues. (me not being one, i have 2 xbox's 1 modded, 1 original, & i don't even own a 360) thank you & soyanarra bitches.
- THX-7168, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Duplicate
http://digg.com/gaming/Half-Life_2_creators_to_produce_for_360
But only by 5 minutes so I guess it's OK. - kriminalintent, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0There most likly going to kick it off with counterstrike:source. Its good of them to look into console use because each of there mods are great games on there own. There online community is already huge and i think there is talk of 360 gamers being able to play vs. pc gamers.... They better hope there able to control those hackers. Think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts....
- hollywoodone, on 10/12/2007, -9/+6Counter-Strike 360 that can be packaged with software for mouse and keyboard use. PLEASE
- darkgmr, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2I hope it is a completely new game that we haven't heard of... and for the love of god don't let it be "Codename Gordon" for the XBL arcade!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0I think it will be Half-Life 2 plus HDR, Episode 1, and HL2:DM. Maybe they'll put capture the flag in, too?
